Best makeup brand?

I don't wear a lot of makeup, usually just an spf and occasionally tinted moisturiser, a powder for no shine and mascara.
Brows and eyeliner tattooed on so don't bother with that so much either.
All my makeup is old and I want to get some new and I've no clue where go start

The best across the board mass market one in my opinion is maybelline. I use their eyebrow pencil and brow mascara, their black mascara, I’ve had good foundations, concealer and powder from there, def good for basics and often on three for two in superdrug.

would love to hear some good high end recommendations of individual products!

specifically the Giorgio Armani foundation!

karmakameleon · 26/05/2023 13:59

When Armani first started their cosmetics line I had a free makeover at one of their counters and fell in love with them immediately! I occasionally stray and try something different but always seem to return. So many beautiful products and I do love the illuminous silk foundation. Thorough recommend going to a counter and trying it out.

MuddaUdders · 26/05/2023 14:00

Do you have an overall budget in mind? My make up bag is predominantly a combo of Bare Minerals, Charlotte Tilbury, Origins, Nars, Lancôme, Pat McGraph, Fenty. I had my brows and upper lid liner tattooed also - timesaver!

MuddaUdders · 26/05/2023 14:01

I have a thing for Jones Road Beauty as well. Not purchased anything from there yet though

toooldtobeamum · 26/05/2023 15:08

Thanks all, no particular budget just want a miracle product I think !
I will try a place with a few different brand counters and try not to get sucked into a load of free gifts and buy stuff I don't need!

I like Charlotte Tilbury, bare Minerals, Too faced is good too.

GettingStuffed · 26/05/2023 15:31

I like Milk, not cheap though

Sparkletastic · 26/05/2023 15:43

Agree with Maybelline for best on high street. Glossier good if you like a lighter natural look. But I'm a beauty tart - no one brand would ever be all I needed ☺️

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 26/05/2023 15:56

Maybelline is fantastic value and I've recently bought a few bits from AYU which have been excellent.

MuddaUdders · 26/05/2023 15:59

A detailed list of some of my fave make up items:

•	Pat McGraph Opulust Gloss in Dreamscape
•	Charlotte Tilbury Hotlips 2.0 in Angel Alessandra (paired with a Rimmel Exaggerate lip liner)
•	YSL Touché Eclat
•	Nars Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturiser SPF 30
•	Origins Ginzing SPF 40 Tinted Moisturiser
•	Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter
•	Chanel Rosy Light Drops
•	Chanel Les Beiges Blush no.24
•	Lancôme Hypnose Doll Eyes Waterproof Mascara
•	Charlotte Tilbury Eyeshadow (Jewel Pots or Eyes to Mesmerise range)
•	Charlotte Tilbury Magic Vanish concealer
•	Charlotte Tilbury Legendary Brows
•	Charlotte Tilbury Brow Cheat (if I want to further emphasise my lightly tattooed brows)
•	Shu Uemura eyelash curler
•	Fenty Beauty Diamond Bomb in “How Many Carats?!”
•	Bare Minerals Invisible Bronze
•	Bare Minerals BareSkin Perfecting Veil

I also have some eyeshadow sticks (Bobby Brown and Kiki brands).
Occasionally I use gel liner to add wings to my existing tattooed upper lids (Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliner Pot).

For the most part, I tend to use make up that I can use my fingers to apply. The exceptions are the bronzer and compact powder that I currently use.
I once bought Chanel’s Les Beiges Bronzing Cream (it’s in a big pot, although they now do a travel sized one) which was also lovely to use.

estee lauder double wear foundation

blackberriesaretheonlyfruit · 26/05/2023 16:14

Hourglass or Jones Road.

idliketogetdownnow · 26/05/2023 16:18

I was such a naysayer about Charlotte Tilbury before I tried it. I actually avoided trying it because I was so fed up with all the PR and advertising of the range. Instagram ads etc.

Now I've given in and tried it I have to say I think it's the best out there. The quality is great and the products are so easy to use. It's not cheap but it's worth it.

So I'd say CT overall but special mention to Armani luminous silk for foundation.

Angrymum22 · 26/05/2023 16:25

I was given a sample of Dior light weight foundation. I’m usually a Lancôme or Chanel regular but fell in love with the Dior product.
It’s called Forever Skin Glow.

SingingGoldfinch · 26/05/2023 16:30

Eyeko for mascara - lash alert or limitless and Eborian for CC or BB cream (which include an spf) - totally love both these brands!

slug · 26/05/2023 16:33

Lisa Eldridge for lipsticks

Niftythrifter · 26/05/2023 18:21

I’ve recently bought something from Collection which is he Gorgeous Glow Filter and I apply it after moisturiser and SPF and then apply the tiniest hint of M and S foundation and I think it makes my skin look lovely. It looks alive and you can still make out some of the flaws etc but a combination of Collection blush(their cream in the stick), their eyeshadow ( Parisian pinks) with Primark eyeshadow primer and topped with mascara and Chanel le beiges bronzer makes for a nice summer look.

AgenceGrateau · 26/05/2023 18:30

Excellent dupe for Charlotte tilbury flawless filter is the collection filter finish and it's £6-7.
They also have a lovely bronzer palette that's about £3
I also think that maybelline has the best matte liquid lipsticks I've ever tried - the rouge velvet ones are unbeatable.

I do love Dior forever skin foundation
Mac/nars for blush/highlighter
Benefit they're real mascara - I've tried all mascaras and this just works best for me.
I do love Charlotte tilbury lip pencils and they have a nice highlighter wand too.

Niftythrifter · 26/05/2023 19:15

@AgenceGrateau ooh that is the Collection product that I meant!

toooldtobeamum · 26/05/2023 21:52

Wow lots of look at, I can hear my bank card screaming. Thank you all x

Budget end is Revolution-which has some great dupes for dearer brands and Charlotte Tilbury when treating myself

DanceMumTaxi · 26/05/2023 22:00

Agree, Maybelline is great for a more budget option. However, if I had to pick just one brand it would be Bobbi Brown. It’s not all sparkly and glam, but they do great everyday makeup so well.

keffie12 · 26/05/2023 22:11

Head to a nice apartment store like John Lewis and book to have your makeup done by one of the cosmetic stands.

My makeup bag contains

1/Urban Decay and Chatlotte Tilbury eyeshadow pallette.

2/Jane Iredale mascara

3/ Benefits eyeliners and brow makeup

4/ Dermalogica skin perfect face primer (This I love and wouldn't change - you can wear this with no need for foundation as it is gritty witha tan hint)

5/ Daniel Sandler watercolour blush

6/ YSL foundation and concealer

7/ Bronzer balls, and highlighter by Avon

8/ Lipgloss and lippi. No particular brand

9/ Setting spray with SPF Garnier

awakeeveeynight · 26/05/2023 22:13

By Terry mascara. It's brilliant. You can thank me later.
