@neveradullmoment99 they said I could show the email as proof of purchase but I’m just imagining a really confused and awkward conversation so I think I’d rather just send it back to toast!

Yes, I imagine a confused conversation as well. Think I would return it to Toast as well.

faustina · 10/04/2023 14:45

I had to do that once - I think with something from Toast via John Lewis, and JL had left the security tag on. It was a bit weird going in to shops to ask, and in the end no-one local had the right device so I had to send it to JL. Probably easier all round to send it back

I remember you doing this!

faustina · 10/04/2023 15:03

@neveradullmoment99 - yes, I thought I'd posted about it on here!

MiracleToast · 10/04/2023 15:29

@neveradullmoment99 that shirt is top of my list. The reviews are not good so I’m hoping it will make its way into the next sale.

dudsville · 10/04/2023 16:13

Oh my god I've missed loads here. I saw that jumpsuit @applecatchers36 and thought it looked like good value in the sale. Your blanket looks fab @Laska2Meryls !

I've finally gone through my sale things. I've got 3 pairs of socks, also keeping the brown Bernie mittens (sending back the wine colured ones but they are both incredibly soft and cosy), I've finally got a blue emma tee as a basic layer so I'm happy about that too. I love the navy/mustard double cotton nightie - this is my 4th of this housedress style item, I love them equally but this is the softest fabric yet, quite silky for a cotton. ALso the lotus floral nightie but I'll alter the neckline. The bracken cardi is perfect and just as expected, and I also really like the olive twill shirt dress.

I'm sending a lot back, but notably I was surprised that I didn't like the hygge jumper and the buffalo check coat on me!

Snowyowl78 · 10/04/2023 22:00

@faustina yeah I can’t be bothered trapsing round shops trying to find someone to remove it!

@dudsville sorry the coat didn’t work out for you, I’m keeping mine as the size 8 worked well (even though I’m a 14!) probably won’t get to wear it until next year now

TerrierOrTerror · 10/04/2023 22:45

RE tags, we had a similar issue with JL failing to remove tags. Not Toast but a very expensive suit for a particular occasion - and we didn't notice until the day when we were away from home with no alternative outfit. Not a single shop had anything that would remove it.

dudsville · 11/04/2023 07:28

How frustrating about that tag @neveradullmoment99 , and i also would not want to go into a random shop to ask them to remove it.

I'm mostly grateful the coat didn't work for me @Snowyowl78, somehow it would have felt more indulgent than my regular toast shop habit already feels!

Snowyowl78 · 11/04/2023 09:24

@TerrierOrTerror wow that sounds incredibly stressful! Could you still wear the clothes?

@dudsville it was very indulgent, it’s the only thing I bought in the sale though :)

Laska2Meryls · 11/04/2023 12:06

New chestnut enamel mug to go with the paler kindle gift one (in the campervan) . And my second pair of Toast socks !! ( My easter gift to myself.. )😀

Saurus72 · 11/04/2023 21:37

Do you ever think that you like your Toast clothes more because they’re from Toast? Or are they genuinely way nicer to wear than other brands? In the Christmas sale I bought black linen trousers, a black boat neck 3/4 sleeve t shirt and of course the fabled socks. I’ve worn this outfit twice a week ever since I got them when wfh and I love them. The t-shirt is perfection - neckline, slim sleeves, lovely fabric. Linen trousers such good quality. And the socks…

But I wonder if I’d like wearing these things as much if they were from Primark? Or is knowing they’re from Toast a contributing factor in me wearing and loving them? Not sure. Just today’s rumblings…

Ive thought about this many times but in truth, its the cut. I have also looked for similar items and never been able to replicate the things on Toast.

Stoic123 · 11/04/2023 22:19

@Saurus72 - I do wonder sometimes too. I think that when Toast does something well, it really is great. Well designed and lovely material. I find that I reach for Toast more than other clothes (though there is becoming less and less of other brands in my wardrobe).

But, I do have a tendency to apply a Toast 'halo effect' even if an item doesn't suit/isn't as nice and this has led to costly mistakes in the past (keeping things I should have returned). I have learnt to be a bit more discerning now.

dudsville · 11/04/2023 22:20

I wonder this at times @Saurus72. There are clothes that are well made or nicely designed in good fabric at cheaper prices, and they can be good too, and ethical, but it's not the same. Whenever i wear toast (which as this board knows is mostly 100%) i always get at least one compliment, and from all ages but ngl, the consistent compliments from the young folks are reassuring.

Toast clothes are interesting to look at, but it's a discreet looking brand, unless you know the brand you wouldn't recognise it, so it feels indulgent without being showy. They make me feel more confident. I've had individual items from other shops in the past that made me as happy, but I've never come across a brand producing so many things I like that it inspired fidelity. That could also be an age thing though - i know we're spanning a few years on this thread but for me it might be that at my age I've finally learned how to shop for me and toast made it simple by being a brand that fits the bill. I know someone who feels the same way about white stuff and buys whole outfits as depicted in the displays for ease and because it suits her and makes her happy.

Countmeout · 12/04/2023 08:54

I think it’s the cut, the materials, the feel of the clothes that I find so hard to replicate from another brand.

TerrierOrTerror · 12/04/2023 09:44

Wore my current season Gingham Dress for the first time last week and it has developed a not so small hole under the arm. A few hours wear over dinner at the most - not impressed!

Saurus72 · 12/04/2023 09:48

Yep I agree, Toast clothes are really truly different. Although I also agree about the ‘halo’ effect of maybe keeping things I wouldn’t necessarily from other brands. I wear some of my older Toast clothes to work and am also surprised/pleased when 20-something women in my team say nice things about them! Probably my best compliment has been that one of my sale dresses from a couple of years ago was mistaken for Ganni 😊.

Countmeout · 12/04/2023 10:48

Which dress is that @TerrierOrTerror ?
That is disappointing although I am sure they will sort it out for you.

dudsville · 12/04/2023 11:44

How disappointing @TerrierOrTerror ! I had that once with a jumper from Harley's, in a few places on the jumper, it felt mean that a pricey jumper should do that immediately, that said, I fixed it and it's never happened again, and it's still one of my prettiest jumpers.

ScottishMouse · 12/04/2023 12:13

What do we know about returns outside the 14 day period (for sale items)? It is 16 days since the parcel was delivered, but it will still let me get a returns label online. What will happen if I return it? I think some folks have had experience of creating returns online when slightly outside of the returns window? Thanks!

dudsville · 12/04/2023 12:37

I sent back returns yeterday, A lot of us would have had the 2 week deadline wne over the BH weekend. For me, I don't know for certain that they'll be accepted, but I wasn't able to use the returns online portal so had to go through that chat function and get them to generate the qr codes. I didn't ask them if my return was ok and they didn't say that it wasn't.
