Dior nail glow

I've never been a person who had their nails "done" and until fairly recently that seemed mostly normal. Most people I worked with or socialised with didn't have theirs done either.

Now, it seems like I'm the only one and I find myself embarrassed by the state of my hands.

With the best will in the world, I'm never going to be the sort of person who spends an hour or so in the salon every week or even every few weeks and my perfect world would be hands that look cared for, "manicured" but fairly natural. When I paint my nails myself they look dreadful, though I've got better at sorting out the cuticles.

Dior nail glow been suggested. It's very expensive but I'd spend it if for a fairly small investment I time I can achieve my aims.

So, how good is it and what can I expect from it? What exactly does it do? Will my hands still look shabby next to professionally done nails?

I like it. It is expensive, considering, but it takes two minutes and dries quickly. A single coat is all you need, as long as your nails are clean and cuticles tidy to start with.

Essie does a dupe ‘hard to resist’

EffortlessDesmond · 18/01/2023 17:13

And since I discovered it, my DM and DSis have all bought their own.

EffortlessDesmond · 18/01/2023 17:15

It lasts well too. I bought mine last May and there's 85% left in the bottle.

Thanks @GoldenCagedBird . I might try that next time.

determinedtomakethiswork · 18/01/2023 17:17

Ooooh I like the look of this!

HyggeTygge · 18/01/2023 17:17

I like it too. Got some ages ago and it's a good way of looking subtly more polished for very low effort. I'm v low maintenance though!

MelchiorsMistress · 18/01/2023 17:17

The main thing a professional manicure does for me is to tidy up cuticles and make sure nails are all the same shape and length so I think it’s that that makes the biggest difference to looking tidy.

I have Dior nail glow and I love how it looks, it just makes the pink bits look pinker and the white bits look slightly whiter so nails look healthier. Looks especially nice if you use a white pencil on the underside as well. It starts to flake off after a couple of days which is a bit disappointing considering it’s expensive. But

Yep, the Essie one is basically the same product at half the price.

yousmellnice · 18/01/2023 17:18

It's lovely

Craghopper1 · 18/01/2023 17:19

I have the Essie one as well - it's great 👍

HollyBollyBooBoo · 18/01/2023 17:19

I didn't think it was anything special for the price. Will check out the Essie one though.

LaurieFairyCake · 18/01/2023 17:22

It's really cheap Confused - basically a bottle will last a whole year for £25 - less than one manicure costs where I go

Actually one of my favourite things about Sex and the City was that Carrie never did her nails - and now so many people get their nails done

Wiennetta · 18/01/2023 17:33

I’ll go against the grain and say I didn’t love it. Especially for the price. The colour is pretty, but I found it flaked off and didn’t last well. Also agree that it’s probably the shape and file, cuticle care etc that makes more of a difference than the polish.

Drstrange · 18/01/2023 17:38

What be used both and the Essie one is so much better for less than half the money.

Drstrange · 18/01/2023 17:39

That should say “I’ve used both” 🙄

PanicAtTheBigTesco · 18/01/2023 18:13

I bought it after reading rave reviews on here and wasn't hugely impressed with it, I still use it but I'm going to try the Essie one once it's run out.

Cincinnatus · 18/01/2023 18:14

I really love it but I don’t use it often because it always flakes off two days later.

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 18/01/2023 18:19

The essie definitely lasts longer than 2 days on me before flaking

Illegally18 · 18/01/2023 19:43

tx for this tip!

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 18/01/2023 22:17

Love NG also.

Getting my nails shapes and cuticle care at Superdrug on Friday, £10 then I'll put this on after dinner. Totally foolproof and wine proof for application Grin

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 18/01/2023 22:17

I'd say I get at least week before peeling

Lagirl20 · 18/01/2023 22:56

OP I have it and I love it. It makes your nails look so polished and perfect. I also love Dior base coat in Abricot. Like a creamy nude version of nail glow. I actually have a spare bottle of the nail glow that I’m never going to get through (it lasts forever!) can post it to you half price if you like, just DM me 😊

SiobhanSharpe · 18/01/2023 22:58

I found it a bit streaky TBH.

PeanutJellyAndButter · 18/01/2023 23:42

I like it, but I do find it makes my nails look a bit over pink. I really like the shine and that it’s super quick to do, one coat and it dries quickly.

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 19/01/2023 15:33

One thing about Dior and Chanel polishes I HATE is the skinny long brush. Really difficult for a sausage fingered numpty like me to get a good polish done.

Another reason why NG is so good as you can't see the brush tracks
