Side stones engagement ring

Just looking for opinions.
looking at engagement rings and have decided I want a trilogy ring (lab created).
Now i don’t know whether to go with side stones or not?
im conflicted as I love the bling of the side stones but then think the simplicity without works well and could distract from the main stones?
are there any pros and cons to side stones vs no stones?

Just that really
thank you x

Without

CouldOfIsntRight · 29/01/2023 14:28

I prefer without. It looks overly fussy with and, as you say, it detracts from the main stones.

Without. I think with will date badly. But aside from that without just looks classier imo.

Northlights22 · 29/01/2023 14:35

Thanks for the feedback
I agree with what you’re all saying
I think the compromise if I want more bling is to have a diamond wedding band

I think without is classier, I love single stone rings. I have a lab diamond engagement ring and love it

Cincinnatus · 29/01/2023 15:43

Without. Then you could get an eternity ring with diamonds as a wedding band for extra bling?

Franticbutterfly · 29/01/2023 16:40

Without. Left one looks tacky.

safeplanet · 29/01/2023 16:47

I have a green emerald with side stones but they are trapezium (?) shape but I looked at a diamond version in the same shape. The band & setting is small & plain which I think makes a big difference.

This is a beautiful ring! I think side stones look lovely especially if they’re quite a bit smaller to let the main stone really stand out. Classic solitaire rings are a bit done to death for me in all honesty and I think it’s niche to have something a bit different.

I also think diamond bands including wedding rings detract from the main stone and can actually make it look smaller, better for your fiancé to spend the money on the best centre stone he can afford!

Crucible · 29/01/2023 16:54

With! But mine are pear shaped (pendeloques) which make the ring look like an eye. It's beautiful. I designed it and had it made and it's beautiful.

Viviennemary · 29/01/2023 16:58

I used to prefer without sidestones but now i have seen a few people who have rings with i think thry are very attractive too.

Shinytaps · 29/01/2023 17:01

I think the side stones will date it. I would get a wedding band with diamonds in and that will give the extra bling factor you're looking for!

Outfor150 · 29/01/2023 17:03

Without.

pocketvenuss · 29/01/2023 17:45

By side stones are you referring to the two smaller stones or the tiny small stones along the actual ring

Northlights22 · 29/01/2023 17:48

Surprised by people saying side stones are tacky.
they are both beautiful rings regardless.
im not sure how they would ever be seen as anything but lovely.

I think, if you mean those little stones on the band, I probably would regard them as a bit tacky, just not as classy as something simpler. It’s a bit overkill. Likewise, wedding bands with similar stones all the way around. Just my opinion.

Ginger1982 · 29/01/2023 17:59

Depends on your taste. I have side stones on my engagement ring and stones around my wedding ring. I don't think it looks tacky. I like a bit of sparkle.

OP means stones on the band.

TheWelshTart · 29/01/2023 18:36

With side stones you will get more bling for your buck - you will get less carat in a single stone for the same money. I prefer a solitaire and I have a full diamond band as my wedding band. My solitaire is bigger than the individual stones on the band so it is definitely not overshadowed.

DramaAlpaca · 29/01/2023 18:51

I prefer the simplicity of rings without side stones.

VickerishAllsort · 29/01/2023 19:09

In my humble opinion you can never have too many diamonds.

safeplanet · 29/01/2023 19:27

I didn't realise it was about band stones!

Thanks @YaWeeFurryBastard

Wishimaywishimight · 29/01/2023 19:38

@sasafeplanet that's a bit like mine

I was at a shop till yesterday and the lady in front had an engagement ring similar to the pics but It had the diamonds in the band and it was just so glittery. I love sparkles and the little stones always add more glitter which in the right lighting is magical. Told her I thought her engagement ring was beautiful too.
