Snag chub rub shorts help?

I love a pair of chub rub shorts but the ones I’ve been wearing in previous summers are cotton and quite thick which sucks on a roasting day.

I’ve heard Snag chub rub are much cooler and would love to try a pair but I’m so confused on the sizing. It doesn’t help that I’m between sizes. I’m a 10/12 and 5ft6 so going on their size chart I should be either a C or a D but I really don’t want them to be uncomfortable and cutting in especially when sitting down. Can anyone help? Please!

I'm put off the m&s ones now! I've been wearing a pair of tights that I cut in half, they did the job fine but won't last.

TokyoSushi · 13/06/2023 21:24

I bought the M&S ones, read the reviews and took them back. I've been wearing some plain black Asda cycling shorts which have done the job perfectly but have been absolutely boiling today!

I've just ordered a black pair of Snag, I'm a 'good' size 14 and have gone with a D - let's see!

Sloggi shorts every time.
I tried Snags and Popsy and I thought they were both awful. Sweaty and itchy.

im a solid size 14 too and was also going to go for the D so be interested to hear what you think. I also like the look of their leggings but I tend to try and spend as little as possible on stuff for gym!

The Snag ones are very long on the body. I bought a D, I'm size 12 and they come up to my bra. I'm 5"5' so not tiny

I live the snag right chub run shorts. I've just had new ones delivered. They are a similar material to tights but I never feel too hot in them plus they don't roll like others I've tried. Sizing wise is a little hit and Miss. I'm much bigger and taller than you and was a size E/F according to their chart. I ordered an F originally but then tried the E. I was definitely more comfortable in the F. The only downside I found was that overtime they stretched lengthwise. However I was wearing each pair at least twice a week and washing them in between so I think the stretching was due to over washing and wearing. This year I've order five new pairs for work plus i still have last years. Only time will tell if there is a difference.

@TokyoSushi whats your verdict on the snags? The fact they are long on the body is putting me off ordering

TokyoSushi · 22/06/2023 09:42

@Colinorpercy Yes & no, but mostly yes!

The body is long, but with a bit of positioning, it's manageable. They don't move at all, in terms of rolling up or rolling down, so there's no rubbing whatsoever.

However, they are basically a pair of excellent quality tights in the shape of cycling shorts that don't move. Therefore, they are as hot as hell! I was watching DD at football last night and was sitting on a camping chair, my dress was damp when I got up the Snags had made me sweat that much!!

I don't think that there's a perfect solution to this issue. The Snags are definitely one of the best of a bad job. I'm going to try the long leg Sloggis as well if I can find them a bit cheaper somewhere!

Thanks! I’ve always wondered if they’d be hot being tights material, you’re right though I don’t think there is a perfect solution. The sloggis are cotton and pretty thin so I def think that helps with the comfort. I also sized up in them FYI if you do order them. I’m a solid 14 and got them in a 16 and wouldn’t want them any smaller.

happyinherts · 23/06/2023 17:14

There is a perfect solution. It's Vaseline.

I used some at 7.30am, walked all day, over 7 miles in total, and was absolutely fine. A Godsend, in fact.
Without it, I know my inner thighs would have been cut to pieces, and I'd spend the next few days unable to walk properly, in pain and sore.

PlumPeony · 23/06/2023 22:55

@Godofwar do you have a big bum, if not then definitely smaller size.

Topictwenty · 24/06/2023 08:09

I bought some from M&S, cool comfort anti chafe shorts and they are brilliant. No rolling, not hot. I did size up though to prevent rolling. They’re not the ones someone linked upthread and I can’t find them online I’m afraid

Wore a pair of snag chub rubs last weekend, first outing for this pair. The seam around the gusset gave way at some point so my fanny flaps were hanging out Angry At least they didn't roll up or down, but god they were uncomfortable. And useless. And bloody expensive for one wear.

Sleepyteach · 01/07/2023 19:46

I love my snags, wore them loads during our recent Florida trip and had no issues. I went in Primark the other day and they are doing their own version, £5 so slightly cheaper. Not tried them yet though - these are anti chafe shorts, not their normal cotton cycling shorts.

blahblahblah1654 · 02/07/2023 04:42

I bought some from Uniqlo recently. They are really good, quite firming too! I tried the M&S ones but they don't hold everything in as effectively. I have short legs and they are too long also.

Have you looked at the Innersy ones on Amazon? They are lovely and comfy and stretchy and cool even in hot weather

I was going to recommend the same ones. I've just bought more for my holiday!

RNBrie · 02/07/2023 08:48

I tried a couple of sizes of the Snag ones but they always rolled up and didn't help me at all. I now wear Step One boxers which are lightweight and work well but still move around a bit and need adjusting. But might give the Jockey Skimmies a go. I want something I don't ever have to think about...

Get in touch with their customer service - they're really good at replacing/refunding faulty items.
