Stepped outside at lunchtime today without a coat and found that my shirt seemed to conduct the cold and hold it in for ages after I'd come inside 🥶

New Nike Air Max Dawn with Topshop trousers and Monki shirt.

Nice shirt @EnoBaby
Love your outfit @oubliettebravo
I'm in a repeat of a couple of days ago!

toucaninjapan · 09/03/2023 04:34

Wearing my jellyfish embroidery shirt for a call with the US (I had to wake up at 4:30 for it).
The weather is absolutely beautiful over here, so DH and I had a little lunch date outside during the break. Everything is blossoming, can't wait for the white sakura to bloom too. 🌸
Shirt - Graniph
Jeans - Uniqlo
Belt - Sezane

I think I've just found a new gorgeous summer dress. ❤️
It's from Uniqlo's new collaboration with Ines de la Fressange, I like how it gives me this hourglass shape. I might just end up getting another one in a different color-way. 😂

Your dress looks lovely @toucaninjapan ! It looks like such a jolly summer dress. Your jellyfish shirt is also really fun. I have just been catching up a little on the thread. That whole affair with the ballet class teacher sounds awful, and the name situation is something that I can identify with. Two of my children have names from my husbands culture and have received constant rejection from that culture (at school, clubs, society at large). I've been told on numerous occasions that one of my son's names is only for people of that country. My daughter was born in my husband's native land (cheers Covid!), and it was voiced often by the medical staff that they were annoyed that I didn't give birth in my land of birth the UK. Even had a very unwanted conversation about not being from a certain continent that I can clearly only come from, whilst being measured for dilation during labour. No one has ever said anything to my mid 40s 6"3 husband funnily enough. It is very exhausting.

That skirt is beautiful @Puddinandpie ! Love it, love it, love it! Does it have belt loops? If not, doesn't the belt ride up during the course of the day? (Don't ask me to divulge) Blush

toucaninjapan · 09/03/2023 07:52

What a terrible experience @HorribleHisTories15 , I'm very sorry that you had to go through it, some people are just unbelievable. I'm very tempted to ask where exactly people are this close-minded 😡

Sooverthemill · 09/03/2023 08:24

Still cold, no settled snow thank goodness

my glasses broke in two yesterday, just came apart when I was holding them! so I’m
in 4 years old ones which I really really hate and which look and feel so wrong. Can’t get an appointment until Saturday week so I’m
stuck. We don’t have chain opticians here, just a single independent ( for which read hideously expensive) which though nice is limited only doing 6 appointments on 3 days a week. Remind me? Why don’t we live in a city?

all in blue
shirt: baukjen
tank and trousers: me and em
trainers: air and grace

I love your jellyfish shirt @toucaninjapan.

Snowing and settling here. It’s supposed to have turned to rain. No sign of that yet. So proper boots are currently essential - even if they seem
a bit incongruous with the rest of the outfit.

Jumper: Warehouse
Skirt: Karen Millen
Boots: Matalan

@toucaninjapan your outfits look fab, I've bought a few gingham dresses for summer to, they just seem so pretty and light and airy, your figure looks, fab too! (Defo yet in more colours)😉
@HorribleHisTories15 that's awful, it makes me mad and sad when the realisation hits that sometimes people are just sh@%, it's bad enough when the small minded feel they can comment normally, let alone when your feeling....vulnerable! 😟
Thanks for the skirt love, yes it does have loops, thank god, otherwise the belt would disappear 😳😆
@Purplecatshopaholic wow those boots
@OublietteBravo I love that outfit, glad your not freezing at work anymore

Cardigansalltheway · 09/03/2023 11:15

We have snow! Feeling very thankful that I can work from home as much as I like and I don't have to battle with the rail / road chaos that inevitably results in even a whiff of adverse weather conditions.

Jumper and boots: H&M
Skirt: Sainsbury's

No pic as am out the house with nowhere to take a discreet body selfie, but:

  • charcoal grey M&S merino collared jumper, 2nd hand, over a thermal top
  • slim black trousers from Mango
  • unbranded slim black wellies, charity shop
  • black 100% wool peacoat, old H&M
  • plain navy pashmina, bought in Vietnam decades ago
  • black wool beret, charity shop

It has snowed constantly all day, but it's all the sneaky wet sort and now I am drenched. Feet alright though!

Netcam · 09/03/2023 12:14

You all look amazing in your skirts and dresses. Might dare to bring one out of the wardrobe next week. In the meantime, nothing new. These green wool wide legged trousers will be with me until the snow goes, today they have Falke softmerino tights underneath. Also wearing Smartwool merino base layer top, Croft House Shetland wool seamless jumper, Stapf wool cardigan, Fitflop shearling boots and I am warm. I am at home the next couple of days and DH WFH nearly all the time, but we've still managed with only an hour of heating on morning and evening the whole winter. But it means really wrapping up on days like today.

In both pics Jigsaw sweater (sale).
Trousers - Boden (wide leg) and M&S (straight leg)
To be worn with my (you guessed it) Solovairs.

Also as a PS to remarks and questions upthread about Poetry. You may recall I bought several items for a hot holiday I went on.
Well, back home I've washed them all and there's shrinkage. To the extent one pair of trousers is no longer wearable. Very disappointed

@faffadoodledo
that is really rubbish about the Poetry trousers, how annoying, especially at that price. Did you follow washing instructions fully? If so, I think you have a right to complain.

I have made no progress in finding summer trousers but this has put me off Poetry. I ordered some from John Lewis and they were horrible, they had polyester pocket lining and loads of polyester around the waist area even though they were unlined, hardly what you want in cool linen trousers, so they went back, along with some from Boden.

Trying again and have ordered a variety from White Stuff to try, will see how that goes. I wear shorts, skirts or dresses a lot in the summer but have no summer trousers other than leggings as I can never find any I like, but am giving it another go this year.

EllaPaella · 09/03/2023 18:27

That Ines dress is fabulous @toucaninjapan

EllaPaella · 09/03/2023 18:30

The Everlane trousers arrived for those who were interested- I really like them. Very flattering fit with the barrel shaped leg, as you know I'm partial to a barrel leg. Like @Sooverthemill the cotton is pretty thick, so suitable for all seasons. True to size verging on perhaps a tiny bit generous I would say but the waist os adjustable so that's fine.

EllaPaella · 09/03/2023 18:31

I meant as @Sooverthemill says the cotton is thick 😳😳😬 Sorry Soover!

faffadoodledo · 09/03/2023 19:04

Yep @Netcam I did. So I think I may complain. They were a lovely cropped barrel leg shape and are now more like cigarette silhouette!

EllaPaella · 09/03/2023 20:32

I had thought about a pair of Poetry trousers but reading the reviews many said that they didn't hang quite right so I didn't bother. Interesting to hear your report @faffadoodledo

Teenyweenyitsybitsy · 09/03/2023 21:13

It's got to be said you ladies have got some really nice outfits, I'm really liking @Purplecatshopaholic dress and what a lovely autumnal colour that skirt is @Cardigansalltheway also I think I might need that skirt @Puddinandpie and I see you are on the layered necklaces look @EllaPaella I blame @Puddinandpie for that idea 🥰

Teenyweenyitsybitsy · 09/03/2023 21:16

@EllaPaella as I'm now a slave to the layered necklace look too is what I meant to say

EnoBaby · 09/03/2023 21:44

You look fantastic @EllaPaella.

Dressed to keep my hems out of the slush today. Topshop trousers, shirt from ASOS and Schuh boots.
