As a size 16/18. Am wondering about it for a cocktail type dress.

I had been thinking clashing for shoes etc, maybe orange or red? With some sort of clutch bag? Not sure why sort of look to go for with hair, currently have sort of between chin and shoulder length bob with undercut

I thought it was a dressing gown😳!!

Parroteets · 31/03/2023 20:32

I honestly don't like it. Have you got your heart set on it? It's very loud (colour) and is too fussy/drapey.

Parroteets · 31/03/2023 20:35

TK Maxx has some evening dresses, have you looked there or, P**hase Eight?

I thought it was a dressing gown😳!!

You have more glam nightwear than me 😁

Not dead set, I have another dress that I bought last year and never wore, but have fallen out of love with. Saw this in Vinted and my curiousity was piqued.

It’s quite expensive given the fabric. I don’t dislike it but it might look cheap when it arrives.

3WildOnes · 31/03/2023 20:41

Gold clutch. Red or gold heels. Gold jewellery.

Mumskisail · 31/03/2023 20:44

It looks like a cheap dressing gown to me, so I wouldn't. Really sorry 🤷‍♀️

DisforDarkChocolate · 31/03/2023 20:52

It looks a lot better in the video than in the pictures.

I'd probably aim for gold or silver.

MsDastardley · 31/03/2023 21:38

They’ve started stocking this brand in store at my local House of Fraser. I checked it out as I’ve seen it mentioned on here a lot. The quality was very poor and it all looked cheap.

This is what I have from last year (cancelled attendance at event due to babysitter illness) and I’m just not feeling it. Feels a little old fashioned, and may make me look matronly?!

https://emilyandfin.co.uk/products/florence-teal-cotton-satin-dress

It's much , much nicer. It's a nicer colour, it looks more expensive than it is and more expensive than the other dress. And looks like a dress, not a dressing gown.

Tatapie · 31/03/2023 22:48

Could you wear it with ankle boots to make it less matronly?
Agree it's a much nicer dress :-)

Abcdefgh1234 · 31/03/2023 22:49

I’m sorry but its very tacky.

TennisWithDeborah · 31/03/2023 22:52

Ahhh that second dress really is lovely. I like the way they’ve styled the dotted version with ankle boots.

Throwaway0323 · 31/03/2023 22:52

The first one is awful (in my opinion) the second one is beautiful!

IhearyouClemFandango · 31/03/2023 22:54

Maybe I'll stick to what I've already got then. I feel quite conscious that being on the larger side, and edging into my 40ies it is very easy to look stuffy, not the 'edgy' young thing I once was!

The version I have is a slightly more greeny real than that one.

I love the first one. I'd match it with purple heels. The second one is dated. All those bright colours are in fashion .

There's nothing edgy about the first dress.

The second one is lovely - and fully lined too.

GDPRBreach · 31/03/2023 23:05

The pink one looks like you may be at risk of flashing your knickers.

TedMullins · 31/03/2023 23:41

Well I disagree with everyone else! I love the first one - it is more current. The second looks like the faux vintage look that was fashionable in about 2008

Gold dressing gown

The gold version is even more like a dressing gown. I don't know about "current". To me it's more like the sort of faux- glamorous, knock-off WAG dress that's been around, well since the days when WAG style became a concept.

(Disclaimer - I really hated Mrs Beckham, Mrs Rooney etc being described like that but the first dress is of a style the tabloid papers might describe as WAG)

Never fully dressed is the right name for that website if that's the sort of dress advertised.

knobheadex · 01/04/2023 04:03

Another one who loves it and thinks dress two is a bit dowdy here. Purple shoes would be great, like Esska suede heels.

Begoniasforever · 01/04/2023 04:07

I think that would be very difficult to wear well , it will be shiny and cheap looking and you would look like you’d stepped out of the quality street tin. It is far from edgy. Sorry op.

sashh · 01/04/2023 04:40

The second one is much better, I agree with going metallic gold or silver clutch and shoes, possibly a belt. You could add a shrug in a metallic colour too.
