Birkenstocks WTF? 😳

I was just wondering what colours Birkenstock are doing this year and had a quick look on their website. I’m sure they used to be about £60ish full price and I only ever bought them reduced/in the sale so usually pay much less. They are £90-£105 - massive price increase…why oh why?

Moshulu are a lot cheaper around £40-£50 and I find them quicker to break in than Birkenstocks. Not sure how long lasting they will be but I wore them all last summer and they're still going strong.

Shopgirl1 · 26/05/2023 22:01

Noticed this also, massive price increase recently, they seem to have doubled, was going to get some but not going to bother now.

EversoDisorganised · 26/05/2023 22:07

Yes, I'd noticed too, win't be buying any this year. I tried Moshulu and they didn't provide enough arch support for me so I'm sticking to my old Birkies and will be keeping an eye on sales at the end of the season.

I never had to break in my Birkenstocks, absolutely love them.

MySaladDaysAreGone · 26/05/2023 22:13

I get them secondhand off eBay!

Forshameandyegads · 26/05/2023 22:18

Oakandhyde are brilliant birk alternatives.

RelentlessForwardProgress · 26/05/2023 22:21

Birkenstock have an outlet store at Cheshire Oaks. I bought a pair of leather Arizona's from there this week for £39......not sure where you are, but might be of use to someone to know they are there!

TulipTuesday · 26/05/2023 22:25

I used to work in a catalogue surplus store which sold last seasons Birkenstocks for £40. We only had limited stock and sizes but I’m sure it wasn’t the only shop like that, so defo worth shopping around.

Toddlerteaplease · 26/05/2023 22:26

I get them from the outlet centre at Cheshire Oaks.

Toddlerteaplease · 26/05/2023 22:27

£42 for a lovely blue metallic pair.

YourWinter · 26/05/2023 22:29

i get everything except underwear from eBay and charity shops. Shoes and boots are very often offered for sale barely worn and in brilliant condition because they just don’t fit the seller. It works for me!

twinteenwrangler · 26/05/2023 22:39

I also felt they'd got ridiculous. I bought brand new without tags from Vinted for £30. Very happy.

Blossomtoes · 26/05/2023 23:21

I’ve got three pairs and didn’t pay full price for any of them. If you Google the style and colour you can always find them cheaper. Companies like Freemans do huge discounts for new customers, my first pair was from them and they were less than £50.

PrinceHaz · 26/05/2023 23:26

Can you still get the Birkenstock ‘Relax’ style. They’re the only ones my fat heels could slot in to.

coxesorangepippin · 27/05/2023 02:38

Tkmaxx used to do them mega cheap, about a tenner

No doubt those days are gawn

Busybutbored · 27/05/2023 02:45

They're ugly anyway, don't know how they became trendy in the first place

eglantine7 · 27/05/2023 05:39

Birkenstocks will last you for years and years and nothing beats them for comfort. I've had my black arizonas for years and would replace them when they wear out. When I had less money I have bought them cheaper online in a metallic hologram colour ( think Amazon). I think they look good in any colour and the key thing is they are the most comfortable and robust summer shoes. I wore them in Tehran last year while traversing the city on foot, subway and busses. Wear them often in London.

Punkkitty · 27/05/2023 06:06

Recently bought Arizona’s from schuh and between a 20% off code and some voucher I had they ended up £55. Might be worth a look on their website.

I bought a pair and found them hideously uncomfortable-they're not for everyone.

I was the exact same Yellowdays! Was scratching my head going ‘I thought these were supposed to be feet heaven and clouds of shoe etc etc’
Did some googling and realised all this ‘breaking in’ caper was needed. Persevered and have to say after a week of wearing them for maybe an hour or two after work and with socks once or twice I had them beat and they are now the business!

PurpleFlower1983 · 27/05/2023 06:20

Have Birks always had a man-made upper or is that new? I paid £105 for my leather ones which is crazy but the non leather ones are £75 anyway!

Doyouthinktheyknow · 27/05/2023 06:27

I went for moshulu this time. My birkies are all very old and some are literally falling apart. I never paid more than £40 so this season’s prices were just too high for me.

The moshulu ones are very comfortable.

Second hand shoes that are worn sockless?

chalkyc2 · 27/05/2023 06:33

Wait there's an outlet store?!?

The new soft footbed birkies are a game changer...!
