Recommend a tinted moisturiser please

I've always worn foundation and powder, from being around age 16 to now, age 53.

I'm finding that this combination is now too much for my ageing skin and would like to find a decent tinted moisturiser for day to day use.

I tried some Nivea tinted moisturiser (cheap I know) and found that it was just as heavy and pigmented as foundation, I want something lighter that doesn't necessarily put a layer of colour on my skin but just gives me a bit of a glow.

I've always worn a full face of makeup, every single day (unless ill or not leaving the house) for almost 40 years.. foundation, powder, blusher, eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara, lipliner and lipstick.. the lot! I'd like to tone it right down to tinted moisturiser, mascara and a natural looking lipgloss. I'm sick of the rigmarole and the time it takes (at least an hour every morning before work).

Please could you help me find a tinted moisturiser. My skin is pale with a tendency to redness, normal skin type (neither greasy nor dry). My price range would have to be £20 or less.

Thanks in advance.

Apparently N7 tinted moisturizer is very good. I'd say Nars as that gets the most accolades but it's spendy.

Bare minerals. In a gold tube, it’s great!

gerbo · 17/05/2023 19:44

Watching with interest. I never wear foundation but would like to look a bit more put together...

gerbo · 17/05/2023 19:44

(46 and also need something which is good value!)

My favourite is the La Roche Posay Effaclar tinted version. It’s very lightweight and gives a sheen. However it doesn’t have SPF.

My second favourite is NARS but this is pricier - though you get a big tube for the cost and don’t need a lot. But it may be too pigmented for you, it is half way to a foundation I’d say.

The Erborian CC and BB creams get fab reviews but I find they need a moisturiser underneath.

Garnier is not bad on a budget but too orange for me - I am pale. So depends on your colouring.

Others that get good reviews but I haven’t tried - Laura Mercier, Bare Minerals, No 7.

I'm 55 and use this one

I use Erborian CC cream on its own. Absolute game changer.

Clinique tinted moisturiser is really good. I always come back to it.

Bare minerals complexion rescue

Jones road What the Foundation. New Bobbi brown label. Proper glowy

TotallyFloored · 17/05/2023 20:18

i love the Erborian too !

wasacasa · 17/05/2023 20:23

I use Boots No7 City Lights which is a tinted moisturiser. I think it’s great. I also asked what was next up in terms of foundation coverage and got their next coverage up which is also very good. It’s not expensive and I found the staff really helpful in my local boots.

stayathomer · 17/05/2023 20:29

sorry to go spendy on this but clarins bb (my go to that I buy every year for my birthday- I just put it on daily, no fuss, feels fab and gives great skincare!) and Clinique cc are amazing. Got a sample of double wear cc and it was amazing when on but hard work to put on! Would love love love to try Chanel, erborian or it cosmetics but nowhere nearby do them and they cost so much I couldn’t chance it. Used to use le Roche posay but it’s hard work to put on. Maybelline, L’Oréal and garnier were horrendous (I am 43 with roseacea). Best of luck op. Btw I wear with primer- glossier or sculpted after le Roche posay spf (I have to due to roseacea!)

Thank you for all of your recommendations. I'm going to go through everything tomorrow, look at prices and decide which one to try first 🙂

Bare minerals complexion rescue! I've tried loads, this one is by far the best.

TheChosenTwo · 17/05/2023 20:39

I like the rare beauty one. Don’t think it was particularly expensive but it goes on like a dream, I just use my fingers! Not really much in the way of coverage just makes my skin tone a bit more even and balanced out.

Hazelnuttella · 17/05/2023 20:43

The two I love are:

Bareminerals complexion rescue - very sheer

NARS tinted moisturiser- more like a very light foundation, but still looks natural

Both the above have a very wide range of shades.

Two I do not recommend:

I didn’t get on with Erborian at all. There’s only 2 shades and they definitely do not “adapt to your skin tone” as claimed.

L’Oréal - kind of just sat on my skin, didn’t blend in at all.

Charlieandlola · 17/05/2023 20:48

Laura Mercier oil free is great . I’ve also used It cosmetics but found it a bit too rich and made me breakout - so I’ve gone back to LM. It’s around £35 tho :(

WhatILoved · 17/05/2023 20:49

I came on to say Laura Mercier too!

Yes it is!! I use it and really rate it.

Another vote for this. I also like Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue but that's a bit more spendy.

Fenty Ease Drops. On sale at boots at the moment for just over £20. I suffer from roseccea but I hate a whole face of make up. It’s moisturising, light coverage, goes on easily, and makes my skin look natural - just a more even version. I just put it on my cheeks and around the base of my nose. I like a few of my freckles to peep through and it evens my skin tone but with still a few freckles to look natural.

AnneShirleysNewDress · 17/05/2023 21:14

Boots no.7 hydraluminous aqua release skin perfector is really good. Around £15. I'm also pale and the light shade works for me but there is also a fair shade.
