Love Vinted but hate the stupid questions

For example, one of your photo shows the label with all the measurements on it, and then you send the person a screenshot of the sizes from the website and they still bloody ask you questions

GettingStuffed · 08/05/2023 10:45

I can't always make out what labels say as I have sight problems, even expanding the photo doesn't work if the colours are the problem

BusterGonad · 08/05/2023 12:27

The size guide from the store websites are never true to the actual size of the garment itself. Some photos cannot be enlarged well on phones. On ebay there is often photo's with a tape measure, I cannot always enlarge well enough to read the numbers.

HamHand · 08/05/2023 12:30

People are entitled to ask questions before they buy surely? I sell on eBay as a business and all my clothes listings show measurements with a tape measure as mentioned above but I never mind if someone asks me to clarify, I guess it comes down to wether you want to make the sale or not.

LittleG69 · 08/05/2023 12:32

If the item has been worn and washed several times it’s unlikely to have the same measurements as the website (even if they’re accurate)

KirstenBlest · 08/05/2023 12:44

I've not used Vinted but when I list something there will be the odd customer who asks for very detailed measurements about something like a pair of high street plain trousers listed for £5. They never bid.

BusterGonad · 08/05/2023 12:48

I always ask for the pit to pit measurement, it's no good ordering a dress which won't fit in arrival, I l ow what the store size guide says but that means nothing to me.

BusterGonad · 08/05/2023 12:48

*know

CampervanKween · 08/05/2023 13:39

Someone has just asked whether I have any photos of me wearing the dress..... it's a bit of a wierd question do you think? I've photographed it on a tailor's dummy so you can see how it hangs, fits etc.

drpet49 · 08/05/2023 13:41

If I get stupid questions asked I just block them. They’ll probably turn out to be nightmare buyers.

originalnuttah · 08/05/2023 13:51

The measurements on brand labels & website charts often do not match up with the garment & are completely incorrect. I always ask for chest measurements unless it’s a brand/style I already know.

Sure you can report this dodgy ask on Vinted, ignore/block/report.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 08/05/2023 16:22

I will message to ask the length of a top if I'm unsure Every seller has done this kindly and I've bought the item

inwhichdorisgetsheroats · 08/05/2023 16:53

I sell on ebay, and do get some random messages. Don't mind the measurement ones so much.

I ignore the ones repeatedly asking if they can buy it for much less than you've listed it for - and I already list with a low start price and add a best offer option.

I had one claiming to be from a school asking me if I would donate the books I was selling to their school in scotland (i live in england). I'm not against donating things, but if I do I don't want to pay postage when it's easier to donate locally!

KirstenBlest · 08/05/2023 16:57

Measurements are OK, but not if it's someone asking for about 6 different measurement of the garment for a pair of high street jeans.

TheChosenTwo · 08/05/2023 17:37

I feel the same OP, I put in the listing if something is true to size, bigger or smaller while obviously listing the label size clearly in the description and the title. Generally though I’m selling things that have been ordered and failed to return (so brand new with labels/tags or things I’ve bought and worn once for weddings/events. I’m not selling things that have been washed 30 times and stretched out of shape!
Only had a couple of people request for further measurements so I have done it. But I still find it a bit annoying 😂

Reggiebo · 08/05/2023 17:44

As a buyer I sometimes might ask re sizes. I like it when a seller has put a tape on the picture. I know my size but sizes do differ. It makes me feel more confident. Sellers have kind enough to help.

booktokbear · 08/05/2023 18:21

I got asked this am what the price of postage was, even though it is obviously clearly shown.

She was obviously just trying to get discount.

It was a £3 Mint velvet T-shirt and she complained she'd have to pay nearly double after postage. Don't buy it then!

I'd rather just give to charity than put things lower. (I have masses bagged for charity anyway)

I hear what you’re saying, but after a while you think, do you know what I’m not Marks & Spencer, it’s a pair of trousers at six quid either buy it or don’t.

Yes re wearing. No. You can’t see it on me

YANBU OP! I get asked to send a photo of the washing detail inside leg tag. Fair enough if people want all the information before parting with their cash but when it’s just £2 I’m not sure it’s worth it my end. So I just take most stuff to charity shops like before now. I can’t be bothered with it all.

Reggiebo · 08/05/2023 19:12

Thing is ...it's not £2... Once you have added postage protection is more like £5. If your abit strapped for cash then you need to be careful that your purchase will be ok. Any doubts I don't buy.

I’m going to say this. You have doubts it’s not for you

Like I said, fair enough if people want to be sure before paying but I don’t think the hassle is worth it MY end personally.

DreamiesAnonymous · 08/05/2023 20:11

My view is that if I'm trying to sell something then I need to be polite and helpful, so I always answer questions about measurements etc. It's not that much of a hassle tbh.

Likewise, if I'm interested in buying and a seller can't be bothered to answer my questions, I won't buy. I don't think it's unreasonable to ask questions about measurements (which of course can vary a lot even from one brand) or fabric etc.

That said, I have come to the conclusion that putting things on Vinted for under a fiver isn't worth the hassle and I'd rather take a bag of stuff to the charity shop.

i had this the other day but it was for quite an expensive dress so I think it was a reasonable question. I was happy to send the photo - just cropped my face out.
