Balm as first cleanse…what’s your second cleanse?

If you use a balm as your 1st cleanse what do you use for your second cleanse?

Exactly the same cleanser again. Why would it need to be a different one? Never made sense to me. Balm, hot cloth, balm again and hot cloth again.

Elemis balm or oil for cleanse 1, then Burt's Bees cream face cleanser to follow. It smells so nice and it has made a difference to my skin.

Pinkdafodils · 26/01/2023 14:28

What's a 'balm'?

squishee · 26/01/2023 14:41

Cleansing balm. So heavy that you need another type of cleanser to cleanse it off. Madness, and just another beauty industry moneyspinner IMHO.

No, that's not it tbf.

If you wear makeup then whatever cleanser you use should be repeated. You need to a) remove make up b) cleanse skin.

Doesn't matter if it's a balm, lotion, oil or cream. Though the one product that does leave an icky film on skin is micellar water.

Cleanser doesn't need to be expensive. No beauty experts who actually appreciate the science behind the products advocate something like Elemis, Eve Lom or any of the spendy ones. They go down the plug in 20 seconds, they're not going to do anything that the £2 Superdrug one doesn't. How much you spend is a matter of personal choice.

ramonaquimby · 26/01/2023 19:39

Also only use one cleanse -the Elemis pro collagen balm. It’s gorgeous and is enough for me

MumUndone · 26/01/2023 20:01

I've never understood the double cleansing thing, either for face or for hair. Surely one wash should be enough and if it's not, you're not using the right product for your needs?

Pinkdafodils · 26/01/2023 20:09

I also don't understand the need to double cleanse. Use the correct product that actually cleans..?!

Thank you!!! Wanted to ask the same thing!

oild based cleaner to remove most of make up followed by soap based cleaner to remove the rest.
just using balm vleaner leaves me with panda eyes the next morning.

TattiePants · 26/01/2023 21:11

@Pinkdafodils and @Jojo19834 a cleansing balm is a thick cleanser with a buttery, oily texture. It breaks down makeup and suntan lotion better that a normal cleanser but it can leave an oily residue on your skin that you then wash off with normal cleanser / face wash.

Balm as first cleanse…what’s your second cleanse?
Rebel2023 · 27/01/2023 02:12

I do the opposite I guess
If I'm wearing heavy eye makeup/foundation then I use eye makeup remover or bioderma water first
Then balm cleanse

LRP Toleraine. Brilliant stuff.
