I need some height so googled closed to flatform sandals and quite a few came up.

Interesting that some go to a brogue in the summer - is that just a step down from boots?

I have just done my last day in DM boots with dress today - starting to look silly and uncomfortable as the sun shone for once

Allbird flats - extremely comfortable and just shove in washing machine so no worries about sweaty feet.

I am often in dresses. For my brutal London commute, I wear a super comfy slip on sock shoe:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/White-Slip-Trainers-Women-Womens/dp/B09WXYNGR2/ref=sr_1_151

If I need a little heel with comfort, I wear espadrilles:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/No-ES-mismo-Espadrilles-Platform/dp/B08DFX9TR7/ref=sr_1_53

Both are closed toe with straps, so super comfy and in neutral colours for versatility. I keep the heels under my work desk/cloak cupboard to swap into when I get in from the commute. But mostly I brazen it out in the office by wearing my sock shoes.

Ditto coronationstation re flat feet problem. (how do you manage to do long distance running with flat feet?!)

Yetisrus · 24/05/2023 21:32

Ballet pumps, wedge sandals or my Sebago Bala(which rubbed like hell today and gave me blisters for some reason). Depends what I'm wearing. Occasionally I may wear flat sandals.

Agree that there are some smart toms. I had a great pair that were smart but incredibly comfortable. They don't sell that particular style any more so I bought the ones linked here. They are possibly the most uncomfortable shoes I've ever tried on. Hard and unforgiving and boring to look at with it

newtowelsplease · 24/05/2023 22:20

I've just bought these: www.office.co.uk/view/product/office_catalog/2,30/4921800000

Like them a lot, they look smart and are comfy

CoronationKicking · 24/05/2023 22:37

I agree with @Coronationstation

These dainty looking little flats and sling backs would kill my feet

whenitsover · 25/05/2023 01:22

A loafer in a white cream tan Would look good with trousers

A mule for dressses, kitten heel or low to medium heel would be better in summer

CatticusFinch · 25/05/2023 06:27

I am bemused by how many people aren't allowed to wear open toed shoes. What is the reason for this? I work in a school and we have no policy regarding footwear. I love my sandals in summer.

QuintanaRoo · 25/05/2023 06:31

White loafers
pink loafers
lilac Nike Dunks
closed toe Birkenstock sandals (sometimes open toe ones)
vans in various colours.

Parker231 · 25/05/2023 08:33

White trainers are my go to for office days. Works perfectly with dresses and my other staple - wide leg linen trousers.

Puffalicious · 25/05/2023 11:33

This is fascinating. So glad to see lots of folk suggesting ballet flats. There was a thread a month or so ago denouncing ballet flats as the worst of the worst, totally outdated!

I like ballet flats at this time of year, favourites include silver ones and gold ones, they're both a great neutral. I had nude, which are great, but threw them in the bin in a fit of botheredness after work last week as they nip my small toes terribly (Lands End- beware of sizing!).

I also love my stone, leather brogues with hidden, thin socks, and I have very soft leather, rose gold brogues which are a dream to wear- bought years ago and I wear them loads.

I've been inspired to buy more espadrilles after reading- I have a demim-blue pair from last year which are really comfortable, so think I'll invest in black or navy this year, or perhaps a beige.

VapeVamp12 · 25/05/2023 11:59

I wear skechers go walks in black

If it's really hot I wear flip flops - but my office is v laid back. Boss even wears flip flops and shorts when it gets into the mid-high 20's

ilovesushi · 25/05/2023 13:27

@scoobydoo1971 my dad had similar condition. I recommend you get the toe lopped off. I know this about shoes but saw your post.

Black espadrille Matalan

Believe or not, from Matalan! Very comfortable and they have a beige pair too.

These are perfect! Thank you.

summerflowerspoppy · 25/05/2023 19:29

I love these shoes and sandals but I have size 9 wide feet and most sandals rub my feet.

I love ballet flats, you'll never get me out of them. But then again i'm one of those strange types that still wears jeggings so take from that what you will! Smile

Industrial workplace - no open toed shoes or heeled shoes anywhere on site for safety, and safety shoes (steel toecaps and anti-slip soles) for the production areas.

TrainersNotSneakers · 25/05/2023 23:17

A question to those of you who wear espadrilles: how bendy are they? I saw some flat ones in Next last summer and was tempted, but the sole seemed pretty rigid. Do they bend, or do you end up walking flat-footed?

EducatingArti · 25/05/2023 23:20

I can't wear ballet flats or court shoes or any thing without a strap as they just fall off my feet. I also have hypermobility syndrome and can't wear heels or I trip or go over on my ankle.

I have this style in several different colours but I can get away with being fairly casual.

Toms do some great espadrilles in different colour ways. V comfortable cover toes and look smart
