I love the gold dress on Meghan! Fab textured fabric and so think she was totally right to ditch the straps, I think they would have swamped her.

KillingMeDeftly · 17/05/2023 06:59

Actually looking at the original, I think I prefer Meghan's version. She's had the slit shortened too. The colour seems deeper in this pic so maybe the camera flashes washed it out a bit.

Love her gold shoes!

Kate looks lovely as always but don't like the outfit overall, though I like white jeans, but don't like the crop or the jacket.

Maireas · 17/05/2023 07:28

Yes, I think the bespoke version is better - it's very neat and chic, but still glamorous. The textured fabric adds a bit of interest. Proper skill walking in those shoes, but the accessories are spot on, as per. I really like the hair side parted look (sorry don't know what to call it). Not as severe as a centre parting can be.

Meghan looks great in that gold dress. Her alterations are much better. She'd have drowned in the original.

Hohohogreenjennie · 17/05/2023 07:46

I don’t love Meghan’s dress but I can’t figure out why. I think it’s either the texture or the shade of gold (weirdly I want to say it’s a green gold, IYKNWIM). I also have the urge to pull it up a bit. She wasn’t exposing anything but it looked like it was slipping.

But overall she looks amazing, very glamorous. I have total hair envy.

Serenster · 17/05/2023 07:46

She's had the slit shortened too.

And the dress has been converted to a sheath style, rather than having an A-line skirt. I like the original dress, but you’d need to be taller to carry it off. And the original looks like a posh sundress to me - the alterations made to Meghan’s version make it much dressier.

Hohohogreenjennie · 17/05/2023 07:50

I liked Kate’s sport-smart look. She looked very fresh and the yellow was a nice pop of colour to brighten the outfit up. There’s something jarring about the look though that I can’t quite put my finger on, but I’m guessing it’s somewhere in the middle as it looks lovely when she’s sat down but just slightly off when she’s stood up.

Would love to know how she keeps her whites so white with 3 kids and a dog 🤣 (joke!)

locketrocket · 17/05/2023 07:50

Morning all

MM - mmm, my first reaction was tin foil 😂 She looks good, but really not fussed on the dress.

PoW - that's my sort of look, minus white trousers. Love the colour of the blazer.

Max - is Max 😊

Agree with pp about Eugenie, bump looks a bit lower.

Maireas · 17/05/2023 07:52

I'm glad to see the return of the Pringle Hat on Max!

If Kate showed up at an engagement without her trousers that'd be the biggest royal scandal yet! 🤣

chesterelly1 · 17/05/2023 08:18

I think the alterations to the gold dress make it suit her more than the original would but I'm not a fan. I'm not sure why, maybe if it was hoiked up a bit.
Think we can expect an announcement from Eugenie very soon.

themessygarden · 17/05/2023 08:44

I don't like Kate's outfit, she needs a change from the trouser, blazer, trainer combo.

Meghan looks absolutely gorgeous, the colour is stunning on her and I much prefer her variation of the dress to the original, but yet again it's another dress that doesn't sit right around the bust. Harry looks different, he looks almost uncomfortable in those photos.

CultureAlienationBoredomandDespair · 17/05/2023 09:35

I guess we always agree to differ. Meghan’s makeup is always so fab I take it for granted and forget to even comment! Her hair looks lovely too, but obvious strap marks will never be chic in my book and only detract from the dress.

gluenotsoup · 17/05/2023 09:42

Max looks great, love it.
Eug’s bump has dropped, I remember well that with your second baby everyone always remarks “ooh, you’ve dropped, not long now…” and then it drags on for weeks 😂.
I’m going against the grain here, I’m not convinced about Megs gold dress. I think I prefer the original fit, with the longer split and more skimming rather than clinging, it looks a bit too tight around the waist.
I do love the hair and accessories, especially the shoes, but she needs a dark pedi with it 🙂

Can tell I hadn't had enough caffeine at that point!

Eaumyword · 17/05/2023 11:19

@gluenotsoup I agree - I personally much prefer the original gold dress with straps.
I think MM looks great, very polished (apart from the suntan marks!)
Love that photo of Max being Max!

She really is doing the round lately! She looks good and I wonder if she's had some subtle tweaks or is just using a filter?

I think at some point Fergie had her colours done, and possibly got a new stylist or at least some good shopping advice.

She's really had some great outfits in the last decade.

I think a bit of age suits her, she's got a lovely figure, can't quite believe the press used to call her fat!

hopeishere · 17/05/2023 11:35

I like the gold dress. The alterations make it work for her size and shape.

Elizabeth Holmes (the fashion person) says the trousers / blazer is Kates "work" look. She's done more flats recently- maybe she has a foot issue?

latedecember1963 · 17/05/2023 12:03

Fergie is looking good these days. I watched her on Loose Women recently and her complexion was lovely considering HD TV isn't always kind to how people look. Dame Kelly Holmes is a regular panellist too and she comes across as a caring person.
I'm liking Kate's work uniform of trousers with a blazer. It's more practical than the old coat dresses, although they probably still have their place on more formal occasions.

It's nice to see some pictures of Meghan. I know she's not a working royal anymore but I'm still interested to see what she's wearing. The gold dress is beautiful. I love the cut out bit on the bodice. Doria looks fabulous too. Maybe I need to take up yoga!

Lunde · 17/05/2023 14:15

I keep going backwards and forwards on the Gold dress. I think that the overall style of it works well for Meghan and her shape and height but the styling of it leaves a bit to be desired. Not sure that the shade of gold works best with Meghan's colouring but I understand her wanting to make a glittering splash at the ceremony. It was unfortunate that she entered through the Hertz office making everything look an unflattering yellow.

The styling is a bit iffy. I'm not a fan of visible tan lines and unfortunately the way she is styled draws attention to them because of the amount of skin showing above the bodice. She could have distracted attention away from the different skin tones with some jewels (necklace or choker), a tiny bolero or even make-up/spray tan.

Also I have to say that it bugs me that, given what she must have paid for the gold dress, whoever altered it didn't pattern match the gold shapes on the lower half of the skirt when the skirt was made narrower. I mean that would be picked up in the first round of Sewing Bee and I would expect a professional seamstress/dressmaker to do much better.

So, for me, I really liked the concept of the outfit but the overall effect is a bit unfinished and lacking attention to detail

I think Kate wears trainers when she might be expected to run around or do more than nominal walking. Yesterday's visit was at a sports charity and she joined in some of the games.

MrsGusset · 17/05/2023 16:33

I seem to be out of step with everybody on the outfits Catherine & Meghan wore yesterday because I didn't like either of them.

Catherine always looks great whatever she wears. But the yellow jacket & white trouser combo reminded me of Gladys Pugh's Hi-de-Hi! uniform from the 1980s.

And although golden shades suit Meghan, I really disliked her dress. The material looked gaudy & cheap (which I'm sure it wasn't!) & gave the whole outfit a very downmarket look.

So it's nul points from me to the pair of them; I'm sure they'll be devastated....

RockaLock · 17/05/2023 17:17

Meghan's hair and makeup were as lovely as usual, but I wasn't a huge fan of the dress. It did look like it needed hoiking up a bit, or maybe she just needed a good bra underneath, and I wasn't convinced that it fitted terribly well on the body - it seemed almost like it was pulled a bit tight in areas.

MotherofPearl · 17/05/2023 19:08

Beatrice and Charlotte are at Cannes Film Festival.

All I can say is that if this is the best that Dior and Chanel can come up with then God help us all. These are two exceptionally beautiful women but those dresses are frankly diabolical.
