Navy dress for wedding

I'm going to a wedding soon and I wanted to wear a navy dress, but my friend reckons navy is out for our age group (35). I've seen a couple with AX Paris I like but I honestly don't know whether to now steer clear. I'm tall, size 14 and chubby hourglass.

I’m 37 and I love navy for a wedding! One of the colours that suits me best! Don’t really care if it’s “in” or not.

Your friend assigns colours based on age?! That's ridiculous!

If navy suits your colouring and the dress is lovely it'll look 10x better than one in a random colour 35 year olds are "allowed" to wear.

I'm confused on what age navy is for I've worn it through out 20s, 30s and now 40s it's a classic colour?

I think the cut of the first dress means it would probably only look good if you had a seamstress fit the bodice to your body.

Second is my favourite choice too! And I don't want to sound ridiculous but it goes with my partners suit. I don't want to clash... Which is possible due to the suit pattern.

Would gold jewellery and nude shoes go?

Yep, second dress is lovely, and with nude shoes and gold jewellery sounds perfect to me

I’m the same age and wearing navy to a wedding soon. The second dress is lovely. Nude is nice with navy but I’m wearing mine with bright pink shoes and coat.

Adding a colour such as pink would clash with the suit my partner is wearing. But pink with navy would look amazing!

Well I would say navy is great for a wedding, because I wore one! I teamed with fuschia pink accessories and navy shoes, I did have pink shoes but it was too much. The only jewellery I wore was my much loved Longines watch that comes out for fair days and holidays, and tiny faux diamond ear studs. I felt very comfortable and confident in it, which is not a usual thing for me as I am not a dressy up person at all!

I love navy and think it really suits me. I wore a navy dress to an awards ceremony recently and got lots of compliments.

Not sure of her age, but this lady was a guest at Jerry Hall and Rupert Murdoch's wedding. She looks fantastic.

A while ago a much cheaper high street version of that dress appeared on several threads here to great approval

I love navy , I;d put navy+fuschia if it was something dressy

Navy and black if frowned upon but in that photo the lady has teamed her dress with black shoes ,bag and jacket and it looks very nice .(Google tells me she's Sarah Murdoch , 50yo)
