Pixie cut- talk me out of it

As in the title. I LOVE pixie cuts. On other women! My hair just reached past my shoulders, for the past few years I've chopped it to a bob at this stage, always regretting it immediately. Please can someone help me grow it out without chopping it and having to live with a paper bag on my face. I could pull off a pixie, but I wouldn't style it or trim regularly, ending up looking like a sad mushroom. Why do I always get the itch to cut it!!

@Orangebadger I think I feel exactly the same... I think I like the idea of a pixie more than the practicalities! I think going to the hairdresser twice a year is enough for me.
@ApplesandPares that looks like a lot of styling!

Shouldn’t be, just a long fringe. I prefer it when I’ve tucked behind my ears to dry as then I get more texture / flicky bits. If I wanted smooth like this and it didn’t dry like that to begin with I’d just slide straighteners over it, two mins!

Some of the comments on this thread are unbelievable! Can I remind those who are saying oh well of course only pixie styles look good on people with features x, y or z, that these are ENTIRELY SUBJECTIVE VALUE JUDGEMENTS and people can do whatever they bloody want with their own hair! Christ on a bike. Also @MyGhastIsFlabbered you look lovely 💐

Anyway, OP - I have cycled through having short-long hair for the best part of twenty years and pixies have a lot going for them. They are relatively easy to manage, I think they look super classic and it can be easier to try new hair colours. The downside is mainly having to get it cut more frequently and I absolutely hate going to hairdressers. Also growing it out is just nightmarish, last time I did was in lockdown so could avoid seeing anyone during the absolute worst stages.

I now have an undercut with the bottom half of my head shaved and top half long and curly; best of both worlds and I can maintain it all myself! God only knows what the Hair Police would make of me :-D

@ChopOrNot you look great in all the photos! Good bone structure so you could probably have your hair anyway and it would look good.

Bloody hell some of the comments on this thread.
I had a very short pixie for years and I loved it and it really suited me but hairdressers being shut during lockdown was a nightmare and I grew it out, thinking about going back though. The good points are it dries really quickly, is dead easy to style, never looks messy and it never gets in your face or the way. Having said that I needed to get mine cut every 4-5 weeks, any longer and it just didn't sit right. Also greys are really obvious and it is a bit boring - you can't really do anything else with it. If you don't like it or get bored the growing out stage is excruciating.
Why don't you go for short at the back with longer sides and fringe.
