Not sure if I've lost my mind or not- if a yes would wear with really simple dark jeans and white crew neck tee.

I really like it - not boring and not silly either

LilacpointMummy · 26/04/2023 18:10

I really like it - excited about mine coming tomorrow!
What is the sizing like? I sized up due to big boobs that never fit in anything 😭

waltzingparrot · 26/04/2023 18:15

Ah,.......... and normally I love a velvet jacket !

Porkandbeans1 · 26/04/2023 18:15

@FancyFanny I love it and it looks really nice on. What do you think, are you keeping it?

The sizing is a a tad odd- I often have to size down to a 10 in some things at Boden but had to return the 10 and swap for a 12 as it was tight at the top of the arms and shoulders on me- fairly generous on the waist though- don't think it's supposed to be too fitted. Fingers crossed it fits well for you.

I think I'll probably keep it!

I think Rose Matafeo would wear that and look amazing and that could be true for you too! Some people can carry it off. Not me though, I'd look like I was dressing up.

Nitgel · 26/04/2023 18:21

I really like that

Nitgel · 26/04/2023 18:22

Suits u

HeadNorth · 26/04/2023 18:24

You look great!

FGSWhatNow · 26/04/2023 18:27

Hm, I think it's the pairing with the black jeans and the boots that tips it from cool into the "middle-aged eccentricity" territory that you were worrying about. Definitely try it with some lighter jeans and different footwear.

MistyGreenAndBlue · 26/04/2023 18:34

Well I hate it. But tbf I loathe paisley and always have. Not keen on the colours either. Never liked bright pink or orange.
But.. it looks better on you than I expected it to. Looked worse on the model tbh.

Cotswoldmama · 26/04/2023 18:35

It's not something I would wear personally but I can see someone like sue pollard or Prue Leith wearing it and it would suit their style well. If that's your vibe then go for it.

Yeah, I agree. The jeans are dark blue- think the photo makes them look darker than they are but will try with other jeans and maybe some trainers- although I still think middle aged women in trainers can be a bit 'trying too hard to be cool' at times. I'll have to play around see what looks best.

Looks great, op, although I agree with pp that it would be even better with lighter jeans. Maybe some converse or similar?

Honestly, from the reactions I thought it was going to be far more out there.

It's really not! I couldn't be less Sue Pollard if I tried!

Tbh I think pairing it with jeans of any type tips it into the "safe category"

I'm not keen on that sort of blazer style but it would look much better over something like a Cos or Studio Nicholson style dress or skirt.

❤️

I think if you are going with a very statementy piece like the jacket, you are best following it up in the rest of the outfit. The jeans and tee with the jacket look slightly as if you are apologising for the jacket. I’d do a strong colour with the top or wear with a dress/ long funky skirt. And I would go with bright trainers.

Agreed. The safe white t-shirt and jeans make it look very ordinary. And dress or skirt and top, not jeans. If a skirt the top and the skirt should be the same colour.

Marchintospring · 26/04/2023 19:17

Bollocks. Just got mine out the wardrobe to see what you think and it doesn’t even fit!
I still like it so back in the wardrobe it goes because I ‘m definitely losing a stone soon.🙄

Skybluepinky · 26/04/2023 20:20

Not unless u want people looking at u for the wrong reasons, as in they saw it in the shop and thought no one in their right mind would buy it, it’ll b in the sale.

FancyFanny · 26/04/2023 17:39

You'll have to click on it to see full length shot!

I'm not sure exactly what people mean when they talk about carrying off. What makes one person able to carry it off but not another?

It looks really good on you. You do indeed pull it off. It looks better on you than it did on the model.

QueSyrahSyrah · 26/04/2023 20:43

I love it OP!

Circa 15 years ago I had a vintage velvet blazer and I stupidly lost it in a nightclub. I still mourn it now.

Zipps · 26/04/2023 20:59

Nope from me, I bet it will languish in your wardrobe forever. Occasionally you will take it out, put it on, then put it back in your wardrobe.
