'Chic' Handbag snacks

I was just idly wondering what chic/elegant women snack on? I just couldn't imagine putting a banana/rice cakes etc. in a designer bag. Tell me elegant ladies of S&B what handbag snacks do you take with you. I also got a fabulous non designer leather bag for Channukah from DH and feel like I need to up my game. I am currently on ML so carrying anything other than a nappy bag feels super exciting!

Happy Channukah.

I'm not much help, I have designer bags but I don't really keep snacks. I'm not much of a snacker and I'm rarely anywhere where I can't just go out and buy something that takes my fancy. Probably not the most financially sensible approach but neither is buying designer handbags.

I'll toss in a small bag of raw nuts if I'm on a long train journey, does that help?

Depending on the size of your bag there are some nifty organisers. Etsy has quite the selection, those would probably be useful to contain any snack spillage accidents.

Chag Chanukah! I like a nice designer bag, I do. My snacks are whatever I fancy. Protein bars, small bags of popcorn, sweets, pretty much anything from M&S. just make sure nothing leaks!

What a middle class dilemma

carefulcalculator · 23/12/2022 11:54

A genuinely stylish person would take whatever they wanted, so just do as you please - it is only the style-free who worry about these matters!

IglesiasPiggl · 23/12/2022 11:55

I always imagine it's one of those tiny 250ml water bottles that look so elegant, plus nuts and raisins in a matching slimline re-sealable box.

JeezLouiseErrrr · 23/12/2022 11:57

I don't think they eat snacks! You might also need floss, toothpaste and toothbrush if you do eat out and about!
The safest things are non liquid, well sealed, does not require refrigeration, doesn't smell so no boiled eggs please, protein heavy eg nuts as pp said or low carb bar. They might have a small tin of sugar free breath mints.

postcardpuffin · 23/12/2022 11:58

Who has time to worry about whether their snacks are chic?!? Just eat what you want?

I don’t ever snack anyway!

JeezLouiseErrrr · 23/12/2022 11:58

Nuts can be bad for your teeth (break or chip them) and raisins can contribute to decay plus you'll have black bits in your teeth. Just don't snack.

chary · 23/12/2022 12:00

I don't think i'm chic but I like nice bags.
My bags are full of sweet wrappers & crisps, who gives a crap!

AdaColeman · 23/12/2022 12:02

Chag urin sameach!
I don't usually carry snacks in my handbag, but if I'm travelling I might take a bag of raisins or a small tin of sweets.

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 23/12/2022 12:08

I’ve only taken chocolate rice cakes, fruit like nectarines or plums in small plastic box, Nak’d bars and drinks.

With my designer bags I’m careful not to put drinks or fruit which leak onto the lining. Has happened with non designer bags.

Margo34 · 23/12/2022 12:11

Is this a thing? If I'm going somewhere with a handbag, it's usually to eat, so no snacks required. I only take snacks out with me for my toddler!

PipinwasAuntieMabelsdog · 23/12/2022 12:11

Thanks folks for the suggestions and Channukah wishes! Smile

I don't think chic ladies snack! I haven't carried bananas / rice cakes around since my kids were tiny (and not in a designer bag).

MilkshakesBringAllTheCoosToTheYard · 23/12/2022 12:15

'Snacking' is not chic.

minticecreamisjustok · 23/12/2022 12:15

A mint

RampantIvy · 23/12/2022 12:18

I was just idly wondering what chic/elegant women snack on?

This won't help, but they probably don't eat between meals.

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 23/12/2022 12:27

I always thought snacks were for kids?! (And even then it's debatable...) It never occurs to me to snack. If you really really can't cope without a snack just take what you want, in whatever bag you like.

TheOGCCL · 23/12/2022 13:20

Mini babybels. The light ones are 1 point on Weightwatchers. Just don't put the wax wrapper back in the bag.

Disclaimer I don't have any designer handbags.

DuchessofSandwich · 23/12/2022 15:00

My dads partner always has a small tin with some posh chocolates in her handbag. Anytime we end up drinking coffee somewhere she'll offer us a chocolate.

SuperGinger · 23/12/2022 15:11

A bar of dark chocolate?

Gingerbreadcandle · 23/12/2022 15:18

I have some designer bags and I like snacking, i take cereal bars, an apple in a little plastic bag, small flapjacks. I always take something as I get headaches if I don’t eat regularly so always take something small and a (reusable) bottle of water. I don’t care what other people think, but I wouldn’t take something that could leak or smell .

user1499608326 · 23/12/2022 15:55

It always amazes me when people can't go 5 minutes without stuffing their faces with food!

Oh, I can only aspire to this level of chic!
