Which Dress? (Wedding Reception)

Hi all...
We have a wedding reception to attend in a couple of weeks. It's in a nice location and will be a smart occasion. I have bought two dresses...want to keep them both! Stuck with which to wear......
Navy one is my favourite...but is it too dark? Thinking of Navy accessories...with current weather think it's ok but perhaps not if we end up with a random heatwave!

Green one is cute but the navy one is more flattering....If I don't wear the green, I will keep it as I feel it's more versatile so I could dress it up/down and less likely to "waste" it... Plan to dress the green up with blush pink or nude accessories...

Keep both though - they're both really nice

I was going to suggest you buy both because it is so rare to find nice clothing.
The are both lovely. Where is the green dress from ?

Thanks...you're so right! I am going to keep them both.

Green is a Lipsy dress.

Thank you @Sweetapplestrudel.
With your figure and colouring you will look fab.
I'm 5ft 4 and plump. So the green wouldn't look quite so well on me.
Still a girl can dream 😀

Do you have enough time to return the navy one after the wedding if you don’t wear it? As you say, if the weather is (still) cold it will be more fitting.

wellkeptwoman · 28/04/2023 18:35

Green - navy blue looks good but it is too much of an everyday colour. Make heads turn wear green.

Aww thanks. I wasn't sure about it when I ordered it but it is quite forgiving and I don't like sleeveless dresses so the puff sleeve is great in that sense. I will defo have to wear my support pants to hold in the mum tum whichever one I wear! 😁

Unfortunately not...would need to return it next week. I don't often splash out on myself so I'm talking myself into keeping it regardless and just consider it a little treat.

Don't you dare return the navy one op 😂

It's too beautiful for that

Smartiepants79 · 28/04/2023 18:46

That green is one of my least favourite colours of all time so I’d be choosing the other one on that basis!!
Love the navy. Classy and elegant.

Tough love is needed in situations such as this 😌

SarahLHs · 28/04/2023 18:53

LOVE the navy. Green is nice but wouldn't stand out to me at a wedding but the navy would just because it's stunning.

I'd go for nude/hot pink shoes and bag though.

@Sweetapplestrudel , the Coast dress is currently only £151 - so order another at the sale price and send the one you have back.

Or call them and tell them you will be doing this - could they just give you the £38 refund and you will save them the extra postage costs.....

Straysocks · 28/04/2023 21:56

I don't know if this is a regional thing but green to a wedding? I'd check that with the bride. Maybe regional.

MissHavishamsMouldyOldCake · 28/04/2023 22:04

what's the issue with green?

Oh no!!! Hate when that happens!!! hope it isn't reduced any further! Always the risk when ordering things early...I didn't want my size to run out...

Didn't even know thay was a thing...just did a quick Google....

..."according to Irish tradition, the colour green attracts the fairies and they could bring mischief and mayhem to the event"

Well they're not Irish so I'm hoping it's ok!!! Speaking to friends today....there's two others wearing green....LOL!

Well I'm Irish and I've never heard of that one so I'd say you're safe to proceed with green! I have heard that some people are superstitious of people wearing red to a wedding, can't remember the reason though. I won't wear white and I won't wear cream but other than that I'll wear any colour that takes my fancy.

Wearing green is associated with faerie in Scotland too, from Celtic folklore.
I do love it though. I hope I've not been angering the fae folk my entire life! That's not going to go well for me.

Jk987 · 28/04/2023 23:12

The green - it's fresh and stylish. The navy looks a bit stiff and uncomfortable.
