Hahah that made me laugh @HorribleHisTories15 hope it was a good one.
Thanks @takemebacktothe1990s . I just get fed up of recycling the same outfits. I work in primary school so don’t like to wear anything too precious. Yesterday I was covering year 6 so was less likely to be on the floor .😃

Amazing holiday pics @faffadoodledo !

@PumpkinSpicedTea that was me with the KJP pumpkin sweater. 😇 Unfortunately I don't know where you can buy it preloved, however I must say I've seen people post photos of exact copies they found on some Chinese websites selling cheap clothing. I personally would still prefer to pay to KJP directly though, however the shipment and taxes are huuuuge! You can also take a look at Etsy, I've seen something kinda similar over there.

@EllaPaella my jaw dropped when I saw your outfit, so fabulous!

@Purplecatshopaholic your Dube boots are gorgeous!

@Puddinandpie absolutely love that tiger outfit

toucaninjapan · 04/03/2023 11:57

I was busy running around after DD today, hence the comfy outfit.

DD has a third trial ballet lesson tomorrow, and I'm kinda dreading going there. SadDD seems to be enjoying it all, she didn't want to leave last time we went etc., the only fly in the ointment is the rude admin lady who's working there.

She saw us for the first time last week and she felt it was appropriate to bombard me with highly intrusive questions regarding my parenting choices, the language I speak to my daughter etc., all asked in a very condescending tone in front of everyone. I honestly felt like a suspect being interrogated!

I'd tried to be polite the Japanese way (i.e. without saying "it's not your goddamn business", as omg that'd be so straightforward and rude, shame on you toucan), so I was giving one-word replies, which only made her think she could be even more intrusive with the things she was asking (AND she started giving definite nationalistic vibes), so I unfortunately lost my cool and said her Japanese was very good in my sweetest voice.

Everybody laughed their asses off (but then of course looked at me like omg I can't believe she really said that), the admin lady went red in the face (shut up immediately) and now DH is mad at me for jeopardizing DD's image, because if the word of mouth spreads, local people might start being rude to DD, ignoring her etc. because of the way her mother is. There's a chance (slim for now, unless I screw up again) we might get turned down by the ballet school and so on. Unfortunately I know he's not exaggerating as I've seen these things happen with my own eyes in the past.

A Japanese being rude to you is not the same as you, a foreigner, being rude towards Japanese. NOW I wish I was rude in the straightforward way, maybe it would look less rude compared to what I said. Oh well.
Sorry for venting! Just felt like getting this weight off my chest before tomorrow. Sad

Sadly my jaguar bag (lol) is not current @Puddinandpie, probably nearer ten years old - must use it more. Dress from Forbidden Tribes - faffing around the house, taking doggies out, general life admin-type day.

Everything Vinted or Charity shop except the trousers. Spent the morning getting a few last bits for our Skiing trip (go next weekend and we all needed new socks and base layers) now having a laze on the sofa reading the Saturday paper. Going for a dip in the sea soon then drinks at a friends later. Perfect Saturday.

Puddinandpie · 04/03/2023 15:45

@EllaPaella I'm just sitting on my sofa catching up with this thread and see your pic and I'm like wow i Iove that trench, I like the sleeves, I like the shape, I love it, I wonder where she got it from.......then it clicked I've got that exact trench already🤣 (serious brain fart moment haha)

@Greyhairwarmheart fab top
@OublietteBravo great jumpsuit
@HorribleHisTories15 lol, thank you, fellow londoner 😉
@toucaninjapan thanks for the outfit love, it's such a pain when you feel like you want to open your mouth but can't, that's something I struggle with especially when someone is a pain in the arse, you are a better person than me though😁

No pics from me today I am merely lurking, me, dh and dc are doing some serious vegging out in front of the telly and eating total crap, I love it!!

PumpkinSpicedTea · 04/03/2023 16:07

@toucaninjapan thank you!! I did see one on Ali Express but was wondering what I'd actually receive 😂 I'll check on Etsy etc for similar. Such a cute jumper.

EllaPaella · 04/03/2023 16:28

Ah well great minds and all that @Puddinandpie 😁

Cardigansalltheway · 04/03/2023 17:18

Great to see the thread so busy, some lovely outfits!

Having a huge clear out of old baby clothes, kids toys etc - there's stuff that I've hung onto for years but I've now had enough and need more storage space, so today has featured lots of trips to the charity shop. I find it hard to get rid of stuff that has lots of sentimental value but equally, I think you can't keep everything forever. But certain things like the really special handmade items made by good friends and family I'm afraid I can't bear to part with, so I've not been entirely ruthless....

Jumper: Mango
Jeans: H&M
Trainers: Adidas

The Croft House Shetland wool seamless jumper, Icebreaker wool trousers from 2016, warm and comfy day at home with DH while teens are with their dad. I did do 45 mins on the rebounder this morning with PJ bottoms and sports bra while DH was out for his run. And had a 2 hour Zoom call with a friend this afternoon while cycling on the desk bike. Trying to get my legs in a better condition so I can get them out in shorts when the weather finally warms up.

