Ifermenter they gave you the refund, but did the inpost stuff ever finally shift? And i agree, it's absolutely privileged, but still a hassle. I ended up getting a 2 yr interest free credit card for Toast purchases just so i could manage the speed with which they take money and the delay there is to getting it back that meant I was constantly dipping into a debt that was only temporary but hard to keep track of.

Laska2Meryls · 21/01/2023 08:25

My problem is that I see things I like - sale and full price- and order only ro realise that I an actually buying the updated versions of what I already have!🤦‍♀️
I have sent back the blue linen balloon trousers now ( these were not full price) and will be sending back the black brushed linen which are coming today because I actually looked in my wardrobe and realised that I had last year's versions!
Really I need to shop my wardrobe first ! But its just so tempting to order, especially sale stuff ....

dudsville · 21/01/2023 08:28

How funny, also because i ordered the brushed cotton because of your posting about then i think!

My funniest thing is when i purchase something, don't like it, then review previous purchases and realise I'd already tried the exact item, with the same result, before!

Stoic123 · 21/01/2023 08:32

@dudsville - yes, it has been an avalanche of orders and returns but I'm nearing the end. I have a final order of a replacement 'funeral dress' on it's way (Slate Broderie Anglaise).

@AFingerofFudge - I'd struggle with Toast in-store return policy for sales items (only exchange/gift card) as I often need to see an item in context of rest of wardrobe to nail if I really want to keep it.

I used to keep a lot more things on spec which I never ended up wearing - often items bought in store. Am now much more ruthless but does require a lot of trudging over to the Post Office.

dudsville · 21/01/2023 08:38

That's a good funeral dress choice!

Toast have refunded to my card @Stoic123 the sales purchases I've returned in store?

Laska2Meryls · 21/01/2023 08:39

They know me well at our local post office!! .. And I still cringe at the postman saying to DH one day 'She does like her Toast doesn't she ?' Blush

dudsville · 21/01/2023 08:41

I remember that comment and often wonder what my posties think!

Stoic123 · 21/01/2023 08:46

@dudsville - yes, sales bought online are refunded onto card if returned to store.

A bit of a moot point as they don't do sales in store but their return terms for instore purchases are stricter. They may change if instore sales became a reality.

Stoic123 · 21/01/2023 08:47

@Laska2Meryls - ha ha

My postie saw me in the town centre the other day (off duty) and greated me like a old friend. Entirely due to Toast.

dudsville · 21/01/2023 08:53

Ah, my apologies i didn't read properly! How funny about your postie!

DarlingCoffee · 21/01/2023 09:12

I’m returning the heathery wool sweater in pistachio from the sale. The colour doesn’t suit me and the L was not as roomy as I had hoped!

My final foray into the sale! Purchased the Gabi in Concrete (not a colour I would usually choose but I love the Gabi) and the Panelled Cotton Linen trousers in Celadon Green for summer.

neveradullmoment99 · 21/01/2023 10:01

The green cord pleated needle cord dress arrived. Absolutely gorgeous and a lovely fit. Sleeves are a little tight at wrists for me but minor issue. Can unbutton one and roll it.
Colour is more of a dirty green but the style is true classic toast at its best. Perfect for pear shapes!

neveradullmoment99 · 21/01/2023 10:04

Many years ago, I used to buy a LOT of white stuff ( before it changed company)
The DPD saw me in my local town centre and handed me my parcel😮
So embarrassing!

neveradullmoment99 · 21/01/2023 10:08

ilovecherries · 20/01/2023 17:19

I did keep mine but find it deeply annoying. It doesn’t gape in the traditional sense of pulling apart across the bust, but rather the gaps between the buttons are too big and you can see in from the side. Had it only had one more button to reduce the spacing between them, it would have been perfect for me.

This is my problem too. Gaping between buttons. On most of the dresses like this, I'm having to wear a thin top under it. Its annoying.

MiracleToast · 21/01/2023 10:46

@dudsville the botanical print robe is my favourite purchase from the sale, it’s really stunning

dudsville · 21/01/2023 10:52

@neveradullmoment99 that made me actually laugh out loud!
Love that.

Ooh, that makes it more xciting to look forward to @MiracleToast !

I recieved the brushed cotton trousers and linen version of the utility dress. Surprisingly, the brushed cotton trousers were an instant no, and the utility was a strong maybe, needed to be ironed - and this is it in a nutshell, I just can't work out what will work. I ironed the dress and could then see why I was ambivalent.
The fabric was nice, and it's a quirky and interesting dress, but the waist is too low for me - I suit the fit and flare, higher up waist but often can use the toast brown belt if i want a fit on a loose dress and this dress didn't suit that.

Return labels printed and I'll be off to the post office in a moment. So, I did a double check - of all the things I've ordered since Jan 1st I've still only kept the orange heather jumper and the stack check dress. I keep thinking I'm spending wildly, but that's just not bad for the start of the year. (And I haven't done any other shopping)

I love the look at the pistachio heathery so much @DarlingCoffee but also think it wouldn't suit me.

@neveradullmoment99 , I had to go back and look at that dress again as I assumed it had 3/4 length sleeves! Thankfully it is sold out of my size.

So, is it too early to start admiring our favourite purchases of this sale? I think it's a tough call but for me it might be the three jumpers - the alpaca neat in both pear and chocolate, and the orange heathery jumper.

I emailed about it - how many garments would benefit from reducing the button spacing but got the standard ‘will pass on to design team’ response.

It’s lovely, isn’t it? The sleeves are bracelet length on me. I never thought I’d buy the same dress in two colours but these are my best ever Toast buy.

Stoic123 · 21/01/2023 18:41

@neveradullmoment99 😂

Catnary · 21/01/2023 18:46

Ha ha stumbled on this in Active and genuinely thought it was for people who love those Totes Toasties slipper socks that used to be sold in Debenhams!

Stoic123 · 21/01/2023 20:11

@dudsville - never too early.

Favourites are: Charcoal Loop Back trousers (most worn so far- WFH heaven), Kaftan Dress (sparked most joy- plan to wear to death in summer) and Pleated Needlecord Dress in Slate (agree that it is super flattering). Special mention to the Collared Half Sleeve Sweater in Navy (Hamptons fantasy).

dudsville · 21/01/2023 22:25

@Stoic123 That kaftan dress is stunning and looks really flexible. And the number of times I've rethought my decision not to get the hamptons top is laughable, its such a useful top. I'm curiously awaiting my pleated needle cord dress in slate so I'm glad to hear it's in your favourites!

I was looking through the current non-sale stuff and am worried my era of Toast clothing might be coming to an end. The shapes i like in the current dresses are in the wrong colours or fabrics (the bib front cord has the ties that give it a waist in exactly the right spot, and similarly a striped cotton dress makes a similar shape), and I'm not interested in any of the trousers. Oh dear. I've really liked the archive sales so I'll enjoy those for a while.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 21/01/2023 22:38

My favourite sales purchases have to be the ticking stripe bed linen and the embroidered kaftan dress, oh and the coffee bean emma.

Snowyowl78 · 22/01/2023 17:03

Does anyone remember if the charcoal loop back trousers went into the sale?
I am wondering whether to buy the new blue ones or wait til they might go into sale. For some reason the matching sweatshirts never go into sale.
