Longchamp le Pliage www.johnlewis.com/longchamp-le-pliage-original-large-shoulder-bag/navy/p5051141?tmad=c&tmcampid=7&s_share=jlappios_Y29tLmFwcGxlLlVJS2l0LmFjdGl2aXR5Lk1lc3NhZ2U=

I have several of these and I don’t baby them and whether I should or not I don’t know, but I stick mine in the wash when needed. I think you can get bag organisers for them from the usual sources.

Yep to all of this. I’ve had one for about ten years and wish I could justify replacing it (for a colour change) but it’s in such good condition still. I have a smaller one too for when I don’t need to carry much. Lightweight, hard wearing, but still look good 👍🏻

Another vote for Longchamp!

Never thought about washing them like that! The leather handles and flap ok in the wash?

Niftythrifter · 05/03/2023 13:04

@journeyofsanity I accept no liability if you do put them in the washing machine and don’t turn out right but I have had no issues apart from around 15 or so years back when the nylon bubbled. I just do a 30 min cycle with an extra short spin cycle.

My favourite tote is the LV neverfull but you’ll be pushed to find one for that even second hand. H&M have some surprisingly nice ones!

I’m on the look out for another nice tote - however I’m using a 10 year old Le pliage and it’s looking as good as new. The only issue is I have the biggest size and it’s a bit big and I’d love it to have some pockets inside.

Niftythrifter · 05/03/2023 18:38

@LimeCheesecake get a bag organiser!

LimeCheesecake · 05/03/2023 19:55

I’ve tried bag organisers - they don’t tend to work as well as a bag with actual pockets and sections. I did have a fabulous Radley bag that I picked up in John Lewis walking through their clearance years ago and one of the cheaper bags I owned, but perfect size, shoulder strap length, and pockets to general bag area. However the straps have gone (often do with the thin straps they use), and after flinging discovered everyone seems to just want a big empty bag now with no built in organisation, so might we well just use the Le pliage.

Kate Sheridan does excellent tote bags in two sizes. I have two of them. they're very light but strong, and also seemingly bombproof
