Actually wide running trainers

Can anyone recommend a brand of running trainers that does wide fit?

It needs to be proper wide fit and not just a brand that’s slightly wider than others.

Thanks 😊

Have you tried men’s? They tend to be wider as a default.

PosiePerkinPootleFlump · 22/03/2023 19:02

As pp said, mens are wider as default.
I have a wide foot at the front, but narrower ankle, so find mens too big on the ankle.
I used to always run in Altras but whilst I like the wider toe box I don't always love the zero drop, and they have recently made lots of their Road shoes narrower.
Just discovered Topo which are amazing. So comfy and loads of room.

I just bought a pair of ASICS gel kayano 29 and they fit my wide feet perfectly . I've tried lots of different brands over the years, but I've always come back to ASICS. The only advice I can give you is to go and try on lots of pairs: don't go by reviews. I ordered a few different pairs by other manufacturers (before the ASICS I just bought) that were positively reviewed by women with wide feet but none of them were wide enough and I had to return them which was a faff.

In the end I just went into a shop in my favourite old ASICS and explained the problem and tried on a few different brands before making my choice.

ASICS

Brooks come in 5 different width fittings if you buy direct.

MrsFionaCharming · 22/03/2023 19:14

I tried on a pair of men’s Asics yesterday that were borderline wide enough. Maybe I need to try on some other Asics styles but I’d lost the will to live trying on shoes by that point!

I normally wear mens

handsoffate · 22/03/2023 19:26

Karhu. I was fitted with these at a specialist running shop.

EllaPaella · 22/03/2023 19:33

I have really wide fit and find most Nike trainers are a good fit. Can't wear any other brand of running trainers as too narrow.

deeplybaffled · 22/03/2023 19:35

I have altras - definitely wide toe box, but zero drop takes a little adjusting to.

Flangeosaurus · 22/03/2023 19:37

New Balance are nice and wide, I couldn’t get on with Asics at all

banjaxxed · 22/03/2023 19:38

Sketchers do wide fit

Swearwolf · 22/03/2023 19:39

As someone else said, Brooks do a wide fit. And they're great trainers!

SouthCountryGirl · 22/03/2023 19:42

Hoka do wide fit

JamieFraserskneewarmer · 22/03/2023 19:43

Another recommendation for Brookes wide fit

MintJulia · 22/03/2023 19:44

I'm 5'8" and have size 41 feet. I wear men's size 41 ASICS trainers.

They are wide enough, fabulously comfortable and have the added advantage that they come in black. No pink bits in sight 😊

JulesJules · 22/03/2023 19:44

Brooks. I've got really wide feet and my Brooks trainers are so comfortable.

pictoosh · 22/03/2023 19:48

Um…Altra Lone Peak and La Sportiva Akasha have both been good for my wide feet. They are trail shoes though, don’t know if you’re looking for road running shoes.

BlossomBud · 22/03/2023 19:50

I find ASICS are fine for everyday wear but I find them too narrow for running. Brooks are the only pair of comfortable trainers I’ve been able to find.

ASICS are narrow!

Brooks and New Balance do width fittings.

LaughingLemur · 22/03/2023 20:13

Brooks wide fit are amazing. Even better if you buy men's wide fit as they're wider than the women's.

MrsFionaCharming · 22/03/2023 20:25

Sounds like Brooks are the ones to try. Are they stocked in actual shops anywhere?

I wear Hoka's. They do wide fit running shoes, I need them to cope with my bunions. They're really comfortable.

fellrunner85 · 22/03/2023 20:44

Another vote for Brooks wide fit. You can find Brooks in all running shops - see if there's an Up and Running near you.
Don't go anywhere near Hoka; they're really narrow. Their wide fit are like any other brand's ordinary fit.

CMOTDibbler · 22/03/2023 20:51

I wear Hoka wide fit, and On Running Cloudstratus (which are just very wide in themselves). DH wears Brooks wide fit
