"In" Trainers

On the back of the dress with trainers thread, what trainers are "in" at the moment? I've never had a branded trainer (supermarket own brand for me!😁) but would quite like a good, comy pair to wear that would go with anything. Any suggestions please, up to about £100?

I love my converse ballet style pumps - they go with everything and come in different colours

bdayideasplease · 13/05/2023 17:13

Things like Stan Smiths / Vans / white Vejas are classics and always will be stylish but are not a hot trend iyswim.

AF1's have also had a recent resurgence but if you genuinely want to know what's in - as in - bang on trend right now, it's the sporty or hiking coloured trainers, not white. So examples depending on your style / preference could be Adidas Sambas in a colour, or Veja Venturi in a colour.

Thankyou all, I've got some googling to do 😁

I love an ugly trainer to make some straight leg jeans and a t shirt feel more up to date. The Puma Cillas are good for this and super cheap.

Air force ones always look good too.

H&M do some nice chunky trainers, I’ve been wearing a pair since last summer that people sometimes ask where I got them 😁 very comfy and only £35

MiniEggsAllYear · 13/05/2023 21:12

Nike AF1s or dunks (particularly the black and white dunks if you can get your hands on them- I haven't managed yet!)
Adidas Sambas are really in at the moment. I just got a pair of superstars and I really love them. Love gazelles for black trainers.
The black and white checked vans are great.
Next on my list of trainers I want to buy is the New Balance 550's in white with pink accents.
"Dad" style trainers are definitely in at the moment.

I like the look of my Stan Smiths but my god they’re uncomfortable! I’m looking for an alternative because they’re almost unwearable.

Notanothernewname · 13/05/2023 21:37

I have a pair of leather Tommy Hilfiger ones that I really like. Don't know if they're in or not but I like them as I've not seen anyone else in them.

soddingspiderseason · 13/05/2023 21:42

Not quite trainers but I have quite a few pairs of Rocket Dog sneakers and they are the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn.

yoga4meinthemorning · 13/05/2023 21:44

I have onitsuka tigers that I love.

Chequered vans are very 2006. Are they back? I hate them. I guess it's because I always saw scruffy chefs or emo's wearing them.

I've never thought New Balances were "in". They never look good. Especially the fugly 327's. They are up there with Yeezy's.

Adidas gazelles we're "in" a few years ago. This year the nizza's or ozweegos are the latest styles.

Nike air force 1's are "in" but mostly with teenagers and people in their 20's.

Chunky trainers are the most trendiest atm.

Adidas Sambas are the trainers of the moment - black or white with gum soles.

Disagree, used to be a footwear buyer & gazelles are defo a big trend now. It's why the last yr has seen so many colour options introduced. Sure on fashion people they were a thing in early 2022 but things take time to filter down. Nizzas are not cool at all & not the next trainer.

I've never thought New Balances were "in"

Yeah they definitely were a thing. Look back 5 yrs ago & you didn't see many people in them (they were in Stan Smiths), now everyone & their nan has NB.

I mean if you want to be very on trend, a hiking trainer like the Solomon ones are the thing but the likes of adidas sambas or gazelles are much easier to pull off!

Husband is a sportswear buyer… Gazelles are definitely in.

Agree Nike AF generally for younger crowd.

327s were massively on trend a year or so ago and are still hugely popular now.

Filamumof9 · 14/05/2023 06:02

I love Skechers. They have many different colors. Especially their Uno model is nice and comfy. Literally the only brand I can walk in for long distances.

ChequeredPastel · 14/05/2023 06:07

I know this is a stupid question but can you work out in any of these trainers ?

risefromyourgrave · 14/05/2023 07:54

I have a massive problem finding fashionable trainers for my mega wide feet, Vans are too narrow, Converse no chance. I saw Adidas recommended for wide feet, bought some Superstars and my little toe has literally burst through the seams on both shoes!
Any recommendations for my unnaturally wide feet?

Whu · 14/05/2023 07:59

I didn’t know that adults really cared about trainer brands and being on trend. The teenage boys I work with care a lot and it’s always some new Nike or Jordan’s for them!
I wear sketchers for comfort Grin.
I do have a pair of Nikes for sports so maybe I am on trend but I’ve never looked at people’s trainers to check.
Thank you for teaching me, I’ll check out some of these next time.

HappiDaze · 14/05/2023 08:17

I've always loathed NB trainers but I absolutely love my NB 327 and they're so so comfy

missfliss · 14/05/2023 08:19

I don't care if I'm behind the curve - just bought some NB 327s off Vinted for £35.

The silhouette is the right level of 'chunk' and height for me to offset my less than lovely cankles!!!

BiffChipsandKippers · 14/05/2023 08:27

Be careful on vinted. There are loads of NB 317 at around the £35 price point that are clearly scammers. Similar photos and the sellers have no reviews. Hope you haven't been had!

BiffChipsandKippers · 14/05/2023 08:28

That was for @missfliss
