I struggle with this too so following for ideas!

bravotango · 23/05/2023 21:37

I fully WFH now but used to wear white trainers or moi London ballet shoes. Mostly wore midi skirts or trousers

LittleFreakJezebel · 23/05/2023 21:40

I've always struggled with this too but recently bought these and had loads of compliments!

The bad review is that they are tight across the foot but I get wide fit anyway and have found them fine.

I have to wear closed toe shoes so usually stick to ballet pumps and cropped, tapered linen trousers. I’ve recently bought a pair of low wedge espadrilles and they are very comfortable. They work with trousers or dresses.

I also have Swedish Hasbeens, but closed toe ones with a cut out flower shape at the front. Comfortable and surprisingly light and to wear with dresses.

ArseMenagerie · 23/05/2023 21:47

Vivaia look good… following

Phos · 23/05/2023 21:48

Flat black or nude sandals or my regular trainers. We have a casual dress code.

Littleguggi · 23/05/2023 21:51

@LittleFreakJezebel I brought those last year and they were SO painful, never experienced anything like it! I probably didn't give them much of a chance tbh!

Cheeks4970 · 23/05/2023 21:55

I'm thinking of getting myself a pair of sandals from Lotta of Stockholm. I bought some boots for winter and loved them and the sandals (called clogs on their website) look lovely too

mrsgreggspastry · 23/05/2023 22:01

Thanks for the replies so far. Where I've been wfh I've got used to wearing trainers/flip flops/slippers Blush but now I need something for the office and fairly formal. I like Hasbeens and Lotta of Stockholm but need something more 'formal' but still want to like them. Ballet pumps would workI suppose but not sure about when it's really hot and a small heel would look better probably.

Sargasso and Grey are my go-to for work shoes and boots. Not cheap but so worth it for the comfort level. https://sargassoandgrey.com/collections/new-arrivals/products/indy-wide-fit-flats-rose-pink-suede I've just ordered these as I feel they're quite a good neutral.

Mumsday · 23/05/2023 22:08

@deedeemegadoodoo Could you link your espadrilles? Looking for some!

hedwigismyowl · 23/05/2023 22:09

I got ballet shoes as need to have closed toe, but with a bit of a heel. Cant say I find them particularly hot

LuciferRising · 23/05/2023 22:19

I WFH but do have to navigate trains and the tube when I go in. I work in a male dominated environment and am under 5 foot and am stuck on what to do. I just feel so small in flats but don't want to be uncomfortable. So much easier in winter with boots.

mrsgreggspastry · 23/05/2023 22:28

Those are beautiful Bluebells1970 - beyond my budget though.

LuciferRising could you wear different shoes for the journey in? Bit of a pain though.

Struggle a bit with this too but I have flat loafers

also have trainer type (but quite smart)

I don’t tend to wear sandals due to my job (fairly active and they slip off)

Littleguggi · 23/05/2023 22:30

What smart trainers are people wearing?

mdinbc · 23/05/2023 22:34

These are very nice, professional looking but yet summery looking.

or these, in navy, with a suit.

Blowfish Malibu do some great sandals with a micro wedge. Incredibly comfortable and available in some UK stores.

CC4712 · 24/05/2023 00:38

I too WFH now, but pre-covid I'd wear trainers to walk to work/commute, then change to heels/flats at work. I used to love irregular choice- the plainer types though with the lower heel. I've also found work shoes at M&S and Clarks sometimes. (I have hobbit wide feet!)

I personally never wore open toed or sandals at work as you need immaculate toes/feet and they were too casual.

LittleFreakJezebel · 24/05/2023 06:38

Littleguggi · 23/05/2023 21:51

I must admit I was dubious when I ordered them but surprisingly they have been absolutely fine! Rubbed my right foot little toe a bit the first time I wore them but been absolutely fine since then.

However they do the same shoe with a small wedge which I also ordered and they were really uncomfy when I tried them on, strange!

chalkyc2 · 24/05/2023 06:40

I wear brogues with hidden socks - but I hardly ever wear dresses - mostly light ankle trousers with a tucked in t shirt and jacket.

WonderingWanda · 24/05/2023 07:04

I work in a school so not allowed open toes or trainers. I tend to wear loafers, or something like the ankle strap covered toe espadrilles upthread, although not got any at the moment.

Caspianberg · 24/05/2023 07:08

I wear these for summer smart. Leather so no sweaty plastic. Really comfy for long days walking or standing. I have tan and light blue pair.
