Does anyone know where I can get some toast-esque socks from?
I'm not fussed by the patterns this season. Would like some nice wool socks with subtle prints or a marl or speckled but finding it hard to fine any. Recommendations? I know there are plenty of Falke socks but was looking for maybe a subtle fairisle.

neveradullmoment99 · 19/01/2023 10:44

Not overly thick ones.

Just out of interest, when did this thread begin? I lurked for a long while before posting so it won't be in my history.

Sporting this combo today!

My local T K Maxx has a brilliant selection of socks at a fraction of Toast prices.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 19/01/2023 11:08

Looks like the sale has restocked again, lots of the homeware back in - not that I’m looking Blush.

neveradullmoment99 · 19/01/2023 11:09

Looks really nice @dudsville What skirt is that you have on?

Laska2Meryls · 19/01/2023 11:47

The copper linen garment dyed balloon trousers came back in , brilliant, have ordered those and if they are good I will send back the fenugreek ones .. they can wait for the next sale !!
Flotsam dress arrived, I really like it but its too big , luckily I have the smaller size on its way . It needs a but of fiddling with the ties but once you get ot right for your shape its fab.. I don't usually do brown but actually the yellowy cream (vanilla ice cream shade) dominates..
So sending that back today ..
I think the sale will end maybe Tuesday..

During the first lockdown - JL had massive reductions and we all got into the sale.

Has anyone got this dress? Have seen on Vinted or Depop can't remember which and it's an 8...... now sometimes I can fit into a TOAST 8 but not always!

Is it fitted! Roomy? The model in one of the pictures is wearing it with a jumper underneath but I can't see on the TOAST website now to check the size she's wearing as it's oos.

@neveradullmoment99 - Have a look at Mercantile London - I bought some really nice socks from there last week by Le Bon Shoppe. TK Maxx is a very good idea too though. They always have great Pringle ones

@dudsville - lovely colour combination

The big coat arrived and is going straight back - it's a very dead colour on me, very unflattering fit and after just trying on was already beginning to look crumpled in a bad way. What a shame!

Saurus72 · 19/01/2023 15:53

@mizu O don’t have that velvet pinafore but I did try it on because she’s a beauty. It’s relatively fitted around the bodice bit - I’m a curvy 14 and most of my Toast dresses are size 12 but I needed a 14 in this one. I didn’t buy it because it all felt a bit too bulky around the back. The fabric is truly beautiful.

mizu · 19/01/2023 15:56

Thanks @Saurus72 perhaps I'll ask for pit to pit measurements just to check further!

WidowMaroonedOnADesertIsland · 19/01/2023 18:09

What is the big coat @faustina ?

faustina · 19/01/2023 18:13

The quilted cotton twill coat

I can't rember if anyone on here has bought or tried on the Broderie Anglaise dress.

If so, any thoughts?

it's looking quite good value but I have a dress already that I think might be very similar (poplin dress in Prussian Blue from last season - refer to it as my Jane Eyre dress).

MiracleToast · 19/01/2023 22:05

@faustina that’s such a shame about the big coat. I thought it looked really nice.

lordloveadog · 19/01/2023 22:23

Gingham linen dress arrived and is more voluminous, more nunnish, and more brown than appears in the picture.

But I think it will be useful for casual hot weather wear and international returns are expensive so I will probably keep it. I actually like that the check is brownish. The fabric quality is heavenly.

The wool tshirt is great at sale price. I expected to wear it only under jumpers but it looks ok by itself. It's nice and long.

Cashmere jumper is scheduled for delivery tomorrow.

dudsville · 20/01/2023 01:47

@neveradullmoment99 , it's this one, i wear it so often.

Wow, @ilovecherries ,I presumed this thread was older then that!

I've taken the opportunity to buy a second wool check blanket. It seems really good value to me. And I've bought the heathery wool jumper in saphire as i love the orange so much.

It's a lovely skirt. I'm sadly not good with a fixed waistband.
I thought this thread was older than that too!

Two of the three utility dresses arrived today, the check and the denim. The cut of the dress pattern does not suit me. Where it goes in, I go out, and vice versa!

This dress was perfect on me! So weird how we are so different shapes wise. I kept the check one. Its definitely more fitted than other toast dresses.

I ordered the green cord dress (A-line one and the check olive shirt dress. Choosing only one to keep!

Hi Stoic, I bought the Broderie Anglaise dress in slate. It’s poplin so it felt very cold to the skin at the moment but it’s a keeper for me. Not too big, the bodice makes it a slimmer fit than other Toast dresses. I love the Puritan look of it! And judging by current prices and the loss of the Llandeilo outlet, it could be my last Toast dress for some time.
