Anyone love this brand? Or not? I love some of the boots and bags, they are £££ though. I dislike their "customer of the month" competition, as you have to already have bought something to be able to enter 🤣

Also, they seem to be turning into a bit of a "uniform" for impractical country style.

Disclaimer- I'm neither stylish nor blessed with the money to buy lots from them. Neither do I fit the tweed skirt/white jeans, slim young thing look (annoyingly)

I had some F&F boots. They barely lasted one walk around a NT property. Tbh I cringe that I even wore them (last Spring!)

I stopped following them on Insta as the price doesn't match the quality. Not even a little bit.

Their following was very cult like and their top "gifted" influencers were reposting photos every 6 weeks or so it wasn't even new content.

I think that F&F's target audience is perhaps aged 17ish and certainly lacking some self awareness. 🤔 bless them!

There is a thread going on at the moment all about the death of the countryside and how the Lake District is now just one giant Instagram selfie opportunity. I think F&F are the aspirational clothes of those people.
It’s young, chavvy, wanna-be rich, cringe-making. My SIL adores it. She lives in a tiny new build on a housing estate, but drives round in a 15 year old Mercedes with a feather in her trilby and her F&F tassels swinging proudly. It’s funny and embarrassing in equal measure. No one who actually has money or spends time outdoors would be seen dead in it.

🤣 God this made me laugh!

WildFlowerBees · 09/03/2023 11:29

I have both F&F and PC, PC boots are far better and better made.

Level7wannabee · 09/03/2023 11:34

Yes to PC!

I love good quality and I'm happy to pay for it. F&F is not quality.

Level7wannabee · 09/03/2023 11:35

Our local country store stopped stocking F&F because of the returns!

I reckon they have someone watching this post, I've had my gold card revoked! Blush

How could they know who you are from this thread, though?

And how did they revoke it — did someone actively contact you to do that?

I’m not being horrible btw, genuinely curious. I don’t buy F&F but the thread is weirdly fascinating!

orangepoang · 10/03/2023 19:03

I have not seen that many wearing IRL but my gawd, it's all over instagram!

It's very "country aristo wannabe" looking to me. I don't dislike it all, some things look very timeless!

However, it can look a bit "costume" and contrived if not done well - some photos of ladies wearing it pop up on my inst explore and i don't like the way they've styled things.

VaccineSticker · 12/03/2023 10:17

I tried a pair of these boots the other day and they really dug into the back of my knees when I sat down in them. They were far too high. I didn’t have any issues with putting them on and taking them off with narrow fit however, I am around or just above average for my height and I’m shocked with the poor fit for the price tag. The length of the boot should be way shorter. Do people just put up with the pain just for the label? The lady suggested to add a heel inside the shoe to make leg longer. 🙄

thenightsky · 12/03/2023 15:44

@VaccineSticker

I bought them because they were proper knee height on me (36in inside leg). The only boots I've ever found that don't end on my calves, even when they are called 'knee high'.

TheClash2023 · 12/03/2023 17:19

I've worn them for years. I've got some with heels and some flat ones. Find them really comfortable. I wear them with jeans and jumpers. The photos on instagram make me laugh.

Me too - I hate knee high boots that end several inches down the calf. It’s the reason I bought mine; they fit me beautifully.

WildFlowerBees · 12/03/2023 19:26

I cannot get my head around these people on the F&F club page going to such lengths to squeeze themselves into their boots, or that Fairfax themselves have a video on how to put a bag over your foot put on your boot to make the zip go up.

For the price they are they should bloody fit! My explorers are so comfortable but after a year of wear the material in the heel ripped F&F say it's wear and tear. I won't be buying another pair.

LemonJuiceFromConcentrate · 12/03/2023 21:06

It'll be a cold day in hell before I buy boots that only go on if I wear poo bags on my feet

PersonaNonGarter · 12/03/2023 23:18

Fairfax and Penelope Chilvers are made in the same factory, just to those saying about quality. But PC are much nicer and priced a little bit better.

Howdya · 13/03/2023 06:59

Being made in the same factory is no guarantee of anything really. Clients pay for differing grades of leather and construction.

MsAdoraBelleDearheartVonLipwig · 13/03/2023 16:53

I’ve heard good things about the Valverde boots from Spain. Apparently they’re identical to the F&F explorers but half the price.

YouOKHun · 13/03/2023 22:51

@MsAdoraBelleDearheartVonLipwig yes I have bought a few pairs from Valverde over the years and they’ve been great. Their prices were a fraction of Pc and F&F but their prices have gone up quite a bit which is no doubt the Brexit effect. Still reasonable for the quality though.

MsAdoraBelleDearheartVonLipwig · 25/03/2023 12:53

@YouOKHun well I bit the bullet and ordered a pair of the Valverde. Only took a week to come from Spain. Happy to say they’re absolutely lovely! Fit like a glove and bizarrely they do look exactly like the F&F explorers. They’re obviously made in the same place. They’re slightly more tan in colour but I like them. Worn them a couple of times for dog walks and they’re sooo comfortable.

Much cheaper than F&F but did have to pay 20% import tax. Still worked out cheaper though.

Thanks for the advice!

YouOKHun · 25/03/2023 17:15

@MsAdoraBelleDearheartVonLipwig glad you’re pleased!
