Chanel loafers thoughts please?

Love these loafers and found them with black logos but they are typically Chanel priced at £1040!

Am I mad to buy them as a present for myself?

Had lots going on lately IVF all sorts of BS and just want to treat myself 😊

What do you think of them?

Can you go and try them on? I don't think it's mad to buy them but I would want to make sure I liked them on before committing. And with loafers you will definitely get the wear out of them as they're so versatile.

It is really up to you! Why not if you can! I could never spend that much on a pair of shoes or a bag but many can so why not.

I don’t really like them. But yes you should go and try them in the store! You might see something else you like more.

Why? I wouldn't as I think they are well made and can tell a fake personally

These rather reinforce my thoughts about Saint Laurent accessories having no real design merit and merely involve slapping a YSL on the most basic things. Indeed, these are essentially Weejuns with an added YSL!

Loafers aren't my thing - the last pair I had were from Gucci in the 90s, and haven't worn a loafer since. However, and most importantly, who cares what random online strangers think? If you love them, then go for it. The same goes for the Chanel loafers.

PS. Prada do similar loafers too.

Tbh they look very like the black school uniform shoes the girls at my son's school wore with their kilts and blazers. A bit shinier and clean perhaps but that's about it.

My view generally on these things is either get the expensive, high quality, perfect (to you) item or go right the other way - so either get the £1k Chanel ones (if those are the ones you really love) or get some from Clarks for £70 or even better, TU for £15 😀 I think some at £500 would be far more then you could spend elsewhere, & yet not bring the joy of Chanel.

The late great Victoria Wood once said in life go one way or the other, don't go beggaring about in the middle 😀 (slight bastardisation of her context, but it will suffice 😀)

Whatever you choose I hope they bring you happiness. Good luck with the IVF too, I'm a fertility treatment veteran, my unlikely baby who took what felt like forever to happen is doing his GCSEs next month 😬

I'll tag you on the Chanel chat thread! I started it after posting about my intentions to take leave of my senses & buy a white Chanel bag 😀 We had such a good chat on that thread that I started a general Chanel appreciation thread!

I splashed out, not this much!, on designer loafers last year and when they arrived, they were like slippers! 😆 Sent them back happily and made do with a much nicer and constantly worn M&S pair! If you try these on and you feel a million dollars, get them! 🌟

And actually, I also love YSL! But only the eighties stuff. I agree that these days they tend to stick the name on things just to sell them. There hasn't been any real design since he died, which is no bad thing IMHO, because it stays with his memory. But other then the Sunset bag which I do rate, I'm not a fan of contemporary YSL.

Though these do have the proper YSL logo on & not that silly 'Saint Laurent' in nondescript font 🙄

I like the Chanel ones. If YOU love them ..then get them. I have Gucci loafers from 18 years ago and paid about £100.00 a pair. I remember thinking at the time it was the same as a weeks nursery fees for us. Life goes quickly and hope you get as much pleasure from them as I have...enjoy them.

Why not just get the gucci ones? They were really popular a few years back, but imo still a very classic design that you can wear today.

i don't think the large flapped over tongue will age well.
so it's a no from me.
