Not the most exciting of threads, I'm afraid!

Should I keep these shoes for wearing to work, or are they a bit teenage, perhaps even toddlerish, for a 40yo woman?

I had a pair of shoes very similar to them, no pattern and not patent in my forties, loved them, very comfy and suited my not trendy dress sence. If you like them and they are comfy go for it. Was over 20 years ago 😁

I think little girl stuff on adult women can look a bit Grayson Perry, unfortunately.

🤣

I do like them though

tregunamekoidestrecorumsatisdee · 01/03/2023 18:35

Thanks OP I've just ordered a pair 😊

RaininSummer · 01/03/2023 18:40

I loathe that style as I think they look like toddler clown shoes but they may be very comfortable and good for your feet so if you like them go for it.

Cotswoldmama · 01/03/2023 18:48

It depends on your style, I wouldn't personally wear them but I can imagine someone like Esme Young from the sewing bee wearing them and looking great.

Infinitebows · 01/03/2023 19:07

Love these! Definitely keep.

ArianahX · 01/03/2023 19:46

Return. Only suit 2 yr olds in my world.

FruHagen · 01/03/2023 20:13

Return them.

Absolutely they look like little girls shoes. I find grown women in children's attire creepy nowadays. Something to do with how youth is so fetishized. I don't think I always thought like this.

dudsville · 01/03/2023 20:18

They're fabulous! Fwiw, they aren't my look, my feet are too big, but i can appreciate them on others. Some may think they're very young, but i think these would look really great with a wonderfully otherwise adult outfit. They'd make it fun and not dowdy, iyswim.

cornflakegeneration · 01/03/2023 20:22

I love them.

And clearly so do other people as they are "selling fast".

fiorentina · 01/03/2023 20:58

I would feel I wouldn’t be taken seriously wearing those to work.

purpledalmation · 01/03/2023 21:04

I wore them to school and still love them. Mary janes shoes?

WhistleWhileIWork · 01/03/2023 21:06

I dunno. If worn with some stylish ankle grazer/rolled up jeans or trousers, simple top and casual blazer jacket, I think an adult could get away with them. But I think tights and dresses would def give a toddler appearance.

Absolutely fine with what you suggest and also with a dress, depending on the dress. Plain jumper dress, yes, Little House on the Prairie dress, probably no.

chevvyroo · 01/03/2023 17:48

Return! You are correct when you describe them as toddlerish.

This

They honestly look like dds Clarks shoes from primary school.

NatashaDancing · 01/03/2023 21:13

Should have read the thread before posting.

Keep them.

YES! I thought the same.

MadameMatisse · 01/03/2023 21:17

I think they're dire, but we don't all like the same things.

NatashaDancing · 01/03/2023 21:25

UWhatNow · 01/03/2023 21:14

YES! I thought the same.

Schuh has several flat t- bar shoes for women on their website including their own brand, Clarks, and Doc Martens.

They do not look like Grayson Perry.

grumpycow1 · 01/03/2023 21:30

What are you planning to wear them with? Not loving them with the tights but I think they’d work with barrel leg jeans and a blazer or cropped/French tucked jumper or shirt.

itsallgonepetetongagain · 01/03/2023 21:30

Definitely return 😬 sorry OP

PatientlyWaiting21 · 01/03/2023 21:30

I thought “aw they’re sweet” then realised they weren’t for a 5 year old. Return.

Lavender14 · 01/03/2023 21:31

Keep I really like them

Greensleevevssnotnose · 01/03/2023 21:31

Mary Jane's are the fashion right now. Love em
