I have to say @venus7 the skirt hangs really well and is very swishy. I’m not sure how it could become so crinkled in wear to make it the opposite.

Thanks, that's reassuring; just extremely crinkled in transit then!

CureForLove · 29/03/2023 19:47

@venus7 I returned the nasturtium fluid tie neck dress in the last sale for just yhat reason. Arrived creased. Tumbled eith warm air on my dryer's "gentle smoothing " programme and hung it up. It creased sgain just hanging there! Life's too short imo.

Ah......dammit. This is what I feared. I've steamed it, transit creases came out reluctantly, will wear around the house, if it creases every time I sit down, it will have to go back, much as I love the colour and shape. Viscose can be a pain.

lordloveadog · 29/03/2023 22:54

Does anyone have one of the cotton oxford easy shirts - are they very oversized? How's the booby space? I'm thinking of trying a shirt for spring.

ToastCosILoveIt · 29/03/2023 23:13

I had an unexpected trip to the Marylebone Toast today as I was in that area and so diverted to have a quicklook. Two purchases were made - the Novesta Trail trainers in navy to replace some old Novestas from Toast (https://www.toa.st/collections/womens-trainers-plimsolls/products/novesta-marathon-trail-trainers-dark-navy Definitely ones to size up in: i am a 5/38 and bought the 39s. I will wear them with Toast dresses etc on long walks and holidays.

I also bought the Mariner Hemp Cotton navy skirt which was a surprise purchase as I wouldn't have looked at it twice online but it is surprisingly flattering and lovely to wear. I am a 12 but this size was very roomy and so I went down to a 10. I am now thinking about the paprika version but the price (£195) is off putting. As a result of this purchase I will send back the sale denim big pocket skirt that i bought in the sale as this skirt suits me much better. Here is the link - https://www.toa.st/collections/womens-skirts/products/mariner-hemp-cotton-skirt-dark-chambray-blue

I was also tempted by the birkenstock black mules, the tie neck floral print fluid dress, the garment dyed balloon linen trousers (the small as opposed to the medium flattered my size 12 frame) and the stripe alpaca cotton sweater(the medium and the large both suited). I tried on the boatneck garemtn dyed linen dress in tangerine but wasn't sure if it was a bit shapeless (medium).

Oh and i wanted to try on the rope embroidered cotton polin shirt but they only had it in XS which looked tiny. I also tried on the sailor collar denim shirt in a 12 but it was shapeless: i now see that the review online says to size down.

dudsville · 30/03/2023 05:03

I like the look of this trainers v much @ToastCosILoveIt, did you size up for width or length or something else? I'm always a 39 in everything until it comes e to birks, where although i have to choose narrow fit i seem to be the only person to go up a size!

I'll also be curious how the hemp skirt wears re wrinkles. If you get a chance to feedback at some point.

lordloveadog · 30/03/2023 06:52

Interesting report, @ToastCosILoveIt!

Those trainers are gorgeous. How narrow are they?

Noeggsontoast · 30/03/2023 07:24

@ToastCosILoveIt that's a great report. Thanks for sharing.

Those trainers are lovely. Interesting about sizing up in those as I'm a 38 and found the novesta star masters in a 38 too big but the 37 too small and no half size. I had resigned myself that brand is not for me.

I have that alpaca stripe jumper in a green colour way as they did it last year. I love that it's quite short in the body as it works well with high waisted and wide leg trousers and skirts.

You made me look at that hemp skirt, I had also not given it a look on the website but now notice it has an elasticated section around the back and very flat across the front. Im imagining it would make it super comfortable and I can see how it will be super flattering.

Enjoy your purchases.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 30/03/2023 08:33

Interesting report @ToastCosILoveIt thank you.

I’ve been dithering between the Boatneck dress in tangerine or the Panelled cotton linen dress in dhal, being busty makes it difficult to assess them from just looking online.

ToastCosILoveIt · 30/03/2023 09:50

@dudsville , I probably sized up for a bit of both: 39 felt like a generous 38 while 38 felt like a small 38.

@lordloveadog , I would say they aremedium width. My feet are overall narrow but with a dodgy left big toe which pushes out its width and they are a good fit.

@Noeggsontoast , it is the elastic and the flat front that does indeed make it flattering and disguises my menopausal tummy. There are also two buttons on each side and so you can pull in or relax the skirt as needed.

