Best bar soap?

Tell me your favourite bar soap, that can be used to wash the whole body in the shower/bath.

Is it better to use an actual soap, or a 'beauty bar' (Dove?) I get thrush easily so I would like a gentle one if possible.

I love The Friendly Soap Company, can't afford them at the moment. They are not expensive though, just cutting back for a bit

MintJulia · 23/02/2023 18:48

Cyril's Soap Shack. Organic soap made from goats milk. Fabulously soft.

PawPrintsInMyPansies · 23/02/2023 19:08

Dove isn’t a soap. If it’s soap you want, there are some nice ones in TKMAXXor on Amazon. Also, v cheap on Amazon is Faith in Nature soap. Lots of different scents to choose from.

gawditswindy · 23/02/2023 19:12

I get mine from The Glasgow Soap Co via Etsy. They smell great and last ages. Not harsh at all.

ThePixiesTookIt · 23/02/2023 19:14

Castile soap bar, I'm very sensitive to anything slightly chemical.
Amazon Castile soap

Moonicorn · 23/02/2023 19:16

Bit basic but I love the smell of your cheap run of the mill soap like Imperial Leather. Anything with too many oils just makes me feel a bit greasy and unclean still. I have to moisturise after though because it’s a bit drying.

Brewskipa · 23/02/2023 19:19

I use a dettol one, smells lovely and lemony!

Cincinnatus · 23/02/2023 19:20

Wright’s!

BorisJohnsonsHair · 23/02/2023 19:25

If you're prone to thrush you shouldn't use soap at all, just water.

Moonicorn · 23/02/2023 19:28

I’m very prone to thrush (diabetic) and honestly just water is disastrous for me. It sounds counterintuitive but the only thing that helps is shaving it regularly and using soap to clean the outer vulva (so keep legs together but just swoosh over the area with the soap bar). Water only on the inner vulva and labia of course, using the shower head. But letting it turn into a sweaty jungle makes the thrush much worse! Just me??

ProperVexed · 23/02/2023 19:44

L' Occitan's and Nesti Dante are lovely. Lots of smells to choose from.
I'm using a Liz Earle one at the moment which is really lovely. Very frothy!

Gloriousgardener11 · 23/02/2023 19:48

The pink Dove soap is divine also Palmolive is lovely and creamy and stays solid unlike most soaps that go all mushy and disintegrate after a while.

AlrightJulia · 23/02/2023 19:51

It's already been mentioned on here but the 4 pack of lemon soap from tesco is excellent. I used to use the lovely nesti dante ones but they started to irritate my psoriasis. So now i use tesco and my skin is fine. Cleans well, smells good and very cheap!

Jewelanemone · 23/02/2023 19:53

Have a look at The Sea Shed. Big beautiful gorgeous bars of soap. I buy them when they're on offer. I love them.

greenacrylicpaint · 23/02/2023 19:58

I love to get bars of italian or french olive soap at the market. but imperial is quite nice as well.

even an expesive bar is economical as it lasts so long.

greenacrylicpaint · 23/02/2023 20:01

oh, and I keep bars in my knicker drawer until I need it. the older the bar the less mushy it gets.

Maxifly · 23/02/2023 20:05

This is very old fashioned, but I love the smell of coal tar soap. I have sensitive skin and many soaps make me dry and itchy, ct doesn't.

Pocketfullofdogtreats · 23/02/2023 20:11

I'd forgotten about Castile. Used to love that.
I love Lush's citrus one. They cut a slice from a big block. It smells amazing and is semi see-through.

motherofkevinnotperry · 23/02/2023 20:14

Pears, blue is best and imperial leather. They both smell really clean and foam well.

FictionalCharacter · 23/02/2023 20:36

This goat milk soap https://thelittlegoatsoapcompany.co.uk/product-category/goat-milk-soap/page/2/ Really good for sensitive skin. The sandalwood and patchouli one is lovely.
Or pure olive oil soap - I stocked up on hol in Greece but you can get it from health food shops sometimes.
I also had some aloe vera soap from Tenerife that was lovely. Real aloe vera, not cheap nasty soap with a tiny bit of aloe vera in it.

HorribleHisTories15 · 23/02/2023 20:44

Where do you get your detail soap @Brewskipa ? Is it for the body/ hands or for clothes?

Again is fairy a hand and body soap @postwarbulge ? Where do you get it from please?

HorribleHisTories15 · 23/02/2023 20:44

*dettol (autocorrect) @Brewskipa

Danielle2500 · 23/02/2023 20:45

Another vote for goats milk soaps, they are lovely and make my normally dry skin so soft. I usually order from tildastribe.co.uk or from
her Etsy shop.

Katr673 · 23/02/2023 20:54

Another vote for pears
