Hi you might remember I posted last week
I went from blonde to brown and after 2 washes it's faded quite a bit.
This was after a pre colour and colour
I paid over £150 for this
Is this normal ?
I'm using Luke warm water and shampoo especially for colour treated hair and a very good hair condition/mask

Il show pic last Wednesday and today

I wouldn't go back to the hairdresser btw.

I think from now on il stick to a box dye
I don't want to be paying £150 every 7 weeks for it to wash out straight away

Would it help to do a slow balange thing, let your natural colour come in blended?

namechange1487 · 16/01/2023 22:48

Or is it ombré?

lookinbaxn · 17/01/2023 09:23

It's meant to be a full colour brown but is fading due to how porous my hair is

This is normal, sadly. Try a conditioner or a glaze for brunettes to keep it brown everytime you wash

Appleblum · 17/01/2023 10:11

They look the same to me and it's a very nice shade of brown. Enjoy your hair!

I did the same thing with a box dye and it’s also getting lighter very fast. I definitely wouldn’t be paying £150 for just all over colour, but as you have maybe they’d top you up a bit? It’ll still start fading.

I’m using a wash in conditioner from Superdrug to try and maintain the colour and will just go over it again with box dye as and when until my bleached bits have grown out though by then I might want blonde again!

When I got my first full time job (many moons ago) I treated myself to a professional colour. Years of bad maintenance and various box dyes meant my hair was a mess; several shades from top to bottom. I asked to go back to brunette.

I came out of the hairdressers feeling a million dollars - which was good, because I had spent almost that - and was bitterly disappointed when the dye faded to a reddish colour after a week. I went back to the same hairdresser who said they could put a toner (?) on, but I would have to pay for this plus a wash and blow dry.

Now I get they would need to charge for the toner, but the rest seemed unreasonable, so I decided to go back to the box (especially since they told me the toner would probably wash out too).

In hindsight I know understand that all dyes can fade, but I found that sticking with the same box dye, and massively upping my hair maintenance game, gave me the results I wanted without having to spend a fortune.

I’d be pissed off at the price tbh. I’d have gone with an £8 box dye to go from blonde to brown to achieve the same result.

Me too
