Long summer dressing gown

QueenMabs · 23/02/2023 19:22

I had a gorgeous dressing gown from next about 5 years ago. It was calf length and thin viscose. I lost the belt and chucked it (then found the belt 😭).

I can't find anything similar. I need something that is quite covered up so a good wrap over and pretty too. Most of the summer ones are shorts

I like the one hundred stars map ones but wonder what they are like and they are pretty expensive.

Some thing that packs well as I'd like to take away.

M&S have some cotton ones - I was searching for similar. Go to ‘nightwear’ and select length etc. Not sure if they have viscose - I was only looking for cotton. They had quite simple ‘waffle’ ones.

Not sure if they're your thing but the paradise robe by the Futon Company is my summer dressing gown: www.futoncompany.co.uk/shop-by-product/home-accessories/robes-loungewear-and-bags/paradise-robe-oslo-blue.html

It's a good length, has pockets, a good wrap and is lightweight. They do quite a few colours.

I have this one, it was a gift four years ago and I love it. £££ though

A colleague told me to check out Oysho (think it might be part of Zara?). The palm tree robe here is viscose.

Maybe check out Zara Home as well. No idea why they don’t put sleepwear with the rest of their clothes collections, I never think to check a homeware site for pyjamas.

I have a long cotton dressing gown from Powell Craft. On phone so can't link.
They're similar to 100 stars but much cheaper. Mine is lovely. Dark blue background with a print red edge of little Pom poms. Highly recommend.

tunainatin · 23/02/2023 21:16

I got a lovely summer dressing gown from damart - calf length with long non-flappy sleeves and decent pockets.

mistyriver · 23/02/2023 21:18

Got mine from British Boxers. It's long and good in summer and winter. Love it

betsyannegrey · 23/02/2023 21:51

The one hundred stars dressing gowns are really lovely, my dc got me one about 3 years ago for my birthday and it still looks perfect. It's so pretty it makes me smile every morning. Definitely worth treating yourself.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 23/02/2023 21:56

I think the hundred stars ones are worth it as well. They are surprisingly warm when layered over other nightwear, are great for wafting about in, in summer. The map ones are lovely - mine is from the Kew Botanics range.

DelphiniumBlue · 23/02/2023 23:05

Can I ask, when you would wear a summer dressing gown? I mean, obviously in summer, but what for?

thedevilinablackdress · 23/02/2023 23:46

Same as winter @DelphiniumBlue , for when I get up in the morning and when I get out the shower.

declutteringmymind · 23/02/2023 23:51

You need one hundred stars robes.

EmmaEmerald · 23/02/2023 23:53

I got a new, still in bag etc, One Hundred Stars one on eBay for less than half their price.

It is very thin so be sure you want that flimsy fabric before you order. If you answer the door in it, you need to have something on underneath!

I have the London map One Hundred Stars robe and feel very swish picking up the newspaper from the nature strip or putting out the bins. Grin

I like these linen ones from H&M

MintJulia · 24/02/2023 02:41

These are nice https://www.anindiansummer.co.uk/products/long-kimono-robe-floral-block-print-chinoiserie

Good quality too.

StrawHatOnTheParcelShelf · 24/02/2023 02:50

I'm going to vote for 100 Stars too. The fabric is lovely against my skin, so light and floaty, absolutely beautiful. I get sad when it's too cold to wear and I need to switch to the fluffy one.

It packs down to nothing. Mine is a reasonably dark colour and I don't think it's too sheer to wear with nothing under, unless the sun is right behind me!

mscynical · 24/02/2023 11:01

I think 100 Stars are quite expensive but admit the designs are great.
Powell Craft powellcraftboutique.com/collections/ladies-nightwear
and EssentialDesignsLDN www.etsy.com/uk/shop/EssentialDesignsLDN?ref=ks_wide&section_id=32053396
are much cheaper. Essential Designs also often send a free gift - cosmetic bag, hair band with purchases which is lovely.
I do have a 100 Stars kimono which I love but had a previous one which shredded up on a low, delicate wash - I know it says hand wash!

DelphiniumBlue · 23/02/2023 23:05

Can I ask, when you would wear a summer dressing gown? I mean, obviously in summer, but what for?

When you're getting tea, pottering round first thing in the morning, opening the door to the postman, getting the milk in, if what you sleep in isn't sufficiently decent for you to feel comfortable in.

It's something to throw over yourself for decency, and perhaps a little bit of warmth.

Hongkongsuey · 24/02/2023 11:26

Try a Japanese yukata? Pretty, cotton, often open under the arms for cooling down and has 3/4 length sleeves so they don’t trail everywhere. Etsy has a selection.

Japanya has a good selection of authentic ones.
