Knee high boots

Saw some boots very like these (brand new) in a charity shop today.

I haven't worn knee high boots for ages as I felt they were considered dated but I've also just bought a lovelyWhistles jumper dress and wondered if they would go together.

I didn't buy them but am wondering if I should go back. What are your thoughts on knee high boots

Hopeful bump?

Mm I like knee high boots as long as they’re flat and over the knee. Other than that, it’s a no from me. Just looks like you’re going horse riding or like you’re a bimbo if they’ve got high heels. And also depends with what outfit you wear them I guess.

BrennieGirl · 17/02/2023 20:02

I wear knee high boots all the time. And given the amount of them in the shops, I wouldn’t say they are dated at all.

MillicentTrilbyHiggins · 17/02/2023 20:03

I love my knee highs. They can prise them off my cold dead legs.

I'm not stylish though I wear what I like.

TheDead · 17/02/2023 20:50

I like knee high boots though I don't actually have any at the moment

I've been admiring a pair on the jigsaw website & contemplating them.

I have to day that I'm not mad about the ones in your link, sorry. It's the shape & overall style. Long boots are in again but the style is different now..

I saw a woman in the most fabulous long, flat boots under wide leg cropped trousers & a long orange wool coat in town yesterday & she was looking 👌

TheDead · 17/02/2023 20:54

I quite like these but the orange coat ladies were even nicer

Buy them

I went back to my knee boots a couple of years ago although admittedly I don't wear skirts or dresses very often.

superplumb · 18/02/2023 09:11

Buy them I have a few pairs including with heels and overknee. Love them
Not dated imo as most shops still sell them

woodhill · 18/02/2023 09:12

I've worn my older ones a couple of times this year, they are functional and ankle boots don't keep my legs warm

Takentomybed · 18/02/2023 09:16

I got some Dune lace up ones off vinted a couple of months ago which I wear with my jumper dress. And with a couple of shirt dresses I got. I love them

LimeCheesecake · 18/02/2023 09:16

I love knee high boots, but then I am short, and dresses / skirts that are that midi length that end below the knee/mid calf, combined with ankle boots, create a very shortening look on my legs (two lines across the lower leg). Knee/long boots that end under the skirt hem can create a lengthening look to otherwise stumpy legs.

so given the length of the dress you’ve linked, unless you are v tall, the boots would disappear under the dress and look good.

LimeCheesecake · 18/02/2023 09:18

Re being dated - last year and the year before they were in short supply, but seem to be everywhere this year. Don’t wear with skinny jeans, but do look nice with dresses/skirts.

Bimbo? God what an awful misogynistic term to use!

Interesting

Everything is so expensive this year so I am wearing my classic suede ones

Suzi888 · 18/02/2023 09:33

Wear mine all the time because they are warm and comfortable, I can walk miles in them, but also dress them up with a dress/tunic and leggings.

gogohmm · 18/02/2023 09:35

I wear knee highs with leggings and dresses most the winter for work, very practical, who cares what people who don't have to work a proper job say what is in fashion

declutteringmymind · 18/02/2023 09:36

Buy them.

LimeCheesecake · 18/02/2023 09:38

Oh only thing to add - if you aren’t going to wear with jeans, make sure they are tight on your leg round the top to avoid the wellies look.

JackGrealishsLegs · 18/02/2023 10:04

The “wellies look” is what’s in now! (Leather boots that are looser on the calf, in stiff leather - not actual welly boots)

This is what I love too, I have heeled leather knee highs (not skin tight boots) and wear them with midi length skirts and dresses to make me look a bit taller.

KirstenBlest · 18/02/2023 10:16

One good thing about knee length boots is that whatever you are wearing, a big coat and knee length boots will make you look presentable.

Notcontent · 18/02/2023 10:17

I think knee high boots are a staple that are never really dated, but it does depend on how you wear them.

Cherryana · 18/02/2023 10:27

Dated? I have only heard that on mumsnet.
Just like skinny jeans.

JaceLancs · 18/02/2023 12:43

Not dated at all - I have a few different styles which I wear mainly with sweater dresses but also with leggings and long line jumpers
