Anyone love this brand? Or not? I love some of the boots and bags, they are £££ though. I dislike their "customer of the month" competition, as you have to already have bought something to be able to enter 🤣

Also, they seem to be turning into a bit of a "uniform" for impractical country style.

Disclaimer- I'm neither stylish nor blessed with the money to buy lots from them. Neither do I fit the tweed skirt/white jeans, slim young thing look (annoyingly)

@thenightsky I have a full size BNIB navy/grey Windsor for sale on the fairfax selling pages if that’s any use? Obviously won’t post a link here but PM me if it might be of interest 🙂

I think I saw that one. Its a bit pricey for me at the moment though Sad

ItsCalledAConversation · 01/03/2023 10:54

There is a thread going on at the moment all about the death of the countryside and how the Lake District is now just one giant Instagram selfie opportunity. I think F&F are the aspirational clothes of those people.
It’s young, chavvy, wanna-be rich, cringe-making. My SIL adores it. She lives in a tiny new build on a housing estate, but drives round in a 15 year old Mercedes with a feather in her trilby and her F&F tassels swinging proudly. It’s funny and embarrassing in equal measure. No one who actually has money or spends time outdoors would be seen dead in it.

I'm not sure about that. It's proudly worn at eventing horse trot ups - noone richer and more outdoorsy!

twistyizzy · 01/03/2023 10:58

@ItsCalledAConversation that's definitely not true, go to any P2P/game fair/County show/major horse trials and you will see a sea of F+F/Holland and Cooper etc.
FYI horsey people don't have money exactly because they have horses 🤣

Totally not expecting to get that price so happy to take offers - people try to knock you down massively with online sales so I pitched high to allow negotiation!

Farmersweeklyreader · 01/03/2023 13:27

I would be frowned upon as trying too hard if I rocked up at the mart/agricultural show/anything remotely to do with work with a pair of f & f on.
I don’t know anyone who wears it (including horsey people)
Ariat boots are acceptable though along with le chameau or aigle wellies.
I think ladies who actually work or live in the countryside dress more understated, it’s not about the labels, it’s about functionality.

There's a very boring dress code in the countryside as you say. Expensive wellies and tweeds/fleeces. Brassy hair, fleece hairbands and red skin. It's just as much of a uniform as F and F.

LoveLabradors · 01/03/2023 15:17

@ItsCalledAConversation - please could you post a link to the thread about death of the countryside - would like to read it thanks 😊

I shoot, ride and work my dogs. It is all very much about labels ie Schoffel/Le Chameau/Aigle/Ridgeline etc including F+F although that's more some of the horsey people but for days out rather than at the yard. All highly functional labels but definitely a uniform consisting of those brands.

I would disagree, clearly some moneyed outdoor people do wear it. I know of three off the top of my head:

  • a lady with a title, horses, riding, estate, land etc. wears FF boots on the school run
  • lady who has married a landed farmer. Big Victorian house, stacks of cash. Horses, riding, boarding school. Often seen in FF boots when not in wellies.
  • country vet who rides and whose parents own a farm. Wears FF boots and coat on some smarter occasions.
MsAdoraBelleDearheartVonLipwig · 01/03/2023 22:13

Zara Tindell has been known to wear it too.

Bemyclementine · 02/03/2023 15:37

@DogInATent I thought that about the history aspect, not to be too closely studied!

I think it's a bit naff now with the surge in popularity. One to be avoided. I'm not a fan of distinctive labels like this.

AlaskaThunderfuckHiiiiiiiii · 02/03/2023 16:14

I have saved and saved and bought my first pair of Regina’s recently, went to the store and was properly fitted, I really liked the store experience; private room, champagne while you try on etc. I already own boudicas I’ve bought in sale and I live in those, do alot of walking and these have been brilliant. I don’t go crazy and buy everything just the pieces I actually like

Purplecatshopaholic · 02/03/2023 16:25

I think the Facebook pages are hilariously wanky - just loads of folk up each others arses posing. Very matchy-matchy and twee generally. I have a pair of Reginas that I do like and they are comfy, and a handbag, but the brand as a whole is overpriced I think. I haven’t bought anything from there in years.

GettingStuffed · 02/03/2023 16:45

I wonder how you get them on with calves not much wider than ankles

There are different width fittings available.

Justonedayatatime11 · 02/03/2023 20:39

@GettingStuffed they recommend heating them with a hairdryer to get them to give Hmm and poo bags on your feet to make the boots slide on easier. Exactly what you expect when you spend £400 on a pair of boots!

Unicornsaregreat · 02/03/2023 20:58

@Justonedayatatime11 So if after heating the boots with a hairdryer & forcing yourself into them with poo bags on your feet, they turn out not to be very comfortable (!) do you get a refund???

Justonedayatatime11 · 02/03/2023 22:29

@Unicornsaregreat only if you manage to keep them looking unworn!

RestyBFace · 09/03/2023 09:19

twistyizzy · 01/03/2023 10:06

@Justonedayatatime11 the influencers for F+F are really grating on me, instead of giving so many people free stuff why don't they focus on the quality of design and production?
I was thinking of buying a pair of Boudicas but am opting for PC inclement ankle boots as the quality and design look so much better. I've also left all the F+F groups.

I see a few Boudiccas appearing on eBay with the sole separating from the upper, so I’m not sure how hard-wearing they’d be when put to serious use. I do, however, have some old Dubarrys that just won’t die (yes, another aspirational country brand, soz) so can recommend them.

Fairfax did it again today: “Winner announced Wednesday.” Won’t someone tell them it’s “ON Wednesday?”

/gives up will to live.

Justonedayatatime11 · 09/03/2023 11:17

@twistyizzy there is. All meant to be very hush hush but oh well! I got mine end of last year
