Scaly Lizard Legs

AtrociousArtichoke · 04/05/2023 20:40

Please can anyone recommend a good body moisturiser?
My legs look like a komodo dragon.
I have been using Palmers Cocoa Butter which I like but it takes so long so soak in, I feel sticky for ages after.
I'd like something that soaks in fast but is very nourishing.
I also have some movement difficulties in my hands so struggle to squeeze hard bottles, the Palmers is in a tub which is manageable.
Ideally not too expensive!
Any suggestions?

Try the Sanctuary shower moisturiser-you put it on in the shower and it just soaks in by the time you get dry. Its really helped my lizard legs and smells lush!

The cerave salicylic acid moisturiser is brilliant for scaly legs

PinkFootstool · 04/05/2023 20:50

I use a few things depending on what I can be bothered to do that day 😂

Lush have body bars - I use one just for my legs. Doesn't leave you sticky, just rub on skin and that's it.

I also have the Nivea in shower moisturiser - put it on, rinse and get out the shower. The only thing is, this makes the shower slippery so I think it's got it's risks....

Aveeno is probably my back up when my skin is very scaly and itchy. You can buy it in a 1 litre bottle with a pump if that's easier to use. It's also a better price and lasts ages. £25ish on Amazon.

Try "Italy Towels" really great for exfoliating, works wonders on my scaly legs

The Body Shop Body Yoghurt comes in a tub, is super quick to absorb and is lovely and moisturizing. I like the almond one.

Happyface120 · 04/05/2023 21:14

Mine were horrendous 2 weeks ago. I discovered altruist urea cream and my legs look great!

Beautyhoard · 04/05/2023 21:15

Sanctuary stuff always sends my flying in the shower it's so oily/slippery!

I always rely on stuff for babies - if it's good for their skin it's good for mine! So things like aveno

Nivea so a pump, i use the blue one rich is slower to sink in, the white one is quicker but not as rich. Now and then i put a vaseline layer over a thick layer of ia pn legs hands and feet (with gloves and socks) to help the process.

Get yourself an exfoliation glove and use every day in the shower. Any-old moisturiser afterwards.

Magic. I promise!

DorisParchment · 04/05/2023 21:18

La Roche Posay Lipikar. But give them a good scrub first, either with a salt scrub or a Korean Italy towel.

CindersAgain · 04/05/2023 21:18

I really like the Aveeno intensive.

Body shop almond

Doggymummar · 04/05/2023 21:23

I have a shower mitt and siop ang glory scrub and moisturizer

Eukanuba · 04/05/2023 21:25

E45 rich 24hr cream is brilliant and it comes in a pump dispenser. It soaks straight in .

I’ve just started using Ameliorate transforming body lotion and am very impressed. All the rough bumps on the back of my legs have gone and the fronts are smooth and soft. My scaly, flaky, rough skin has literally been transformed.

MiddleParking · 04/05/2023 21:28

I read that more healthy fats in your diet can help with this. I don’t know whether it’s better diet or cheap-as-chips neutrogena (with a pump!) but mine are loads better than they used to be.

romaineleaf · 04/05/2023 21:35

Eucerin Aquaphor, so good for dry skin snd super fast to spray on. I love it.

I use palmers baby butter it works a treat on my legs!

BungalowLil · 04/05/2023 22:07

I read Kamin Mohammadi's book "Bella Figura" and she recommends taking olive oil each day like vitamins.

It makes such a difference to your hair, skin, everything.

I also use it as a scrub with sugar.

That ^^ also recommend the palmers anti ageing
Sanctuary wet skin jelly is amazing and you put it on in the shower, it's the clear tube one and smells of watermelon. Has exfoliating acids in so double whammy and sinks in fast
You need exfoliating and moisture in both really
For a quick top up, neutrogena deep moisture spray doesn't need rubbing in and it's easy to spray

asparalite · 04/05/2023 22:47

You probably need something a bit more hard core, I came across Dexeryl it was recommended by a beauty editor and it really is transformative!

Yellowdays · 04/05/2023 22:56

I expect you need a basic moisturiser from Boots. It worked for me after the winter.

Yellowdays · 04/05/2023 22:57

This one was prescribed for me:

WhereAreWeNow · 04/05/2023 23:00

I think it's all about the scrubbing. Mine are always like this after the winter but a bit of a scrub with an exfoliating mitt or just a rough flannel and some rich body lotion and they lose the lizard scales!

poppym12 · 04/05/2023 23:05

Ameliorate
