Hi you might remember I posted last week
I went from blonde to brown and after 2 washes it's faded quite a bit.
This was after a pre colour and colour
I paid over £150 for this
Is this normal ?
I'm using Luke warm water and shampoo especially for colour treated hair and a very good hair condition/mask

Il show pic last Wednesday and today

I can't see the difference, but if you aren't happy, it might be worth trying.

namechange1487 · 16/01/2023 16:53

I'm blonde and that's definitely brown!

But brown is such a wide ranging term

Pancakeorcrepe · 16/01/2023 17:10

It’s definitely still brown, was it much darker when you left the hairdresser?
For my hair this would be normal as it is very porous and any colour quickly washes out. Maybe you have a similar hair type.

RuthW · 16/01/2023 17:14

I can't see much difference but being an ex hairdresser I know that brown will wash out of pre lightened hair.

Woeman · 16/01/2023 17:16

You need to go through red first. Lots of videos on YouTube.

Shoogly · 16/01/2023 17:21

Which is the lighter one?

Luckingfovely · 16/01/2023 17:27

I can't see any notable difference. But pps are right - putting a darker shade over bleached hair is always going to wash out gradually. I don't think the hairdresser can do anything more (although perhaps they should have made it clear to expect fading).

lookinbaxn · 16/01/2023 17:39

It's deffo lightened but as you say I'm assuming my hair is v porous with being bleached and very bad condition

watchfulwishes · 16/01/2023 17:40

You have brown hair, did you want it much darker? I can't see the issue from the photos you have posted.

lookinbaxn · 16/01/2023 17:47

The first picture is the brown
The second picture is the blonde coming through after only two washes

OP posts:
lookinbaxn · 16/01/2023 17:48

It almost looks like blonde highlights

The thing is that you can't get rid of bleach. Once you've bleached it, it's done and dyeing over the top doesn't seem to last very long IME. I've had toners over the top of bleach many times and it doesn't really last on me. I have grown out the bleach now and it seems like dye lasts longer. So I think it might be the bleach underneath

FurAndFeathers · 16/01/2023 17:55

Your hair is damaged and porous, that means it will pick up colour easily but don’t hold onto colour until the condition improves. The colour will wash out

EarlyYearsMe · 16/01/2023 17:57

I can’t really see what you mean from the pictures- but if you aren’t satisfied, (£150 is a lot of money!!) then pop back and see what the professionals think

Ihatethenewlook · 16/01/2023 17:57

I’d be pissed off at the price tbh. I’d have gone with an £8 box dye to go from blonde to brown to achieve the same result.

JMAngel1 · 16/01/2023 18:11

Not helpful but I think it's gorgeous - looks like a naturally lightened through the ends light ash brown. Really pretty.

JMAngel1 · 16/01/2023 18:49

I've just seen your other thread - I think the salon did a great job. Would be so easy going darker for colour to grab in places and also have a green tinge. They gave you a lovely even finish and a perfect neutral ash tone.

Starburst8 · 16/01/2023 19:00

I can see what you mean but only because my hair is like this. Unfortunately it's not the salon's fault, it'd happen even if you put a box colour on it. Your hair must be like mine and not very porous.
I had bleach blonde on my hair so now I'm brunette, every time I wash my hair I'm starting to fade to an Ash blonde.

junglistmassive · 16/01/2023 19:05

It seems that they've followed the correct path as it's not green (it looks nice). It will wash out though as your hair was bleached. Eventually, as your natural colour comes through it will stay dark if you keep having it coloured.

SparkyBlue · 16/01/2023 19:08

I did similar to you a few years back and it was the same situation. The colour faded really quickly. I had just to keep getting it done regularly

iliketartan · 16/01/2023 19:10

I can't see any difference in colour with the two photos.

NothingButSpace · 16/01/2023 19:10

My hair has done exactly the same except I dyed it myself. I went bleached blonde to dark and it started to fade within a few washes. Now every couple of months I dye it dark again and it still fades. It probably will until I have grown out all my hair to my natural colour.

BertaHoon · 16/01/2023 19:12

I remember your post. I actually prefer this colour.

I too bleached my hair and now it struggles to hold on to colour. I only use box kits though thankfully!
