After advice, please, dear experts! I want to buy a beautiful sweatshirt for my son's beautiful gf when she turns 18 next month. She's teeny tiny, and habitually wears comfy joggers/jeggings with a cropped vest, topped off with a HUGE sweatshirt (usually one of his :)). I'd love to get her a really lovely, super-soft comfy sweatshirt that would feel properly luxurious, but still suit her casual style - budget £50/60 I guess. Any suggestions?

Cashmere in a sale? Buy a big size?

Goldd · 10/01/2023 15:34

If she’s 18 and likes sweatshirts (rather than jumpers) I’d probably go on Urban Outfitters and filter to “sweatshirts”. Ask your son what brands she likes, adidas, champion, tommy hilfiger etc or just something plain or with a graphic on.

Lululemon
i bought my dil a lovely cropped sweatshirt for Christmas

YouWithoutEnd · 10/01/2023 16:00

Sweaty Betty do some lovely sweatshirt options. I’ve had two from them and they are lovely fabrics, no pilling, generously cut and hang nicely.

These look really soft but they're in the US so I'm not sure how much use they are! softserveclothing.com/products/cloud-cotton-hoodie

I've got 2 lovely ones from this company, the hoodie is almost like a cowl neck, they've got thumb holes too, and a front pouch pocket. I've got a rainbow one in grey marl and a navy one with a silver star. Excellent quality.

Sweaty Betty and Lulu Lemon are not youth brands, don't go with those

Spirini · 10/01/2023 20:06

Urban Outfitters is a good call as per previous poster

I agree, ask your son for advice and he'll direct you the brands she likes.

Thanks all, this is helpful. She (as does our son, for that matter) tends to shop in H&M, for reasons of budget, so she's not terribly brand driven; but I'd like to get her something a bit 'fancy'. Will investigate further!

Check out huge hoodies

shiningcuckoo · 11/01/2023 10:43

My 17 year old and her mates all covert Lululemon.

Brandy Melville oversized striped knit?

brandy melville sweater

If she's not hugely snobby about fashion (I'm looking at you dd3 🙄) then the Urban Outfitters oversized tie dye ones are good.

MedComms · 11/01/2023 10:50

I've been coveting this jumper from H&M after seeing it on Instagram: www2.hm.com/en_gb/productpage.1113009003.html

SheilaWilde · 11/01/2023 11:11

Abercrombie and Fitch sweatshirts are super soft. If you're anywhere near an outlet they're reasonable priced between £30-£50.

alwayscheery · 11/01/2023 12:48

Brandy Melville or urban outfitters.

YouWithoutEnd · 11/01/2023 12:59

Free People do some gorgeous lounge wear and sweatshirts/fleeces, etc. Spendy but all quite unique and I can attest to the quality of their stuff.

Sobekneferu · 12/01/2023 02:57

op, grey selection at Maniere de Voir. Very good quality, gen z designed for dressed up street wear. Check them out online

Curious to hear what you end up with OP!

Xmasgrinchywinchy · 12/01/2023 07:35

Urban or somewhere like pull & bear. I can’t imagine my 17 year old wanting something from sweaty Betty or lulu lemon. If gym wear it’s gym shark

cosmiccosmos · 12/01/2023 07:47

Have a look in the men's section in TKMaxx

determinedtomakethiswork · 12/01/2023 07:48

I think she should choose it herself. What she would go for and what you would go for are going to be completely different things.

PortiasBiscuit · 12/01/2023 07:49

Do not buy cashmere, make sure that whatever it is she can chuck it in the washing machine, because that is what she will do with it.
