'Chic' Handbag snacks

I was just idly wondering what chic/elegant women snack on? I just couldn't imagine putting a banana/rice cakes etc. in a designer bag. Tell me elegant ladies of S&B what handbag snacks do you take with you. I also got a fabulous non designer leather bag for Channukah from DH and feel like I need to up my game. I am currently on ML so carrying anything other than a nappy bag feels super exciting!

I don’t “snack”, and I’m not even chic.

Eat at breakfast and dinner and lunch if you can. Avoid snacks, they’re not good for you.

LimeCheesecake · 23/12/2022 19:11

I have a few of lower end designer bags (mulberry /coach / Michael Kors ), so I’m probably not chic enough to answer you! But yes to the small dark chocolate bars. Or pat bars. Nothing that can spill and spoil the inside of your bag.

messy things go in coat pockets.

That's untrue. It's dependent on the person. OP has stated clearly why snacking is beneficial for health. Stop demonising food and food habits.

They prob get snacks from pret a mortgage

Abcdefgh1234 · 23/12/2022 23:15

I’ve got lots of designers handbag. But i never snacking when i’m out. I only eat in designated place to eat. Never snacking when i’m out and about.

RampantIvy · 23/12/2022 23:20

The OP has very specific reasons why she snacks, so please can people read her updates before posting.

Phoebesgift · 23/12/2022 23:24

Are we assuming chic and elegant women are skinny too? Maybe they carry chocolate, crisps, sweets in their chic, designer bags.
Surely no one cares what other people snack on? Do you mean strangers out in the public? 1🤔

Handsnotwands · 23/12/2022 23:54

Packet of spicy nick naks and a can of Coke Zero. And an elf bar. The only snacks a chic lady like me would countenance 💁‍♀️

SenecaFallsRedux · 23/12/2022 23:58

I have been known to stow a banana in my Tory Burch tote. And small packets of cashews.

LimeCheesecake · 24/12/2022 07:15

See I read this as “what are nice snacks to eat, but won’t mess up the inside of my lovely new bag” and yes, bananas or pots of fruit that might open would therefore be poor choices. As would crisps or anything greasy or crumbly. Small bars of dark chocolate are the way forward.

Mrcpy · 24/12/2022 07:36

This question made me smile, OP! I like handbags too. Unfortunately the inside of mine are sprinkled with crumbs from my kids’ snacks. Personally if I want to look chic I wouldn’t snack, but I agree with PP that a small bar of dark chocolate makes a nice impression. I like to carry water in a slim glass bottle.

Oh, I can only aspire to this level of chic!

My sister told me yesterday about a new friend - a single lady in her 50s who has reached impossible levels of chic, so that she has homes in London and Sweden, and 'the only thing she carries in her handbag is champagne.'

Cheesyfootballs01 · 25/12/2022 23:07

OP I’m Type 1 diabetic so I always carry snacks and glucose tablets - you don’t need to justify why you need/want to have snacks to some on here….

I have a LV Neverfull ( so loads of room for snacks!!) and I have a bag tidy which fits in to it and has different compartments. I usually have a couple of cereal bars and sometimes mini cheddars 😋

chelle0 · 25/12/2022 23:13

I currently have a Waitrose florentine and some mini flapjacks for DD in mine.

SleekMamma · 27/12/2022 23:21

Not sure if chocolate is a good idea, but Aldi do little mini chocolate bars, 5 in a pack. Dinky, lovely chocolate and definitely snack sized and chic.

bizzywiththefizzy · 27/12/2022 23:26

I have lollies in my handbag if that's any use . I don't even have little kids anymore 🤦‍♀️

Weleaiig · 27/12/2022 23:40

Shame you have been drawn into giving a reason OP but I guess it’s the idea of a designer bag having different snacks to a cheep hold-all. However I have been reading as I was hoping responses would help me because I have to travel regularly at times when I actually need to eat and avoiding crumbs/possible mess is a priority as well as being filling.

ChicCroissant · 27/12/2022 23:41

I take protein bars in my bag for a snack during my work break, I find them quite filling too. Enjoy the lovely new bag OP.

slipperyeel · 28/12/2022 08:41

I take a cereal bar and a small and very cute tin of almonds.
Snacking is NOT some evil habit ffs.

PegasusReturns · 28/12/2022 19:20

Mints or chocolate covered sunflower seeds in little tins.

if there’s little risk of being seen sharing bags of mixed penny sweets 😂
