As some of us really enjoyed talking about Chanel on my white bag thread I thought I'd start a Chanel chat thread here 🙂

I'm a lover of all things Chanel - the history of the brand, the life of Gabrielle Chanel herself, & of course the products. It would be great to have like minded others to share our knowledge & wares with 🙂

I don't have any LV but my partner (also female) loves the brand. Isn't it LV that do a bag called the Neverfull? I know so many women who swear by that one 🙂

In case anyone missed my purchases from yesterday on the thread that inspired this one, here they are. The Mini 2.55 in white with antique gold hardware, & the Classic SLG in white with champagne gold hardware.

I'm not a make-up wearer & finally at almost 48 years of age that needs to change! Do you rate the range, & would it be good for a beginner or should I start elsewhere?

It's been ages since I tried Mademoiselle - I need to go sniff round beauty counters again 😀

Don't lust after any Chanel bags but have worn their perfumes for as long as I can remember. For at least 25 years beginning with Chanel19. My daughter now wears Coco, as do I. 😍

I was a massive fan of chanel, still love the brand but not as obsessive now. I thankfully got it out of my system and my last purchase was in 2017. My wallet thanks me. I also can't justify paying so much now so I enjoy seeing others share their chanel joy so this thread shd keep me happy hopefully:)

I had a small pochette Cambon bag - I sold it as it was just too small. I wish I had bought a flap bag back them instead, the 2.55 was £840. 😣

Just out of interest how long ago was this? My large CF cost about £3.5k in 2015. I thought mad at that time. Now much more... DH, who I discuss large purchases with thought I was insane. He's seen how much I have used and loved it and no longer thinks this.

Me too - started with No 5 and then Coco Mademoiselle - my lovely DH bought me Gardenia which I love.

Fabulous collection @WowIlikereallyhateyou 💗 I especially love the metallic WOC.
I also love the Deauville. I purchased mine when I went in for another classic flap but fell in love with the Deauville instead. It looks like they’re becoming a classic too.
I was really tempted to buy more a few years ago, but Chanel have made the 2.55 and classic flaps quota bags so you can’t buy more than one every 6 months. Not that most people could afford to, especially now!

This is my collection of bags (a few Hermes Birkins and an LV have snuck in!)
I’ve started collecting other Chanel items such as jackets and clothes. I also have quite a bit of jewellery and randomly, an umbrella!

Try Chanel online @Cincinnatus or search online for your specific product. Boots are also quite good and I’m pretty sure they can send you an alert when something is back in stock. Also Harvey Nicks and Selfridges.

I adore the range. The blushes are beginner friendly. There's a foundation for everyone I like les beiges, it's quite a light fresh coverage but they have lighter too. I even like their lipbalm haha.

My local boots says they have supply issues of certain things. They don't know what or if they'll be getting things in and when. It's very frustrating. Boots online sell a lot or I order direct from the chanel website and get samples and cute packaging with it.

Tbh They've never been cheap. It's like when someone bought a house for £200k 10 years ago and now it's worth £500k it seems cheap now but wasn't at the time.

However my late FiL had a saying - what's expensive today is cheap tomorrow. He was talking about property but I guess the same applies to Chanel handbags. Hmm wonder if I should buy one then.

I have to have a Rue Cambon bag! I didn't know that 31 is largely for tourism now, interesting. She started at 21 I think? So I assume 19 is still part of that original location? It's a pilgrimage I must make at some stage in life 🙂

I messaged a friend who lives in Paris earlier & asked her if she had a spare room for visitors & if she is near Rue Cambon. She replied: "I'm about 45 mins away on the number 73 bus" 😆

You’re absolutely right, she opened her first shop at 21 Rue Cambon. It was a lot smaller and only/mainly sold hats, she moved 8 years later to 31. Which is bigger and she lived above. 31 has the very famous and fabulous mirror staircase. (Where she’d sit at the top to watch how her shows were going).

Ooh a Chanel thread! I have 2...and sadly don't think I'll be buying any more 😔

I got my WOC in 2016 for £1380 I think, it's a beautiful mauve colour and I adore it.

I got my small classic flap in lambskin and gold hardware 2 years ago for £5100 or so...

I'm happy with my 2 and I don't mind if I don't get anymore, although a mini flap or top handle would be nice!

I’m currently obsessing over the shoes - especially the trainers but over £1,000 for them makes me wince. But then I go and look at them in Selfridges in Manchester and it all seems a perfectly rational price 😂 Yet to bite the bullet though.
