Hello Mumsnet, can you tell me what you think of this outfit? Just a weekend casual that's a bit different. Please be honest. I'm 40 if that makes a difference.

Love it ☺️

DuchessOfSausage · 25/02/2023 11:24

Needs some patent boots with some sort of heel

Niftythrifter · 25/02/2023 11:30

I like it

notawittyname1954 · 25/02/2023 11:48

Is it two parts. being a boring 70 year old I would probably wear them separately. I think the trousers would look good with a plain top in that colour of the band on the top. If its all in one it does look great on you. You have a good figure for it. I agree about the boot suggestion.

dudsville · 25/02/2023 11:51

I think it's cute! I would struggle to find shoes for winter wear, what kind of shoes are you thinking of wearing?

laurwalsh · 25/02/2023 12:08

Thank you. It's a bit 70s style and a bit of fun I thought. My boyfriend is not a fan at all. Still figuring out shoes for daytime wear. Currently these are the ones I'm wearing.

Do you really want honesty? You have a fantastic figure but the outfit is awful. Your age is not relevant.

Yea boyfriend thinks it's awful too 😞 I don't know why I'm drawn to it either! I'm usually a safe dresser!!

Is this it? Sorry but if it is, it's even worse from the front.

laurwalsh · 25/02/2023 12:13

Yea it is lol

Sorry those shoes are absolutely wrong for that outfit. You look like you've pit your slippers on to take the bins out.

Shoes-wise you need a boot with a bit of a heel even if a low block, or platformish sandals/mary Janes or mules.

It's a statement outfit so you have to commit to it a bit and wear it with confidence.

sevenbyseven · 25/02/2023 12:14

Possibly with the right accessories for an event. But not with those shoes and not for casual. Although possibly as separates would work for casual - eg the trousers with a black roll neck jumper.

Agreed about the shoes.

redspottedmug · 25/02/2023 12:16

I would love it as separates but not as an outfit.
Agree you need a statement boot.

StephenDedalus · 25/02/2023 12:17

You absolutely have the figure to carry it off & sometimes it's good to wear something a little out there every once in a while. It's boring to be safe & conservative all the time

I agree though that the shoes are wrong. I agree with @sevenbyseven a block heel 70s inspired boot might work better & for casual wear I'd separate them..

laurwalsh · 25/02/2023 12:21

@NatashaDancing that is unbelievably impressive you found the source!! I can't believe it and so quick too!!

Op, I love it. But yes, you need different footwear.

StephenDedalus · 25/02/2023 12:34

Yes! Wear those boots with it if you're wearing it out at night

StephenDedalus · 25/02/2023 12:35

Life is short - have fun with your clothes! If you love them & they make you happy & you're comfortable in them then why the hell not.

laurwalsh · 25/02/2023 12:36

Thank you all for your opinions. I'll probably look back and cringe in a few years but I'm just feeling a bit adventurous right now so I'll go with it! 🥰

Click on image, download and save the image, when it's download open with "Google Photos" , click on "lens". Google then searches the image.

It's brilliant !

(Remember to delete image afterwards otherwise phone's storage is full of very random photos!)

Floisme · 25/02/2023 12:45

I think it's great. Please don't get it and then wear them separately - hold your nerve. The worst that'll happen is you will look back and have a good laugh.
