Hello to style this dress please

We’ve been invited to an outdoor garden summer wedding and I’ve bought this dress. The invite says in the other info part that heels may not be the most appropriate footwear for the ground (it’s apparently very grassy at the venue). I only have heels and have no idea of what flat footwear would suit this dress. I’ll be wearing my hair similar to the link, would you bother with a fascinator or hat? Also would you style this with a jacket or a pashmina/shawl?

Help much appreciated.

The thread title should have said HOW to style this dress!

Id try and find wedges or something with a blockier heel as you're less likely to sink in the grass. Id probably find some diamante flat slider type as a back up!

paradyning · 05/03/2023 13:59

Some esska heels?

esskashoes.com/collections/mid-heels will stop you sinking into the grass

LauraSaidIShouldBeNicer · 05/03/2023 14:01

How about flat strappy sandles?

It doesn’t mean flats, necessarily. Wedges or block heels will be fine. Just not stilettos or kitten heels.

Thisisthedawningoftheageofaquarius · 05/03/2023 14:05

Not sure how high you like shoes; I think a nude wedge would look fab; I have these and they are quite low and would work but there is a higher version that would be lovely also

A wedge would be nice, gives a bit of height but you won’t sink into grass! Castaner are v comfy.

SurpriseSparDay · 05/03/2023 14:10

No you won’t need a hat (or fascinating) for a presumably relatively relaxed garden wedding.

The dress is poorly styled on the website - it looks stupid with spindly heels! Some better-than-basic espadrilles would work. Or something like

this

or photo from Zara, below.

Wedges all the way. Lovely dress!

MaudorMatilda · 05/03/2023 14:36

I love it
With wraps I add tapes to the underneath side to keep it closed when moving around. It gives confidence if having to chase after a fast moving child.

LlynTegid · 05/03/2023 15:24

Outdoor wedding suggests grass, uneven footpaths and in any case possibly some damp underfoot. So heels would be a bad idea.

Lovely dress.

Niftythrifter · 05/03/2023 15:45

Agree with the wedges comment and post wedding they will be great for summer etc.

Pieceofpurplesky · 05/03/2023 15:55

Wedges on uneven ground would result in a broken ankle in my case.

I would go for flats - perhaps sparkly sandals. I would also take a cardi/wrap for later

ColdfeetEd · 05/03/2023 16:22

Is it me or is the dress too big in the model? For a wrap dress it doesn’t seem to be fitted very well around her waist and looks too big on her shoulders?

anyway agree with above, wedges or slightly heeled sling backs, plain but good quality material cardigan for if it gets colder and a summery bag.

CharlotteStreetW1 · 05/03/2023 17:27

I have a very similar dress (although a totally different fabric) for a wedding this year and I will be wearing it with these (see pic). I've also got them in beige (which is more like a pinky nude).

They have loads of others though.

And I will be wearing a "hatinator"

  • I can't help myself 😁 - from Light In The Box like this.

I think a straw fedora with a big flower (is so a peony) on the side would be amazing with the dress and tan leather wedges.

for a cover up I would do a lilac or silver fitted slightly cropped cashmere cardigan.

Daffodilsandbeer · 05/03/2023 17:39

Don’t wear a hat or fascinator. Irs not necessary and you will feel daft. If you wear a fascinator. You will also look daft 😄

DaffodilDiva · 05/03/2023 19:21

@CharlotteStreetW1 these are just my style! Thanks so much. @Bunce1 I love the idea of a cashmere cardigan and will have a look, the wedding is in Scotland so you can never be sure of the weather.

If the wedding is in Scotland, be prepared with layers, wellies, sunscreen, brolly #4seasonsinoneday

Love these. In a different colour they will be prefect with OP's beautiful dress

haribonoyoudont · 05/03/2023 20:13

If you have your hair clipped/pinned up a little, you could get some pretty sparkly pins, instead of a hat/fascinator.

Tooley76 · 05/03/2023 20:23

Gorgeous dress. Nude leather wedge sandals are a wardrobe staple!

Those are lovely and fit the style of the dress. The Eska platforms are hideous.

If the wedding is in Scotland be prepared for the distinct possibility that at some point you'll be doing Scottish country dancing. A low wedge will be invaluable there.
