What have you bought recently that was worth every penny?

For me a Frandsen puffer coat that kept me warm in the very cold weather

Bimba Y Lola jumper in a charity shop that I have had so many people comment on and asking who made it.

Silk blouse by Whistles from a charity shop. Looks chic and dries quick.

@massivesalads now I really want those jeans and they've sold out 😩 are they jeans they always have in do you know?

There seem to be quite a few available on the website depending on what colour you want? Anyone know if the Marine style comes up quite short?

Justleaveitblankthen · 01/02/2023 22:54

This - finally - is the perfect colour for my shade of green eyes! A complete steal too, going to order back up 😎

Bourjois Paris Little Round Pot Eyeshadow - 1.7g |14-Berry Berry Well amzn.eu/d/9GnJ9Z3

The Marine are short. I’m relatively short-legged and the size 10 comes to the top of my shoe just at my ankle probably. The size 12 are I’d say an inch longer. I wear them with flats. In M&S I wear their trousers in medium length, for reference.

RaininginDarling · 01/02/2023 22:57

In the Jan sales, I bought the pink Boden ruffle skirt. It is a delight to wear with a jumper and DMs.

Buut my heart was taken by the yellow version, which was sold out. Luckily, some other fan of the ruffle decided to send theirs back, and after a bit of persistent checking of the Boden website, I now have two fabulous ruffle skirts. The yellow is the perfect golden mustard shade.

They are pure joy.

This Arket jumper, which over the last few years I have bought in almost all the colours (some via Depop). I most recently got the green one and it is so insanely cheerful. The fit is just perfect for me and I love them all so much.

Also some Levi’s 90s 501 jeans, and Adidas Samba trainers.

This coat arrived today (in rust) and I’m really pleased with it, I had a no spend January so have been waiting to buy it for a month and it’s extra satisfying.

www.joules.com/Offers/Black-Friday/Rust/Belway/Onion-Quilt-Coat?id=219434|RUST

@Picklewicklepickle how warm is it? I could do with a mid-weight jacket for everyday wear.

I bought ( well it was bought for me ) a pre-loved immaculate Dior book tote medium size. Oh my goodness me I adore it - it was for my 51st birthday yesterday but only arrived today.

I also got an amazing alpaca, mohair, wool and cashmere M and S autograph coat brand new with tags and its exquisite, it's giving me real Max Mara vibes and it's nearly down to my ankles 😁

The bag was an absolute bargain ( not a lot more than the sheepskin coat a pp bought upthread).

I've been very spoilt for my birthday.

EKGEMS · 02/02/2023 01:42

Seven for all mankind tummyless skinny jeans soft and flattering with lycra

Wagsandclaws · 02/02/2023 02:20

I meant to say the m and s coat was brand new with tags from eBay. Probably a quarter of the price it was Smile

Yes I would say it’s a medium coat, it’s very lightweight but warmer than you might think looking at it. Not a proper winter coat but it’s very oversized so you could layer it up. I’m pleased with it just hoping I’m not giving off Delboy vibes!

Lentilweaver · 02/02/2023 11:57

This Superdry bomber for myself after I bought the same for DD last month in black. Absolute bargain, and perfect light weight for spring .www.superdry.com/details/205323/fuji-bomber-jacket-green

I am also very pleased with my John Lewis straight jeans bought for a tenner. Wasn't expecting much but they are really comfy and flattering.

LookItsMeAgain · 02/02/2023 13:28

@Stoechas - I love your description of how a £3 cream blusher can work wonders. Do you write for a living?

LookItsMeAgain · 02/02/2023 13:50

@Cocoandcleo - my son wanted a pair of DM's so he bought them and worked out if you can, wear two pairs of socks while breaking them in. It'll take a few weeks of wear but you shouldn't end up with blisters.

Why do we buy DM's knowing that they will cripple our feet whenever we wear them? We wouldn't buy anything else that causes us so much pain when we wear them, right?

Laquila · 02/02/2023 14:28

I love this thread! I bought a forest green cashmere jumper from John Lewis in the sale and I love it - the cour is great on me and it's inspiring me to buy more green stuff. Also an excellent superfine Rimmel eyebrow pencil.

Love the berry Bourjois eyeshadow that someone linked to upthread - I have green eyes and that colour would never have occured to me, but I've bookmarked it!

ghostyslovesheets · 02/02/2023 15:56

this marmite bag - www.kurtgeiger.com/women/accessories/bags/shoulder/xxl-kensington-drench-gold-leather-kurt-geiger-london-7386061109

It's rather bling but I love it and it fits me laptop and work stuff

and these www.schuh.co.uk/kids/girls-junior-dr-martens-2976-leonore-black-boots/8324017080/ to give my other pair a rest!

Can you buy bourjois in superdrug ? I have green eyes but also dark shadows under them 😐so thought of this type of colour before but wondered if I could get away with it

CointreauVersial · 02/02/2023 18:10

@lovescats3 Bourjois is available in Superdrug, but only in the larger stores. It left the UK for a while, but now it's back (DH works for them <taps nose>).

GettingStuffed · 02/02/2023 18:35

I bought this for my DMiL's funeral. It's less red in real life. It's a don't wear black funeral www.brakeburn.com/products/mixed-berry-floral-midaxi-dress-aw22?variant=40079876423741

minipie · 02/02/2023 19:00

Watching. Thanks for the wide leg jean recommendations - just what I’m after and they seem short enough for once!

I’m quite pleased with a tomato red cashmere jumper from Pure in the sale. I have sent a lot of things back recently though!

Ikeameatballs · 02/02/2023 20:18

A jacket from hush that was £125 new on the website and I paid £15 brand new with tags from Vinted.

www.trouva.com/products/numph-dorsey-cloud-dancer-pullover This lovely spring knit.

These mom jeans www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-anyday-hoxton-mom-jeans/light-wash/p5798013

Total full price £220, I paid £57.

Make-up Max Factor pan stick, bought in desperation to cover a nasty spot and is perfect for hiding blemishes. Not drying but long lasting. I think I paid £7.

MistyRock · 03/02/2023 07:38

Max Factor pan stick is excellent for covering up areas which need a little extra coverage, and for the price so much better than a tiny concealer stick etc.

Someaddedsugar · 03/02/2023 08:09

@twistyizzy I'm blaming your influence - I've just ordered the jaguar sandals after looking at the shoes you've bought 😂
