I cracked and ordered the ink loop back jersey trousers and matching top easy sweater: this despite a no spend February....

Liking the look of that new back print dress @Snowyowl78 . I almost daren't look on the website.

Snowyowl78 · 08/02/2023 17:19

@ToastCosILoveIt i like loads of things! I still have some sale stuff within its return period, plotting what I can trade….
Must. Be. Strong!

Blossomtoes · 08/02/2023 17:19

They’re on my list @ToastCosILoveIt. I’ve just had a look and nothing’s been added to my saved items I’m delighted to say.

TerrierOrTerror · 08/02/2023 17:30

So this is the dress I was shown in store on Saturday - if I had seen this online I wouldn't be tempted at all!

ToastCosILoveIt · 08/02/2023 17:51

@TerrierOrTerror , it is a shame it isn't shown on a model. It is absolutely one that needs trying on in a shop before purchase. That is easy for those of us who live near a Toast shop but not very good for its mail order customers. It does look lovely but I would need to see the fit and also if the colour drains me.

Blossomtoes · 08/02/2023 17:58

I don’t think you can tell online at all. I looked at the obscenely priced silk shirt in the shop. I’d been drooling over it after seeing it on the website. On the hanger the colours aren’t nearly so vibrant and the silk really doesn’t feel nice. I was relieved and disappointed at the same time.

Snowyowl78 · 08/02/2023 18:00

Ooh @TerrierOrTerror are you going to buy it?

the one I like isn’t shown on a model either, annoying.

I notice they have a couple of much shorter dresses this time.

dudsville · 08/02/2023 18:32

I like these...

Sorry for the blurry pics, I've never learned how to do links.

ToastCosILoveIt · 08/02/2023 18:38

The blush check trousers have had a suprisingly high number of reviews already, some of them (but not all) very favourable. They aren't something that jumps out at me but again, worth a try in the shop.

I do hope that Toast expands the size range they hold instore. Too often I have gone in and found they only have the size 8s in stock but nothing bigger.

TerrierOrTerror · 08/02/2023 20:02

I am 100% buying it. I haven't tried it on but it looked much less boxy in real life and the colours a bit softer, more a muted orange rather than the brown it looks online.

I am not idea what it will look like on but it was absolutely beautiful on the hanger and looked like a soft material too.

Debating whether to go and try it in store or order online.

Snowyowl78 · 08/02/2023 17:02

The worst has happened. There is a whole load of new lovely things. I have put at least 5 things into my fantasy basket.

I really really really want this as it’s the same shape as the Turrell and sounds like the same material and drape of the print leaf one from the sale- both my faves!

Oh dear…I’m off to look now
still have a £100 gift card to spend

Countmeout · 08/02/2023 20:52

Well I’ve now had a look. Thankfully nothing from this lot is tempting me. Do we think that’s it for a while? So when we get February over I can order a couple of things that are?

@dudsville - I love those Anypandy trousers too!

dudsville · 08/02/2023 21:42

They look like they'll be really great to wear don't they! I've got a little break coming up that they'd be perfect for. I might pop in and try them on.

I just watched the Blackhorse Lane denim live video, really enjoyed it, but was surprised to hear him say re the care of denim to wash it, but not use detergent. That a soak helps revive the fibers... i must say i don't over wash my denim, but it's never occurred to me to not use detergent every time i do a wash. Does anyone here just rinse/soak their denim?

Oooh!
What size did you go for in relation to your RL size?
@ToastCosILoveIt

ToastCosILoveIt · 08/02/2023 22:54

@TempleofZoom , i have ordered the medium in both and am a high street 12. I have the slate colour loop backs in a small: they had never been on my radar but saw them in Hampstead last winter and tried the medium which were way too baggy. The small fitted and I love them. Reviews suggest that these are one of the items where the sizing has been adjusted downward with this new colourway.

ToastCosILoveIt · 09/02/2023 11:35

I ordered the loop back items yesterday and have had the despatch email this morning. Sometimes I opt for next day delivery but decided not to in this instance so I am pleased to see that Royal Mail are saying that it will be delivered tomorrow morning. I will update on fit etc when they arrive.

Stoic123 · 09/02/2023 12:32

Still sticking to a no buy February over here but will go for the loopback trousers in the Spring if still available in my size.

Most of the items on my wishlist are from previous season that never made it into last sale.

I'm eyeing up the Lotus Leaf trousers, Check Cotton Trousers and Lofty Jacquard Sweater. From this season, I'm thinking about the Sailor Collar Sweater and Slubby Cotton Linen Shirt. Anyone own any of these and thoughts/recommendations?

Some lovely dresses but in the 'definately not needed' category so will be sale only purchases.

faustina · 09/02/2023 16:42

@Stoic123 - I tried that slubby linen shirt the other weekend as it was also on my list, but it was very disappointing. It gaped way more than the pique shirt in an XS and the S looked weird at the neck. It was also quite a lot thinner than I'd expected - just all round underwhelming. Hope you have better luck than me with it!

dudsville · 09/02/2023 17:55

I'm also sticking with Dry Toast feb @stoic, and I'll continue until there's either a sale or my trip when i will try out the trousers upthread, but this takes me to end of March. Hope i clear the credit card by then!

Stoic123 · 09/02/2023 18:02

@faustina - thanks. I will seek it out but gaping is a problem for me and useful to know faults so I can bear in mind (I do suffer from rose tinted spectacles when I'm in a Toast shop).

I don't want too many things to stay on the purchase list so hoping some of the wishlist items are duds 😀

Stoic123 · 09/02/2023 18:03

@dudsville - comrade-in-arms!

ScottishMouse · 09/02/2023 18:43

I may be joining the dry February gang, but only by accident. Had some time to kill near Toast today so went and tried some of the newest things. Everything looked terrible on me! I have put on some weight recently and am not feeling great about it, so that may be part of the problem.
Gathered sleeve shore gingham dress - sleeves were too much and just made me look quite wide, not sure I loved the fabric either. As someone upthread said, it’s a bit less brown and more orange/yellow irl.
Smocked gingham shirt - ditto on the fabric, also the smocked neck sat weirdly on me.
Crinkle cotton check pinafore dress - tried this the other day and liked it, but on second try I think I am too busty for it, it just looked a bit meh.
Indigo stripe organic cotton trousers - these are great fabric, lovely part elasticated waist, but pleats just do not work on me. They will be fab in someone though.
Colour block poplin dress - this was great apart from the brown (!) colour. If it came in the colour that the colour block skirt comes in, I would definitely consider it. I actually should have tried the skirt, but I am not much of a skirt wearer so didn’t.
So I have whittled my wishlist down to zero. Which is great for my wallet, but it feels odd to not have my eye on anything at all.

dudsville · 09/02/2023 21:27

@ScottishMouse , it's hard when we're not feeling so happy with ourselves, I've struggled since the pandemic started. It's fortunate for your purse that you've got rid of your wish list at least! I was disappointed by your review of the indigo stripe cotton trousers, you may have just removed these from mine too!