@Theteapotsbrokenspout , I am busty too but it is the bit from the waist down that I was worried about. The bust was fine and flattering. I do like that panelled dress in dhall but would want to check if the colour was vibrant enough as I am a big fan of bright orange. I took a picture of it on so will DM you.

FiddleFigs · 30/03/2023 09:54

I too popped into the Marylebone branch this week. I didn't find any of the things that I've been hoping to try on. But I surprised myself by trying, loving and buying the drawstring denim jumpsuit, which is not my usual sort of thing at all. It is lovely - and long! I'm 5'10" and it's just the right amount of cropped on my rather long legs (so might well be floor-sweeping on anyone under 5'7"). I went for a 10, which is my usual Toast size for dresses and trousers.

@Theteapotsbrokenspout - the boatneck dress in tangerine is lovely, but a bit slight. It seemed too lightweight a piece for the longer sleeves, if that makes sense?

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 30/03/2023 11:22

@ToastCosILoveIt @FiddleFigs Thanks for the feedback, I think I’ve just been reluctant to order as the panelled dress is more expensive but that sounds like a better bet.

neveradullmoment99 · 30/03/2023 11:46

Well denim pinafore came. It is quite neat in a 12 for me. I do like it though and it has a bit of stretch.
The green cardigan came today and It is the most gorgeous colour of green. Nowhere near as bright as the website but I love it loads more! Anway, tried it on and was disappointed it was so neat. Then looked at the label and realised I'd ordered an xs. So went on to online chat and have ordered a medium. So pleased as they only had 2 left in stock.

Saurus72 · 30/03/2023 11:58

@Theteapotsbrokenspout I tried the linen boatneck dress in orange on Saturday. I’m a curvy size 14 and tried the small and I was disappointed in the fit. The arms and shoulders were perfect, very flattering. Too small over the bust. Very voluminous in the skirt. I had the exact same experience with the Franca indigo twill dress, the lack of space for the bust was a problem but sizing up means it’s too big all over and is too sack-like for my taste. So it was a sad no to the orange dress which was a a shame because the colour is soooo good.

Snowyowl78 · 30/03/2023 12:03

@Theteapotsbrokenspout @ToastCosILoveIt i have the dhal panel dress, I’m dithering over it only because I’ve kept the slate on and paid for it to be taken up so it’s a very expensive purchase, as I’ll need to take the dhal one up too. I do love it thought. Colour works for me as it’s not too bright and would tone with lots of things I think. I think it’s true to toast sizing and really flattering. Would be interested to see pics of other people in it!

Saurus72 · 30/03/2023 12:07

@Snowyowl78 I had originally gone into Toast on Saturday to try the panelled dress but they didn’t have it in stock, hence trying the boatneck one. I’m in 2 minds because I think I would go for the slate one, but I already have a lot of navy and fancy something brighter. Not sure my v pale skin could handle the dhal tho.

Snowyowl78 · 30/03/2023 12:31

@Saurus72 im pale too but I think it would be nice on all skin tones, I like that sort of muted orange.

im happy today because Toast found me a Buffalo coat return! So worth asking on the chat if they have sale returns. Anyone else got this coat yet?

MaroonedOnADesertIsland · 30/03/2023 13:55

I might ask on the chat about the neat cardigan then. Does anyone have it and can advise on sizing? I normally take M in Toast but am broad shouldered and have an ability to shrink most woollens 😳
My oil / birch dress (ordered right at the end of the sale) has not been dispatched yet, though the Forest boots (ordered at the beginning) were dispatched straightaway. Guess they must be busy.
As I was restrained in the sale I ordered the wide legged jeans (they are reasonably priced for Toast) so can report back if anyone is interested.

@Laska2Meryls sorry I never thanked you for the info about Article Green, was useful thanks.

MaroonedOnADesertIsland · 30/03/2023 14:26

Great update and purchases @ToastCosILoveIt !

Dee1224 · 30/03/2023 14:31

@neveradullmoment99 I am glad the pinafore has worked out!

I am currently on the chat to see if I can get smaller sizes in a couple of the sale items I returned.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 30/03/2023 14:38

@Snowyowl78 Thank you, I shall order in the 10, my normal Toast size. I was hoping to get to a store but it is over 2 hours from me and there’s always a chance things aren’t in stock.

Dee1224 · 30/03/2023 14:58

I am having no luck via Chat.

Unfortunately I didn’t have the product codes, just the names, which would probably have helped. I do think it depends sometimes on who you get and whether they check/can check returned sale items that are no longer on the website.

Oh well😿
