Summer dresses for travelling (not posh restaurants or lazing on the beach!)

While posh restaurants and lazing on the beach would be lovely, DS11 and I are instead spending nine days interrailing in Central Europe and I think it will be HOT!

We will have minimal luggage, I’ll be mostly in Sketchers trainers (I don’t trust anything more attractive to keep my get comfy) and Saltwaters and need dresses that will keep me cool, can be layered and will pack easily. I prefer midi/ maxi styles and cotton or viscose. I’m not too into cute florals. I’m 5 foot 4 and a size 12.

It seems most summer dresses out this year are more suited to teaming with a wide brim hat and statement earrings, rather than hefting rucksacks up the steps to the castles and train stations of Mittel Europe.

Any links to something suitable would be great. Budget up to about £100.

Yes I have! They are lovely and cool! The merino is superior to cotton. Also they dry really quickly and they seem to prevent body odour. If you check out the Facebook page, you can that plenty of others swear especially for travel.

I was on a trip in a very hot country once, and 2 of the guys wore merino t shirts and were convinced that they wouldn't smell. I can confirm that they were wrong. By the end of the trip they absolutely did smell.

They are cool though and absorb any sweat - I cycle in merino vests and t shirts in hot weather and prefer them to cotton.

I just ordered this from ASOS https://www.asos.com/prd/204720390?acquisitionsource=pasteboard I tried it on yesterday and it’s lovely and floaty without looking like you’re wearing a big sack. I’m 5’7” and size 14, smaller on top than on the hips and it’s very comfortable and flattering.

This is an easy to wear dress, especially in the khaki and black colour ( natural)
Takes up No room in a rucksack and is very inexpensive, suits all shapes and sizes , wear with or without a belt.
