Is anyone else having problems with Boots?

Ive tried several times now to place an order but it won’t process the payment. I spoke to their customer service who told me they were having some issues. They said I should go into a store and make an order, but what’s the point of having a website if I have to traipse into town to order a delivery? Plus, I have gift cards I need to use up that can only be spent online.

This is weeks after not being able to log into my account.Honestly, how do they make money? They have the very worst website I’ve ever encountered. I can’t be the only one having these issues.

OP posts:

I placed an order yesterday but not before being logged out several times first.

The Next website is probably worse because every thing I click on is unavailable. Take them down then grr!

EddieSteady · 26/03/2023 02:34

I placed an order with them this week which went through fine.

I hate the Boots website and the app

it definitely needs a overhaul

Oopstheregoesanotherrubbertreeplant · 26/03/2023 03:07

I tried to place orders for presents in December last year and had a series of issues: being logged out part way through shopping, refusing to let me change the delivery address, and then repeatedly starting but not finishing taking payment. Had to order from John Lewis instead and haven't tried the Boots website since.

BammBamm · 26/03/2023 03:11

Same issues, always takes several attempts to order. Alternate between app and website.

JaneJeffer · 26/03/2023 03:15

I deleted the app because it just wouldn't work anymore.

Cherubiminal · 26/03/2023 10:14

That's why I stopped ordering on their site, I use Superdrug now, better range, better prices, there were a few glitches a while back but I've had no issues recently.

Purplecatshopaholic · 26/03/2023 10:16

Yup, their web site is truly terrible.

BelindaBears · 26/03/2023 10:20

Their website is shit and always has been. I don’t understand why they’ve never tried to improve it.

FeetZelet · 26/03/2023 10:38

Boots website is often the subject of beauty blog discussions that are heavily negative e.g. Caroline Hirons. It’s astounding that such a large company with widespread negative feedback hasn’t improved its online service. My current order will be my last, one item of four arrived with some random vitamins thrown in. Customer Service via phone insisted I must return in store to be refunded for the missing items missing the whole point of online shopping. Emailed and they are now saying the missing items are enroute. Have had other difficulties with website & app so will be avoiding now.

Usernamen · 26/03/2023 10:43

They owe me ~£30 of Advantage Card points relating to an online order, so yes, I definitely have issues with them.

I think that must be a 'thing' they're doing. I ordered 2 items this week and everything was fine but arrived with some vitamins and a hand sanitizer too..

Oh that might be it so, random marketing as opposed to an error.

Begonias · 26/03/2023 11:09

I placed an order twice and it kept saying failed internal validation checks. I've given up and ordered the items from Superdrug. Customer services were useless as the didn't have a clue why the error kept coming up.

TankFlyBoss · 26/03/2023 11:15

Also had the random vitamins in my order!

CinnamonJellyBeans · 26/03/2023 11:26

Ordering from the website is impossible, as it doesn't let me pay: Most transactions are aborted at the checkout, no matter how many different ways I try to pay.

I have spent all my points on my card and am sticking to superdrug. The website is easier to navigate and they do offers, which are just as good. Superdrug stores are also nicer to shop in; there are more staff and they are friendly.

WrinklesShminkles · 26/03/2023 11:32

Were the Vitamins a small bottle of Vitamin D? I got one too. I remember Vit D being recommended during the early Covid era, so I think Boots stocked up and are now giving it away before it "expires" (in June for mine). I remember them giving away hand sanitiser before - but nobody wanted it 😂

Oopstheregoesanotherrubbertreeplant · 26/03/2023 11:50

Just came across this article: https://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/markets/article-11901695/Boots-sale-cards-owner-looks-US.html

Boots could be sold off or floated, by it's American parent company, by the end of the year. They already tried and failed in January 2022. Boots' shops and website possibly feel neglected and unloved because, to its parent company, it is.

Boots sale on cards as owner looks to US

Investors and board members want Stefano Pessina and Rosalind Brewer to speed up plans to refocus the business on the US.

You're probably correct. Over-stocked so giving then away. I got vit D AND hand sanitizer so I hit the jackpot!

Yes Vit D here too, overstocking makes more sense to them being included without any reference.

VanillaSpiceCandle · 26/03/2023 14:41

The worst retailer website and app in the UK. The worst thing is they keep sending me emails telling me they’ve updated and improved both, but when I try and shop on either it’s still the same. Absolutely shite. Boots should be ashamed.

Colourfingers2 · 26/03/2023 14:45

Yes they no longer have Selsun Shampoo. They have deliberately discontinued it purely to inconvenience the people who need it and for whom nothing else has ever worked.

woodhill · 26/03/2023 14:47

I find the Boots emails have no content when sent

ifIwerenotanandroid · 26/03/2023 14:57

I managed to get some stuff for free when Boots emailed to say I had to use a load of points I'd collected by a certain date. So I paid for the whole order in points, & I got everything I ordered. But I had to ring customrer services twice to get the order to go through. If it hadn't been for free & with a deadline, I would've given up.

JMTWords · 26/03/2023 16:38

I've had payment issues as well as lack of order updates. Pre Christmas I didn’t get any emails about 2 click and collects orders I’d placed and ended up having to go to the shop and beg them to check, even though the system said the orders weren’t there. They were there. I shop in store now to use up my points, unless I can get free home delivery.