You look really nice @takemebacktothe1990s . Your pink top really suits you.

Ha @Benjispruce4 ! Sorry for the nonsense.

What a bunch of excellent finds @EllaPaella ! That spring mac looks incredible. There is such treasure in charity shops to behold (shazzers as we used to call them). Your bag looks very nice too.

I really like the pattern on your muted green top from Debenhams@Greyhairwarmheart

I also really like your shirt from yesterday @OublietteBravo .

The pattern of your curtains is lovely and cheery @Netcam . Men can be funny about clothes sometimes can't they? They don't notice much for ages, then they voice a strong opinion about something. The trousers look very comfortable

You look lovely again @Sooverthemill . Your hand knitted top looks incredible. The jeans work really well with the jumper too.

You look really cool in your cropped hoodie and barrel shaped trousers @EnoBaby . I really like it.

Benjispruce4 · 05/03/2023 07:11

@toucaninjapan Perhaps send an email to whoever is in charge of the ballet school to explain how you had been questioned. Are there any others?

Netcam · 03/03/2023 06:58

@faffadoodledo looks like a fresh coconut, are you in Asia somewhere? I had been looking at some linen trousers on Poetry, but was unsure as reviews about quality is not great and they are very expensive. The shorts look great though, as well as the scenery. How have you found the quality of the Poetry linen?

I'm back now. It was a (very refreshing) coconut. I was in St Lucia. We've never done a resort beach holiday before (tho one of our resorts was quite off grid) and we struggle to do the whole beach all inclusive thing. So went off on our own hiking through some v hot lushness. Not sure I'd return to the Caribbean for that reason tbh - we like to really explore and opportunities seemed limited unless you wanted to be herded with other people.

The Poetry shorts (quite short, and black and lightweight) were excellent. The trousers I bought: one pair were surprisingly heavy weight and only got worn one evening to ward off the mosquitoes (they adore me); the other were barrel legged and cropped and much lighter and better - also have a kind of texture to them so don't show creases. All the dresses I tried I sent back because they were like wearing large shapeless sacks! So I took trusty old favourites, and discovered that M&S's winter holiday shop is pretty good so picked a new one from there too.

so order plenty on your credit card from Poetry and really sift. I returned masses and kept very little. Probably shouldn't have kept the trousers tbh

Wish I'd taken some wardrobe shots - wasnt thinking, and I'd deleted my MN app among others for my hols!

Netcam · 05/03/2023 08:14

@HorribleHisTories15 thanks, I love those curtains, bargain from Habitat for about £40. We redecorated the living room during Covid and finally got rid of the 20 year old sofa I'd bought with my ex that had broken. We got a nice new sofa and new furniture so have finally made that room 'ours'. By then we'd gone way over budget so I was really pleased to find the cheap curtains to finish it off.

DH is lovely actually, he just gives an honest opinion if I ask, which I appreciate. I am really lucky to have found him after a very bad experience of marriage the first time round. He knows I get really cold and need warm clothes and is supportive whatever I choose to wear, which is usually loads of layers in the winter.

The wool fabric of the new wide ones is really lovely wool jersey with soft wool fleece on the inside, they are so warm, I have a thing about the feel of nice fabrics against my skin. They are actually the same make (Icebreaker) as the grey wool ones in the other photo above that I got in 2016, which I had to take up as they were too long.

@faffadoodledo you sound very much like us when it comes to holidays. We like to go hiking in nice scenery away from the crowds. It must have been lovely to get some sun away from the cold here though.

I totally understand where you're coming from regarding resorts. We have always taken the kids on one holiday that they help choose. Then we've gone away for a 3 week adventure in the summer when they are with their dad, trying to organise it around hiking trips. Some have been walks in secluded places, others, like Huangshan in China, which was incredible, were full of people.

I am a mosquito magnet too and have to cover myself in Deet anywhere with malaria, which is not fun. But this year we're going to Northumbria and the Lake District so I really don't need cool linen trousers to protect me from mosquitos!

My teens are older now and aren't really interested in family holidays anymore.

So we got a tiny 2 berth pop top caravan last year and did our big summer trip in the UK planned around hiking trips and coastal walks. Very different from a 3 week middle backpacking trip abroad with a 5kg luggage limit each.

DH took a bit of convincing, but we are now really wanting to save as much as we can for retirement and try and learn to adapt to living more simply. I loved cooking and eating outside and being able to tour different sites based in nature where we could plan our walks.

Thanks for the info about Poetry. I see what you mean about the dresses, being 5'3 they would look like sacks on me too. I need a dress to be close fitting to look OK on me. But I do love the look of some of the linen and linen/wool trousers, especially since they do short lengths or cropped ones.

I think I will leave it for now and see what's available in the end of summer sales. I can always do a big order then to try stuff out. DH can give me something for Christmas if I find anything I like, I'm supposed to be on a no spend year!
