@alltheevennumbers Ds is the same. However now that he's not living at home anymore I do manage to keep most things for myself, and he did have a tendency to bathe in whatever he was wearing!

SOTD is Clarins Eau Dynamisante. This is such a classic and the first perfume that I ever wore regularly. I adore the whole line, but Dynamisante catapults me straight back to the late 90s, living in a variety of grotty flatshares in north London, first 'proper' job, first big love, insane social life, having a whale of a time basically. Quarter of a century later and life is very (good) different now, but I still love the way this completely captures that sense of freedom, hedonism and possibility.

MissBattleaxe · 20/04/2023 08:56

@TakeYourHatOffBoy What a lovely post! I lived in London in the 90s and it really rang a bell. I wore Chanel Cristalle and it holds a similar set of memories for me. Eau Dynamisante is a superb perfume.

Pigeon31 · 20/04/2023 08:57

SOTD: aromatics elixir

I think Tokyo is my fave of the gallivant ones so far, but every time I wear aromatics elixir I remember how much I like it ;)

Pigeon31 · 20/04/2023 08:59

Also I have fond memories of living in flatshares in north london in the 90s - going to Feet First at the Camden Palace on Tuesday nights and still getting in for work at 8 the next morning :) I was mostly wearing Angel.

Chevyimpala67 · 20/04/2023 10:44

Your son has very good taste @Chevyimpala67 Grin

TakeYourHatOffBoy · 20/04/2023 11:13

@MissBattleaxeI would've thought you were terribly classy and grown-up in your Cristalle 😍

@Pigeon31 ahhh, good times! I lived in Chalk Farm for a good while - Feet First, watching my boyfriend's band at the Barfly/Monarch/Enterprise. Drinking in the Steele's if we were feeling posh... My ds now hangs out in Koko and the Hawley Arms and I love to see him cringe when I start to reminisce about 'the old days'!

FestivelyScent · 20/04/2023 23:38

@alltheevennumbers @Chevyimpala67 You are watching the active development of future fragrance addicts! Grin I think my first foray into scent must have been around age thirteen - I have been obsessed ever since. Blush

SOTD yesterday was Shalimar, for a much needed visit to the hairdressers.

SOTN is Ambre Orient, a very welcome 'aaahhh' moment after a busy couple of days.

No idea when I got into perfumes. It started off with body mists from The Body Shop, then my mother said I should start getting into more mature scents.
Today I wore Roses de Chloé which is one of my oldest bottles. It seems to be discontinued in a lot of stores but I found it on the Debenhams website.

IrisApfelRocks · 21/04/2023 07:28

SOTD is Nishane Ani

TakeYourHatOffBoy · 21/04/2023 08:44

SOTD is Goutal Heure Exquise. Lovely soft fluffy clouds of powdery iris, so grown-up, so sophisticated, so calming.

Need it as I am feeling frankly done in today. Row with DH last night which meant he left for work this morning without even saying goodbye 😡 (and it was his fault!) and another bombshell has dropped at work which means my job is at risk AGAIN just as we were starting to feel a bit more optimistic 😡 .

(Apologies if that's all rather personal TMI but I. Am. So. Over. It. All and have no one to rant to.)

AprilLady · 21/04/2023 09:48

@TakeYourHatOffBoy rant away - sorry you’re having a hard time.

SOTD FM Une Rose.

Cantonet · 21/04/2023 10:14

Snap @AprilLady. Une Rose too.
A stinker of a day here, with really heavy rain matching my mood. I'm still ill two weeks on & wheezing & coughing away.
Hope your days get better here on in.

I'm sorry x and I hear you
Dhs job at risk too:(
Yet more hospital appointments for me
All feels a bit bleak :(
@FestivelyScent I've worn perfume everyday since I was about 9 :)

I'm in a scent rut. I'm wearing avon attraction most days atm

Deathraystare · 21/04/2023 15:29

@TakeYourHatOffBoy

Indeed a lovely post! I have the Clarins scent and always use it in the summer. I love the shower gel too!

SOTD: Samsara again as it is in my work bag. I have a number of sample sets but so far only a few perfumes are ok. The rest are really weird! I will have to try them again. I am all for different but they must at least smell nice!

FestivelyScent · 21/04/2023 22:59

Sorry to hear your having a tough time atm @TakeYourHatOffBoy @Cantonet @Chevyimpala67

I'm joining the ranks of those feeling down. I think I'm just about to fail another migraine preventer, and I'm worried the Drs are running out of options. I am so fed up with daily headaches, debilitating brain fog and horrible side effects.

Wishing us all a better, brighter tomorrow.

SOTN is No19. I too am in a scent rut, and seem to be wearing the same three things on constant rotation. I want to order some cheerful spring-y samples, but can't summon the mental energy. 🌷

Flowers to all of you feeling unwell or having a tough time.

Me too, actually, work is a bit shit at the moment for various reasons.

Sending a virtual spritz of something lovely over us all.

IrisApfelRocks · 22/04/2023 11:32

SOTD is Molecule 1

Pigeon31 · 22/04/2023 11:47

SOTD: gallivant gdansk -- not sure what I was expecting but this is stunning, a lovely smokey amber with a touch of sweetness. Not maybe what I'd normally pick this time of year but I do love it.

Chevyimpala67 · 22/04/2023 13:38

My first outing for avon little black dress 👗
This is so underrated imo by the great Rodrigo flores roux

JFDIYOLO · 22/04/2023 17:30

After being inundated with adverts for the very glamourous Potion perfume set I decided to buy the discovery sample set.

The oud perfume is very very very strong indeed.

I had not encountered oud before - I'd have to say it's interesting. But it's overpowering - and at about 5:00 this evening I have got something of a headache ...

TakeYourHatOffBoy · 22/04/2023 17:57

Oud can definitely be a tricky note, @JFDIYOLO! I don't think I know Potion, tell us more.

SOTD is Kenzo L'Elephant, a cute mini I picked up from an antiques fair today. I've bought quite a few odds and ends from this seller before (including a fabulous bottle of vintage Miss Dior a couple of years ago).

I've never tried this but it's really interesting. Very spicy, with cloves, cardamom and liquorice but balanced out and softened by mango, heliotrope and vanilla. Could easily be a headache-inducer but somehow works. To me it has similarities to both Dune (both are by Ropion and despite the juicy mango there is that parched desert-dryness from the spice) and Traversee du Bosphore (exotic, dusty, yet mildly lactonic sweetness).

AprilLady · 22/04/2023 18:05

I have had a fairly bad cold all week, and can barely smell anything. So sadly, no SOTD.

I’ve been moderately constructive though, and done a mini sort through my perfumes, putting a few on eBay that I don’t really wear much, if at all, as well as a couple I’ve finally admitted to myself were blind-buy mistakes.

@TakeYourHatOffBoy Kenzo L’Elephant does sound interesting.
