Accessories for this dress

Any thoughts on accessories for this dress. Wearing to a wedding in July. My first thought was blue shoes/bag and blue pendant necklace. All of which I've got but, is it overkill on the blue?

That is a gorgeous print. I think that it would depend on the shade of blue. I think a nice dark bright blue would look nice.

elm26 · 14/02/2023 19:20

Beautiful dress.

I would go with silver or nude accessories personally.

sarahh96 · 14/02/2023 19:23

Thanks. The blue of the dress is quite a bit brighter than the picture. I'm worried about trying to match that blue but, somehow, navy looks too heavy with it. Alternative colour I suppose would be a blush pink? I'm useless at this stuff, that's why I live in jeans.

It’s a lovely dress! I would go with pink for accessories to make the colours pop. I normally find a contrast colour works better if you can’t find the exact colour match

purplemunkey · 14/02/2023 20:21

I think gold would go nicely. Something simple like these?

I wouldn't do all the accessories in the same colour.

Nude/blush pink/white is one way to go. You could also do bright or burnt orange or yellow with that dress if you wanted a more vibrant look.

Little straw pillbox hat and cream crocheted gloves? Go for 1940s glamour. French pleat hair and fabulous lipstick.

Catsonskis · 14/02/2023 20:27

Love that dress! I honestly would keep to delicate simple silver jewellery. Please don’t do colour pop!!!

MissyB1 · 14/02/2023 20:32

Definitely not more blue. I would probably go for silver or a really bright pink.

MokaEfti · 14/02/2023 20:33

White or cream (depending whether the dress is blue/white or blue/cream IRL

Kranke · 14/02/2023 20:42

No, don’t do a different colour pop. The print is beautiful and that’s the focus. A different colour would distract. What are the shoes like? Blue sounds good and could even take navy. I’d say an open toe rope wedge singback. If the pendant is subtle, I’d do that, or a very fine string of pearls (small one strand, finishing between your neck and the neckline). What sort of bag? If you’re carrying everything in it, then don’t worry as it won’t be on your arm the whole time and you can stash it somewhere.

Kranke · 14/02/2023 20:46

Also I wouldn’t go cream/white unless it’s a good tone match for the dress. I don’t think silver or gold works here either. If you did want a different colour (and only do this for shoes, or bag, or jewellery- not all), then coral or a light orange would look nice. But match the tonal colour of the blue, or slightly lighter.

touterustome · 14/02/2023 20:50

Summer heels can often be lovely neutrals with textures like cork, raffia, wood etc - that would be lovely with it. Bags ditto. Otherwise blush pink nude or a very subtle light metallic.

NancyJoan · 14/02/2023 21:06

Coral/orange shoes and a basket bag. Maybe some white resin jewellery.

sarahh96 · 14/02/2023 21:08

Thanks all, that's given me some ideas. I have got navy peeptoe wedges and have the bag to match already. Maybe the blue pendant would be a step to far though, so silver for jewellery I think.
I'm loving the idea of a colour pop but I'm not sure I could carry it off, plus, I'd have to go and buy something.

Blue shoes & White bag or vice versa.
Jewellery should be silver or gold not too much colour

I think this all sounds good. I wouldn’t go for silver, but if you wanted a subtle colour pop, this would be nice:

Lovely dress - is it Joe Brown?

HarryBlaster · 14/02/2023 23:06

Dangly, pretty silver earrings. Maybe some wedding appropriate pretty bangles. Not sure the dress pattern needs a necklace as well. Definitely some colourful nails, navy clutch. Sparkly silver sandals/peep toe shoes.

Railwayroad · 14/02/2023 23:09

Ooh nice dress. Where from?

I wear flat chunky white sandals but I’m quite unconventional in never wearing heels.

Whataretheodds · 14/02/2023 23:54

You could probably find something to pop in a charity shop/second hand

Whataretheodds · 14/02/2023 23:54

Or borrow

sarahh96 · 15/02/2023 10:52

@CassTheFox yes it is, just come in. Really nice (and forgiving!) 😀

I’d avoid blue and either go for a neutral - raffia/straw, gold/silver metallic or contrasting (pink or (my preference) coral)). It’s a lovely dress.

jitteryquick · 15/02/2023 11:44

If it was me I'd go for yellow shoes and yellow nails but I do love a bright colour pop!
