Black Tie work event - help with my look

I'm possibly going to a black tie event for work in October in a hotel in London. Need a stupidly amazing dress and I want to feel on top of the world.

The dress needs to be:

1 - understated sexy but no legs on show or cleavage - I like showing shoulders, back, and calves

2 - no patterns or prints - solid colour

3- comfortable enough for me to sit down, walk, dance etc

4 - suitable for kitten pointed toes heels

5- not glittery, shiny, all gold or all silver etc

I will also need to buy a suitable bag and suitable shoes, preferably a style that I can use over and over again

I'm keen on creating a modern / youth / unassuming look yet chic and tasteful.

Please help with links, photos, tips and etc - i missed the opportunity to go last year so this year I want to enjoy to the maxxxxxxx.

Thank you!

Also I like to be mysterious.

And yet you’ve posted a recognisable photo on an avowedly anonymous site?

Always so disappointing when people do this …

I like it but I don't think its black tie.

ah I see.

TBH, the event says black tie but when I saw pics of the event that I missed last year, I was very disappointed by the outfit of the women in my team - and some of the men too, even though for them is so much easier.

I will see if I dig some photos from the event as a whole to see how ppl there are dressed.

This? Love their dresses for special occasions. I'm a high street shopper normally so always feel really fancy in them Grin

OP you said you loved this but not the colour - they have it in turquoisey green too!

Found it on Hobbs - the whole look is 543 in one shopping bag. Worth it?

Woah, OP, your budget's increased by £243 since yesterday!!

The Hobbs green silk pictured is beautiful, though, so I can see why you'd be tempted.

I never treat myself and I can wear it on so many other occasions with different accessories!

Would you go all out green? I think I would!

I love this and think it will suit your colouring OP.

A firm yes to the Hobbs green silk. Gorgeous.

Happyhappyeveryday · 22/04/2023 15:58

I think I might prefer nude or metallic shoes, but up to you.

Whataretheodds · 22/04/2023 16:28

I love that green dress. Wouldn't go all green though. Hot pink or snakeskin or metal accessories (not both the same).

You'll be able to wear it with a biker jacket and trainers for nights out.

The Hobbs dress looks, like the one I posted yesterday? If it is, I think it's really lovely.

thanks

I too coincidentally have a black tie issue but I don't really want to wear a dress...I think I'm going to wear this as it's quite cool and a lovely colour although I'm a bit worried it's cotton..

Jumpsuit not dress. I think good for work events as you can go nuts on the dancefloor and not show your knickers to your boss.
