As some of us really enjoyed talking about Chanel on my white bag thread I thought I'd start a Chanel chat thread here 🙂

I'm a lover of all things Chanel - the history of the brand, the life of Gabrielle Chanel herself, & of course the products. It would be great to have like minded others to share our knowledge & wares with 🙂

I used to be very good with my leather conditioning now I don't bother as much but I do try to ensure they are stored properly. That I think is very important. I use my minis more than anything else. Just so versatile worn to the park or into town or to a wedding. See said minis.

You have great bags. What season is the jumbo red from? Yes it's a shame about the restrictions on classics. I am not sure they will achieve what they are after making them elusive for people ready to purchase as the resale market is heaving with these bags. One just never knows with Chanel.

Thanks @Ireolu My red is from the 14C collection. A good red is hard to find! Other than this one there’s are only two other good reds IMO, from collections in 2010 and 2012.

That CC backpack takes me back to my coverting days. How has it held up? I remember seeing it on a reality TV show thinking i want that bag! You have lots of classics there -the GST. Do you still use it?

@BornBlonde my jaw is on the floor at some of these low prices for Chanel too! I guess we're so used to them costing so much more now that a double flap for £800 seems insane!

@Lykia I know what you're saying - property prices are also deeply disproportionate to salaries which is a relatively recent phenomenon, but some Chanel prices have increased exponentially, like the medium 2.55 double flap going up from £5500 to £9500 in 2 years. Your late FIL's saying is spot on. And you should definitely buy one 😉

@catwithflowers @BeaLola The only perfume I have is No 5. I once received two bottles of it on the same day from two suitors - sounds unconvincing & just like one of Coco's own embellished fictional romanticised stories about her own life but it actually is true. It's a story I shall dine out on for the rest of my life 😀

I glanced on a dating thread on Mumsnet once & learnt the concept of 'dating the thread.' I think in our case we may be 'shopping the thread' - gaining excitement vicariously from other people's purchases & collections 😀

In the Mini I can comfortably get:

The purse I bought at the same time
My iPhone (think it's a 12 but I'd have to check)
Mini tin of L'Occitane Shea butter that I carry everywhere as lip balm!

I can also get my Launer key holder in if I want to.

I always keep a nail file, couple of plasters & two paracetamol in the zipped pocket for emergencies 😀

When I get chance I'll fill it & upload a photo for you if you like? 🙂

@MummyJ12 do you keep your bags on display like that? The red is gorgeous - I'd love a red one (though I am strange with shades of colour as I said on my original white bag thread so I'm not sure it would ever work for me if I got the chance to buy one...) I'm very relieved that I don't like the Birkin or I'd be sunk 😆

How is your French & did you need to use it?! Mine isn't great but my gf lived in France for years & is fluent so I might have to take her just to translate and buy me gifts 😀

Lovely bag @AprillaCourt , how much can you fit in that size? I’m a terrible over stuffing bag person 🤦‍♀️ and I’m thinking that if I can ever afford a Chanel I should only have essentials in it, like phone, compact, lipstick and a card holder. I have a small Burberry cross body that I only use when I decide not be a bloody pack horse 🤣

@moonspiral @Ireolu My SA always says that officially they're not supposed to recommend any product, but the other day surreptitiously wrote "Fieblings 4 way care conditioner" down for me 😀

I could see that this Mini had a better space than the small Classic double flap. I think it's pretty capacious for a small bag.

INIMITABLE EXTRÊME is the name of the mascara - I only found it on the Chanel website it comes off in warm water. It's the nicest mascara I've owned.

I got my grandmother's Chanel handbag in 1980 when she died - she had been given it in 1958 (new). I didn't really understand the whole Chanel bag thing and wasn't really into that sort of thing at the time. All pre internet and didn't have access to the knowledge we have now. Someone offered me £200 for it which was a vast sum of money to me as a post-grad so I sold it. I am such a fool. I would have loved that bag now but hey ho. I buy a Chanel lipstick once a year which makes me happy.
I am very much enjoying the stories and things on this thread.
