Balm as first cleanse…what’s your second cleanse?
Tinks15 · 25/01/2023 21:28
If you use a balm as your 1st cleanse what do you use for your second cleanse?

Cerave Hydrating Cleanser
Same but I’m actually beginning to doubt how much this cleanses. And it doesn’t lather so I’m failing to see how it cleans off residual oil. Not sure what to try though as my skin is finicky these days.
QforCucumber · 25/01/2023 21:48
La Roche posay gel cleanser and then their toner. Body shop chamomile balm for make up removal.
PAFMO · 26/01/2023 06:47
Depends what I've got.
At the moment I'm using the N7 one followed by the N7 cleanser. It'll be the Superdrug vit E next as I've got a full tube of that.
travailtotravel · 26/01/2023 07:06
I don't. Nice warm flannel.sorts out the residue. I stopped because it made no difference to my face. I use Elemis balm. Its my only spendy skincare, mind.
Girlintheframe · 26/01/2023 09:13
Cerave generally but I also have a Korean cream cleanser which I sometimes use.
Acqua · 26/01/2023 10:15
I also use a rich oil, balm or cream for my first cleanse to get off makeup and sunscreen.
2nd cleanse is either:
a) using up my QVC Elemis TSV gel style cleansers so as not to waste them;
or
b) CeraVe hydrating cleanser (in winter months when my skin is drier) or CeraVe SA cleanser (in summer months when my skin is oilier).
Doesn't matter too much as long as skin feels comfortable when you're done. You don't want a tight feeling as if your skin has been stripped.
MyAnacondaMight · 26/01/2023 10:21
Cerave hydrating. Or I quite like L’Oreal Age Perfect cleansing milk. Does the job, doesn’t upset my skin, and is super cheap.
HandbagsnGladrags · 26/01/2023 10:31
Cerave do a foaming cleanser, leaves your skin feeling really clean. I use it after micellar water as a first cleanse.
HamFrancisco · 26/01/2023 10:33
I don't, my face feels clean after using the cleansing balm.
Fridaysgirl17 · 26/01/2023 10:37
I use the nip & fab vitamin c cleanser, I feel it does a good job & leaves my skin hydrated which is what I need,my skin is sensitive & does well with that line
meetmeatmidnights · 26/01/2023 10:42
Elemis collagen balm as first cleanse, Liz Earle cleanse and polish as the second cleanse. Then a good acid toner, eye serum, moisturiser etc
TheVelvetOnion · 26/01/2023 10:50
I use The Ordinary Glucoside Foaming Cleanser after using my balm. Love it!
tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 26/01/2023 10:50
Superfacialist Vit C Oil £7 when on offer and lasts ages
Smells gorgeous, the lovely texture and scent make me want to spend a few minutes massaging in then rinses off nice with a warm cloth or flannel
I actually look forward to my routine each evening. Plus I'm going through the first phase on almost a year of being completely eczema/leprosy or whatever it is, free, on my poor knackered looking eyelids so the mirror is a bit kinder currently
wibblewobbleball · 26/01/2023 10:52
I don't. I use a balm that emulsifies with water, and a flannel and no residue is left on my skin. Double cleansing is only needed if I am wearing very very heavy make up. I think doing it every day is a shill to get you to buy more product to be honest.
LadyOfTheCanyon · 26/01/2023 11:12
I don't. I use micellar water to take off make up and then a balm cleanser with a hot cloth to clean my face and get rid of traces of the MW.
If it's a day with no make up I just use a balm cleanser/ hot cloth.
Branster · 26/01/2023 11:33
I don't either.
I use a hot cloth cleanser (favour Eve Lom but don't use it all the time, sometimes I go for cheaper alternatives) with the Eve Lon massage technique.
Then I have a shower.
After drying, I often use a toner, or essence as they are called nowadays. Something with an exfoliating action ( Biologique Recharger which I can't spell or gentler alternatives such as Clarins toner or whatever I happen to be trying, currently Tropic Juicy Green Essence).

I came on to say exactly this. Only difference is I follow up with Lacura Rose toner as a final step before day/night creams.
FlowerFlour · 26/01/2023 11:38
I use Neutrogena Hydroboost gel cleanser as a second cleanse because my skin is really dehydrated. It wouldn't be enough to remove make up on it's own but is good for my skin.
What are your skin concerns / skin type OP? I think your second cleanse should be something tailored to your exact needs.
DaVariance · 26/01/2023 13:29
I use Dermalogica special cleanse gel
I don't like the Cerave ones because they're too watered down so are a waste of money
Dermalogica is very concentrated so you only need a tiny bit so it lasts for ages so works out the sabe price really or less even for what you get plus it's a lovely gel cleanser
I buy Dermalogica clear start fir DD which I use once a week or so and that's also very concentrated so again much better and nicer than Cerave SA for example which is so watery in comparison
